John Goebel Obituary

"John V. Goebel, 79, of Evansville, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 surrounded by his family. John was born May 5, 1944 in Evansville, IN to the late John and Rita (Litzelman) Goebel. He had worked for Hoffman Plumbing and Goebel Mechanical and was a member of Pipefitters Local 136. John enjoyed playing bingo, clabber and buying scratch off tickets. He attended Mater Dei with the class of 1962 but left early to serve his country in the United States Army. He was an active member of the Eagles and Germania Maennerchor. Surviving John are daughters, Missi (Randy) Hayden and Bobbi (Jim) Pierson; sons, John (Amy) Goebel, Woody (Christi) Goebel, Lucas (Natalia) Goebel and Nick (Erin) Goebel; sisters, Joyce (Pat) Rhodes, Janice (Larry) Schuble, Carol (Rusty) Reising, Terri (David) Weber, Lisa (Tim) Blankenship, Judy (Ken) Boarman and Beth (Dave) Lindauer; brothers, Jim (Faye) Goebel, Andy (Darlene) Goebel, Tony (Zetta) Goebel, Mike (Melanie) Goebel, Tom (Karen) Goebel, Gary (Cindy) Goebel, Glenn Goebel and Chris (Jeannine) Goebel; eighteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Wanda Sue (Gray) Goebel in 2004 and by a sister, Rita "Deetz" Goebel in 2022. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday at Sacred Heart Church, 2701 W.
