Joe Howard WilliamsJoe Howard Williams, born February 3, 1956 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Howard and Norma Jean Williams, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022, in Richmond, TX, at the age of 66. His early years were spent in Oklahoma and he graduated from John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City in 1974. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1978 and in 1984, he earned his Master's Degree in Physical Education from Northwest Missouri State. On March 17, 1990 he married Carolyn Hearon in Mobile, Alabama where they lived for most of their married life until moving to Houston, TX eight years ago. Through the years, Joe had many jobs including store owner, counselor, and recreational therapist, but his true calling was coaching. Known to so many as Coach Joe, he inspired countless young people to be their best selves. He loved being on the field, running shoes on his feet, whistle around his neck, and hat on his head coaching "his kids". Joe was a proud Okie, a diehard OU fan, and an avid fan of almost all sports. As a competitive runner the Olympics always held a special place in his heart. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, a perpetual dog owner, and a lover of music and movies. Family was very important to Joe. As the baby of nine children, his family is large and loved, but his heart and time belonged to his wife and son. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carolyn Hearon Williams; son, Joseph Hamner Williams; sisters; Judy (Harold) Bernhardt of Omega, OK, Linda (Danny) Darling of El Reno, OK, Barbara Sawyer of El Reno, OK, and Norma (Bobby) Rafe of Oklahoma City, OK; brother-in-law, Jim Strack of Watonga, OK; sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Williams of Bethany, OK, Elaine Williams of Edmond, OK, Amy Hearon of Ayden, NC, and Christy Isler of Ayden, NC; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Ray Williams and Norma Jean Nelson Williams; brothers, Dusty Williams and Ronnie Williams; and sisters Sharon Strack and Carla Fairbank. Because of the generosity of a single stranger, we were blessed with an extra 31 years with Joe. So if anything, become an organ donor in Joe's memory. Memorial gifts may also be given to Donate Life America, www. donatelife. net; or to McGill Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile, AL (attn. : Cross Country and Track and Field Programs), 1501 Old Shell Road, Mobile, AL 36604, www. mcgill-toolen. org.
