Joel Perez Arriola, 43, of Upper Deerfield Twp. passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland. Born in Acajete, Vera Cruz, Mexico to Pablo Perez Quintero and the late Margarita Arriola Barrena, he came to New Jersey at the age of 18. Joel had been employed at Wilson Nursery in Elmer for 20 years. In his free time, he enjoyed coaching baseball in Bridgeton, playing music and singing, and spending time with his family. He is survived by; his sister, Luz Anel (Celso) of Bridgeton; his father, Pablo Perez Quintero of Mexico; his step-children, Daisy, Esmerelda and Erick; his nieces and nephews, Jose (Jazmin) Daleyza, Belky and Valentina; his grandchildren, Valerie, Anthony and Jesus and his cousins, Felipa and Lucio. He was preceded in death by; his mother, Margarita Arriola Barrena and his brothers, Eduardo and Leonel. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at Parish of the Holy Cross, Immaculate Conception Church, 312 N. Pearl Street, Bridgeton on Thursday, September 21st at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Twp. A visitation will be held on Thursday morning, September 21st at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. from 8:30 AM-10:30 AM. Maggie Mae (Richard) Beachaump was born on June 20, 1930, she was the only child born to Govan and Lula McMichael-Elsey. She departed this life peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2023 at the home of her daughter. After moving to New Jersey, she lived in Port Norris, NJ and later moved to Newport, NJ. Maggie graduated from Bridgeton High School. She met and married the love of her life, Noah T. Beachaump on March 6, 1949. Out of this union of 63 years she had 3 children, Joyce, Thomas and Janice. Maggie was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Port Norris, NJ for 65 years. She was a member of the Jubileers and the United Methodist Women. During her younger years she worked as a Domestic Worker in Millville, NJ and later at Snow's Doxsee, in Cape May, NJ, retiring June 28, 1996. Maggie loved her family and she was well respected by the community. Maggie was pre-deceased by her parents, Govan and Lula McMichael-Elsey, her adopted son, Charles Edward Johnson, daughter Janice M. Beachaump and her husband Noah T. Beachaump. Her aunts: Luvenia, Gertrude, Elsie, Naomi Richard, Mary Novella (Holbrook) Broughton and Genevieve Holbrook-Bulle. Her uncles: Herbert Richard and Winston Holbrook. Her mother-in-law: Ethel T. Beachaump, her sister-in-laws: Hattie Beachaump, Catherine Johnson, Attrew Gross and Nelia Smith and brothers-in-law: Linwood Beachaump and James Beachaump. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Joyce Chin of Vineland of Port , NJ, Tom (Roxanne) Beachaump of Neptune, NJ and grandson Lonnie Beachaump ( who lived with her) of Port Norris, NJ. One aunt, Rev. Mildred Huff of Vineland , NJ and one uncle, Stanley (Ella) Holbrook of Pittsburgh, PA, 5 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, 16 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2411 Memorial Ave, Port Norris, on Saturday, December 9th at 12 NOON. Carolyn Michelle Carter, 55, of Bridgeton, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Bridgeton to the late Joseph X. Young Jr. and Carolyn Elbertson (nee Duffield), she had been the wife of the late Terry Carter. She attended Cumberland Regional High School and was a graduate of the class of 1986. After high school Michelle studied Biomedical and Health Sciences at Rowan College of South Jersey Cumberland Campus where she was on the Dean's list on her way to becoming an RN. Michelle had most recently worked as a bus driver for Sheppard Bus Service. She had worked as a LPN for Genesis Nursing Center for over 12 years, and the Rainbow Nursing Home prior to that. She had also worked at Gardella's in Vineland and Jerry's Giant Subs in Upper Deerfield Twp. In her free time, she enjoyed scrap booking, fishing, camping and canoeing. Michelle was a cat lover and will be missed by her feline babies. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, going to concerts, especially the Dave Matthews Band, and she cheered on Philadelphia sports teams. Michelle was quite the artist, she enjoyed watercolor painting and sketching. Anyone that knows Michelle will remember her for her sense of humor and her laugh. She had a very kind heart, she was very supportive of her family and her friends. She is survived by; her brother, James (Kelly) Young; her nephew, Aiden Young; her fiance, David Hayes; Aunt Marsha (Bill) Charlton and their children Patrick, Bill and Todd, Also Aunt Patti (Bill) Klink and their daughter Nikki. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Terry Carter; her parents, Joseph X. Yvonne Veronica Gosbin, nee Petrillo, known to many as Eve, died on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the age of 65. Eve was born on March 12, 1958, to Dorothy & John Petrillo of Warminster, PA. She attended William Tennent High School and received her cosmetology license through Middle Bucks Area Vocational-Technical School. Eve dedicated herself to raising her four daughters before returning to school and earning a Master's degree in Human Services from Lincoln University. Her professional path led her to become a Family Preservationist at the Cumberland County Guidance Center as well as a Crisis Screener at Inspira Hospital in Vineland, NJ. There, she provided unwavering support to those navigating the most challenging moments of their lives, showcasing her compassion and strength. Eve was known for her phenomenal cooking and baking; her sharp, quick wit; her love for her country; and her passion for the Philadelphia