Leesville-John L. Brown, Jr. served in the Army during the Vietnam era. He was a diesel mechanic for Mitchell Dist. Co. for over 30 years and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved his family and always had a smile on his face, even until the very end. John looked for the good in people and never met a stranger. To know him was to love him. He definitely had a servant's heart. Surviving include by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Brown; children, Edie (Frank) Sedgwick, John L. Brown, III, Chase (Heather) Brown and adoptive daughter, Shellee (Eddie) Collachi-Astorino; grandchildren, CJ (Brandi) Crout, Timothy (Bree) Crout, Ashley (Cody) Wethington, Kayla and Sierra Brown; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Johnnie (Bob) Crawford; brothers, Walter (Iris) Brown and Billy (Debi) Brow; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Edith Brown; and sisters, Doris, Gloria, and Linda. We can't thank the staff at LMC enough, 7th floor, North Tower and CCU staff; they went above and beyond. A memorial service will be held 11am Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington chapel. The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel.
