John Thomas Evans, age 74, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children, on May 4, 2023, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was born on January 17, 1949, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Fanny Martino and Thomas Evans Sr. John was the beloved husband of Carol Jean Evans for 54 years and the proud father of four children. He was the oldest of nine siblings and is survived by his sisters Kathy Snyder, Diane Yeager, Nancy Nerti, and Mary Joe Evans; and his brothers Thomas Evans Jr. and Michael Evans, as well as his sons Darin John Evans, Damien Rocco Evans, and Brandon Robert Evans; his daughters-in-law Dana, Beth, Christy and Tracey; and his grandchildren Raney, Cade, Ian, Riley, Joseph, Lainey, Rowan, and Lily. John was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Rocky Evans and David Evans, and his oldest son Chad Thomas Evans. While John may be remembered for his unashamed approach to life as a grumpy (albeit lovable) old man with no filter, his family and friends will always cherish his dry sense of humor and quick wit. Whether he was at a restaurant, church, birthday party, or even a funeral, John left a wake of bruised egos and smiling faces behind him. He had a talent for making people laugh, even in the most somber of situations. Nothing - not even his battle with Multiple Sclerosis - changed John's outlook on life. Whenever asked how he was feeling, his response was always the same: "Couldn't be better. I'm a lucky man. " As one of his favorite songs "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" goes:. . . For life is quite absurdAnd death's the final wordYou must always face the curtain with a bowForget about your sinGive the audience a grinEnjoy it, it's your last chance anyhow. . . And he did. May these words and John's memory continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who loved him.
