Rock Hill - Mr. John D. Copeland, 79, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Piedmont Medical Center. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Rev. Steve Pittman and Bernie Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery. Born in Great Falls, Mr. Copeland was the son of the late John Dewey Copeland and the late Jessie LeGrande Copeland. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dewey Copeland; and his sisters, Alice Racine, Mary Taylor, and Elizabeth Marze. He was a US Marine veteran serving during Vietnam and was retired from Duke Energy with 24 years of service. He was a faithful, godly husband, father, papa, and mentor. He was a member of First Assembly of God where he faithfully served for 55 years including secretary/treasurer and serving on the board. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Goforth Copeland; his daughter, Melissa Copeland Johnson of Rock Hill; his granddaughter, Amanda Copeland; his brother, Harold Copeland of Rock Hill; and two sisters, Jessie Ruth Worthy and Elaine (Bobby) Henderson, both of Rock Hill. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 am-11:45 am on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Copeland's name to First Assembly of God, 1089 Edwards St. , Rock Hill, SC 29732.