Eagles. She was smart, beautiful, and a devoted, caring mother and wife. She single-handedly transformed every holiday and birthday into a magical, memorable event, that left lifelong memories for her four daughters. Everyone who knew her loved her. She will be missed by all. Eve is predeceased by her parents, Dorothy & John Petrillo, and her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Petrillo and Denise Gosbin Hitchner. * Elaine Henderson Cortelyou passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2023. Born in Bridgeton, NJ on December 23, 1926, to Alice and Russell Henderson, she was 96 years old. Elaine is survived by her two daughters and their families: Trish Cortelyou-Hamilton and husband John in Atlanta, GA and daughter Jacqueline in Santa Monica, CA; and Jan Cortelyou-Lee, husband David and son Matthew in Raleigh, NC and son Seth in Bellingham, WA. Her family warmly thanks her beloved caregiver and companion Robin, her neighbors, extended family and many friends who made it possible for her to remain at home near her treasured Cohansey River. Elaine's husband, Frank Cortelyou, passed away in January 2008. They were married for over 55 years. Elaine graduated from Bridgeton High School with the class of 1944. In 1948, she graduated from Hood College in Frederick, MD with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She worked for the Atlantic City Electric Company and taught in the Bridgeton Public Schools. Later she managed the family's tomato and flower business, Cortelyou Greenhouses. She loved cooking - especially with help from her grandchildren, bird watching, visiting with friends, reading, and watching tennis. Elaine's family invites her friends and extended family to join us for a memorial service at 1 PM on December 16, 2023 pm at the Church of the Resurrection, 1209 Main Street, Millville, NJ 08332. Pauline Elizabeth (Copes) Davis, born Dec 3, 1941, to the late Martha E Stith and Fred Nocks, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at home under the care of her family and hospice. Pauline was the oldest of four children. Pauline graduated from the Bridgeton school system. She attended the Cumberland County Vo-Tech where she obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing license. She was employed as a CNA prior to receiving her nursing license at Underwood Memorial Hospital, known as Inspira Woodbury. She worked as a seamstress at Valmodes before her 27-year stint at Bridgeton Hospital. She retired from nursing in 2003, however her love for nursing led her to work an additional six years at the Cumberland Manor. When Pauline wasn't working, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends! She enjoyed cooking, especially during the holidays. Bingo was her passion and second home. She also enjoyed and looked forward to weekly family nights, crocheting, and simply enjoying the company of her grandchildren and more recently her great-grandchildren. Some of her favorite things to cook were chicken and dumplings, homemade rolls, traditional bunny cake, and her beloved yum-yum! Pauline accepted Jesus into her life at an early age. Jesus was and remained the center of her life throughout her life. She attended Union Baptist Temple, Mt. Carmel AME, before joining Mt Zion AME Church 207 Vine St Bridgeton NJ. She was a member of the Voices of Faith, the Alice Wilson Missionary Society, Stewardess Board #3 and an Usher. She also served on the Kitchen Committee. Her grandchildren have fond memories of riding place in her Dodge Dynasty listening to Al Green and Shirley Caesar continuously and "watch them dogs" sermon by the late Reverend B. W. Smith, Jr. Pauline is survived by; her siblings, Bethsheba Taylor (Leroy)NJ, Debra Stith NJ, David Stith (Jackie) TN; children, Michael Davis, NJ, Diana Wright, NJ, Donna Graves VA, Joyce Davis-Dunkins NJ, and Steven Davis I NJ; two stepsons, Christopher Davis and Dante Davis; her grandchildren, Jennifer Hartsfield (Carl), Jenise Graves, Jenisha Davis, Duane Graves Il, Steven Davis Il, Derik Wright (Roberta), Kristorpher Wright, Jermaine Dunkins, Niyara Butler; bonus grandchildren, Rashanna Yusuf, Tiana Dunkins, Bonita and Tiffany Davis; great grandchildren, Jasmine Davis, Steven Davis ll, JaNiyah Graves, Tahmaj Graves, K hari Banks Semar Davis, Rashon Butler, Autumn Butler, Samani Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, Geneva Avery, Sharon Brown, Catherine Green, and Delia Price, her special little friend and a special Godson, Jason Stith. Mark D. Couch Sr, 63, of Bridgeton, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, under the care of hospice and his family. Mark was born and raised in Upper Deerfield to the late James Couch and Esther Rempfer Couch and was a Bridgeton resident for the past 39 years. He was a graduate of the first class at Cumberland Regional High School class of 1978. Mark was the purchasing manager and had worked for Palmieri Electric for the past 30 years. Prior to that he had worked for M&G electric. Mark was an AVID Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking walks, and planning vacations to Wildwood with his children. Mark loved to go to the race track at Delaware Park and watch horse racing on TV. Mark was an AVID fisherman and also enjoyed going hunting and spending time with his Uncle Danny. Mark was very particular about his yard work and took pride in making it look good. He is survived by; his children, Mark D. Couch Jr. of Millville and Laura C. Couch of Bridgeton; his former wife and most recent caretaker, Marge Couch of Bridgeton; his siblings, John (Valerie) Couch of Laurel Lake, Tim (Kim) Couch of Millville, James E.
