John Joseph Kenny, age 74 of Onondaga, Michigan died Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Dimondale Nursing Care Center with his mom and sister by his side. He was born March 23, 1949, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of John Duane and Delores Yvonne (Taft) Kenny. In his youth he was a Cub Scout and began playing organized baseball at the age of eight. John loved sports, he was in the ski club, played basketball and football but especially loved baseball, and played at Brighton High School in Brighton, Michigan where he graduated from in 1967. He was a hard worker who loved animals and rescued many. He especially liked to help older people with home repairs and projects and was always willing to help with their transportation. He is survived by his parents, three children: Jennifer (Steven) Pearson, John (Cortney) Duffy and Amy Meeks, nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, a brother Stephen (Julia) Kenny, three sisters: Kathleen (Norb) Burklund, Martha (Brett) Terry and Rhonda (Don) Humphreys; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, several close friends and his beloved dog Max. John was preceded in death by a son Jonathon Kenny. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Richard A. Robert Vern Benson II, age 74, of Onondaga, Michigan, passed away on November 27, 2023. Bob was born on October 28, 1949, the son of Margaret and Robert Benson Sr. , who have preceded him in death. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Janice, in 1967. Bob retired from his career as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and more fishing. When not at his favorite fishing holes, he could be found making flies for fishing and woodworking. Bob and Janice loved being at their cabin up north where he spent many hours telling and listening to fishing stories with his friends at Pappies Bait and Tackle. Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his son, Robert Vern Benson III. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Benson; sisters: Mary Lucas, Judy Berry, Sue Adkins, Jane (Sam) Snow, and Doris (Steve) Raymond; brother, Jim (Sencerra) Benson; and the gang at Pappies. A service honoring Bob's life will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 1:00 P. M. at Vickers Leslie Funeral Home, 109 N. Church St. Leslie, Michigan 49251, with Pastor Toby Teague officiating. The family will begin receiving visitors beginning at 11:00 A. M. prior to the service. Bob will be laid to rest following the service at Tompkins Cemetery. Karen Kay (Ogden) Harmon, age 77, of Onondaga, Michigan, was resting peacefully in her home, surrounded by family when she entered her Savior's embrace just before midnight on May 4, 2021. Karen was diagnosed with cancer just 3 weeks before she went home to be with Jesus. She will be remembered as a woman bursting with love for the Lord, her church, and especially her family. Her grandkids were her joy and she treasured spending time with them. She was always well supplied with games, arts and crafts, and snacks ready for their visits. She was vitally involved with her church, including teaching Sunday School. Karen opened her heart and home to many foster children over the years as well as extended family and friends. Her loving and giving nature was a true example of God's love for all. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy (Fowler) Ogden. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Howard Paul Harmon; children: Steven Paul (Lisa Ann) Harmon, Brenda Lynn Easterling, and Kristy Kay Brimm; grandchildren: Chaz (Jessica), Teal, Kyler (Taylor), Chris (Lisa), Zachary (Christina), Justin, Jared, Steven, Destyni (Brandon), Austin (Abbey), Sadie (Janazhia), and CJ; great-grandchildren: Alan, Lillian, Cameron, Elliot, Blake, Caleb, Makenzie, Madeline, Declan, and Hunter; sisters, Rita Furlong and Gloria (Marvin) Bates; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Karen's niece, Tonya Burke, who has been such a great support and blessing over the last few weeks. A funeral service celebrating Karen's life will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Loomis Park Baptist Church located at 2301 N. Norris, Janet (Jan) Eileen, of Onondaga, MI passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the age of 89. Jan was born on May 13, 1931 in Toledo, OH. She was a graduate of Leslie High School, the class of 1949. Early in her life Janet played piano and sang in a trio with her two sisters Rita and Sue, known as the Donze Sisters. She married John (Jack) Manthei after high school and traveled as an Army wife for many years. Together they had four children, John, Marilyn, William (Bill) and Lisa. After a bit of troubled times, she later met and married Iven (Ike) Norris on December 11, 1971. They instantly became inseparable. He had four children from a previous marriage, Steve, Stanley, Sue, and Sandy. The two families became one and she became a mom to all. Jan and Ike spent 49 happy years together. She worked as a real estate agent for a while. She enjoyed playing and teaching piano, sewing, cooking, crafts, camping, traveling, and golfing. She was a part of the Onondaga Sportsman Club, the Onondaga 4-H club, the Wednesday night ladies golf league at Hankerd Hills and the golf travel team. Mostly she enjoyed being a loving mom to her extended family. She helped to raise grandchildren, sponsored exchange students, and her and Ike took in and helped friends of their children. She was always taking care of others and made a lasting impact in the lives of those around her. Her majestic, loving heart finally gave out 2 weeks after the death of her husband whom she adored. They are now resting together. She will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by: her parents, Henry Wilson Donze and Laura Mae Knull; sister Sue Haringa; children: John Manthei, William (Bill) Manthei, and Marilyn Lubahn; and stepson, Steven Norris. Surviving are: her sister Rita (Harv) Adkins; daughter Lisa (Eric) Cooper; stepchildren: Stanley (Deb) Norris, Sandy Ruiz, and Susan (Jim) Richardson; 23 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Emma S. (Stratton) Alden, age 72, of Onondaga, Michigan, was called home to heaven on May 4, 2020 from natural causes. Emma was born on March 30, 1948 to John and Mary Stratton. She worked as a waitress at Charlie's Diner in Remus, Michigan before moving to Onondaga. She worked about 15 years before retiring from Rapids Tumble Finish in Eaton Rapids. Emma loved to go dancing, watch Nascar - especially Dale Sr. and Jr., attend local small track car races, play (and win) Bingo and lottery scratch-offs. Her grandkids and great-grandkids were her world and they gave her great joy. Emma will be remembered as joyful, sarcastic, full of life, loving, and caring. She was the glue that kept her families united and peaceful. Emma is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Stratton; step-mom, Donna Stratton; son, Russell Myers Jr.; siblings: Howard, Kay (Bill), Dorothy, and Dolly (Roy); and brother-in-law, Gene. She is survived by her loving and adoring husband of 34 years and 337 days, Larry Alden; children: Bill Myers (Sandra Catt), John (Michelle) Myers, and Donnajean Myers; grandchildren: Lynn Lehnert (Brooke Hector), Megan Myers, Molly Myers, Aubree Myers, Dante Beemer, Ryan (Sarah) Myers, Mateo Myers, and Mike Corbally; great-grandchildren: Wesley, Coltin, and Kennedy; sisters, Donna and Nettie; sister-in-law, Wanda; brother-in-law, Denny; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; granddog, Yoda; and grandcat, Brock.
