Poplar Bluff, MO

How do you summarize a life? There are some facts and figures:Vida Christine "Christy" Kinsey Louro Murphy Turner, age 83, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at her residence in Poplar Bluff, MO.But Christy K Turner was vast, and she contained multitudes.Born December 20, 1940 in Odessa, TX, Christy considered herself a Texan first, last and always, evidenced by her colorful phrases, her grit, her lifelong devotion to the Dallas Cowboys, and the giant stone outline of Texas she lovingly constructed in her Missouri front yard. She grew up in the oilfields of west Texas and spent her summers in the Sacramento Mountains of New Mexico, fetching water and plucking chickens badly enough that her grandmother insisted she'd never land a husband.Christy was welcomed into the next great adventure by her three husbands: Jose M. Louro, MD, Glynn N. Murphy, Thomas R. Turner; two bonus children: Jose “Jody” Louro, Vicky Louro; two siblings: Julia “Cissy” Kinsey Welch, Richard “Dick” Kinsey; her beloved companion animals: Buttons, Beaux, and Amos Moses; and her parents: Julia Blackford Jette and Hershel Harry Kinsey.Christy loved her family, yet the epicenter of her seismic impact laid outside her home. She learned to fly during her time in Dallas and frequently used a friend's plane to fly home to Midland to see her family. Long before GPS, she mapped her route by following the roadways below, and she played her trusty harmonica for in-flight entertainment.Back on the ground, she loved a convertible (especially a Mustang), conquered countless crosswords, could organize and label anything into meticulous and useful order, and retained a vast library of factoids sufficient to obliterate any poor soul who ever attempted to best her in a game of Trivial Pursuit. And she was always, always up for a hootenanny.Making music was one of the great joys of
