Margaret Ann (Carty) McMahon of Bardonia, New York passed away peacefully in her husband Andrew's arms and surrounded by her family on Wednesday July 5, 2023. She passed on to her heavenly father two days before her 81st birthday after a courageous battle with cancer. Margaret was born in Lisacoghill Drumkeerin, County Leitrim Ireland on July 7 ,1942, one of nine children of Michael and Kate (Reynolds) Carty. Margaret emigrated to America in 1960 on the Queen Mary and lived in Brooklyn, New York. She met the love of her life, Andrew McMahon of Forkhill Armagh, at an Irish dance hall while he was on leave from the US Army in 1961. They married in 1962 and shared 61 years of marriage. Margaret was deeply devoted to her family both here and in Ireland. Margaret dedicated herself to her husband and four children as a homemaker and profoundly proud of their accomplishments. She loved going down to the pavilion in Piermont on the Hudson River, enjoying nightly walks and pleasant company of family and friends. As a proud Irish American, she was a long time member of the Rockland County Irish Cultural Center and enjoyed going to their many dances and cherished being twirled around the floor by her loving husband. She is predeceased by her brothers Sean and Frank and Son-in-Law Phillip T. Esposito. She is survived by her siblings Hellen (Jack) Cullen, Rose (Michael) Carr, Thomas Carty, Kathleen (Joseph) Murphy, Larry (Glenys) Carty and Michael (Marian) Carty. In addition to her loving husband, Margaret is survived by her children Andrew of Coventry CT, Michael (Sue) of Louisville, KY, Kevin (Sheila) of The Woodlands TX, and Siobhan (Nicholas) of Alexandria VA: as well as eight grandchildren Lauren, Sean, Brittany, Kailey, Madeline, Andrew, Matthew, and Alexander and her three great-grandchildren Charles, Cameron and Maeve. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday July 7, 2023 from 4-7pm at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home 728 West Nyack Road, West Nyack, New York. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church 36 West Nyack Rd. Nanuet, NY will be held on Saturday July 8, 2023 at 10 am.Show more

Obituary David Alfred Patten, 82, of Quakertown formerly of Bardonia, New York died September 20, 2022, in his home. He was the husband of Iris (Hernandez) Patten. They would have been married 56 years on October 22, 2022. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Joseph & Carmela (Trimboli) Patten. He was a Principal Public Utility Auditor for the Public Service Commission for the state of New York before retiring in 1995. He was active with the Christian Family Movement and the Marriage Encounter Program. David was a "Gamer" and enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was an Avid Yankees fan. He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Limeport, PA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son David Patten (Amy); two daughters Diane Higgins, & Dawn Viola (Jason). Nine grandchildren Kristina, Kimberly, Damian, Max, Samantha, Alex, Raphael, Anders, & Rocco. A Mass will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 11:30 A. M. at St. Anthony's Church 36 W. Nyack Rd.
