John Gilchrist Obituary

John Henry Gilchrist McCormick, SC: John Henry Gilchrist, 77, departed this life on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Orchard Manor, Metter, GA. He was born in Edgefield, SC, on April 6, 1946, son of the late James(Jim) and Jessie Whatley Gilchrist. At an ealry, age he joined Liberty Spring Baptist Church. John was special in his own way and he touched many lives during his seventy-seven years of life here on earth. . He will be truly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Gilchrist. He leaves to cherish his memory; devoted family members, sister, Janie Lou Moton of McCormick, SC, brothers, Willie Gilchrist and Frank (Mamie) Giulchrist both of McCormick, SC; sister-in-law, Geneva Gilchrist of McCormick, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends. A Celebration of his Life will be 1:00 p. m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Liberty Spring Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at Noon. Reverend Jimmy Gilchrist will be the Eulogist and pastor, Reverend Donnie Kennedy will be presiding with others assisting. Family viewing will be Friday, May 12, 2023 at the funeral home 1-2 p. m. and public viewing will be 2-6 p. m. The family is receiving friends at the home of his sister, Janie Lou Moton, 14 Creekriver Lane, McCormick, SC. Please pray for this family as they go through their hour of bereavement.
