October 8, 1944 - September 11, 2023 Joanne Tamburino, 78, of Flat Rock, MI, passed away on September 11, 2023. Joanne was the loving wife of Gabe Tamburino of 56 years. In addition to her husband, Joanne is survived by her daughter Lisa (Rick) Grapp, son Todd (Jennifer) Tamburino, and daughter Kristin Upton. She is also survived by four grandchildren, John Tamburino, Henry Tamburino, Nathan Upton, and Madison Upton, as well as three great grandchildren. Joanne was an accomplished Registered Nurse, graduating from St. Elizabeth Hospital Nursing School (Youngstown, OH) in 1965. She continued her career in Allen Park, MI, specializing in geriatrics for another 32 years. Joanne loved cosmetology and, after retiring from nursing, pursued this passion with Merle Norman until beginning her battle with Multiple Sclerosis in 1997. A mass will be held at St. Roch Catholic Church in Flat Rock, MI, this Thursday, 9/14/23, with viewing prior to the mass. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Joanne's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . Cremation will take place at The On-Site Crematory located within the Molnar Funeral Homes - Brownstown Chapel.

Janet Mary Atherton, age 82, of Flat Rock, Michigan passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan. Born on May 28, 1941 in New Boston, Michigan, she was the daughter of Ernest and Gladys (Laura) Bloomfield. On May 23, 1959 she married Harry Atherton at St. Roch Catholic Church in Flat Rock, Michigan. She had many things that she absolutely loved. One of her top things was shopping! She loved buying her jewelry and getting dolled up to go somewhere. She was a flirtatious lady, who enjoyed sunbathing and was well known for her great sense of humor. Her favorite color was pink, and everyone knew that. She loved sweets, all while cooking for everyone around. Most of all, she enjoyed taking care of her family, which is extremely large. Janet made sure every holiday was special for her family. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Harry W. Atherton, father, Ernest George Bloomfield, mother, Gladys Pearl Bloomfield, son, Steven Atherton, son, Douglas Atherton, brother, Donald Bloomfield, brother, Marvin Bloomfield, brother, Ken Bloomfield, sister, Beverly (Neal) Bloomfield, sister in law, Mary Bloomfield, sister in law, Anne Bloomfield. Frederick L. Anderson, age 62, of Flat Rock, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at his residence. Born on August 9, 1961 in Selma, Alabama, he was the son of Bettie Anderson. On April 24, 1993 he married Wendy Witherspoon in Taylor, MI. He was employed for 27 years at the Ford facility in Flat Rock and in the last nine years at the Ford Dearborn stamping plant. Fred loved to cook, his favorite part about cooking was being able to go to the grocery store and spending many hours in there. Another place he loved to spend his time was the movie theatre, which he went every Monday on his day off. He loved to go camping and boating in the summer time. He also enjoyed sports and music. He played basketball in college for Delta Community College and Mott community college. He also coached basketball at summit academy in flat rock. He will always be remembered as a family man who loved his entire family including his many nieces and nephews. Even if you weren't family, if you entered into Fred's life you were treated as family. He positively impacted our lives and he will truly be missed. Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Bettie Jean Anderson, sister, Loretta Rembert. Kenneth J. Walker, age 75, of Flat Rock, Michigan, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Born on October 20, 1947 in Detroit, he was the son of James and Celine (Libert) Walker. On May 20, 1977 he married Theresa Walker in St. Christopher Catholic Church, Detroit. In 1971 Ken received his BS in Elementary Education from Mercy College in Detroit. In the summers while working on his degree, he was employed as a camp counselor at the CYO Boys Camp in Port Sanilac, Michigan, which he never forgot, and which fostered in him his lifelong passion for camping. However, his career path would lead him in another direction. He applied for a job at newly formed Wayne County Community College as an Educational Administrator, and remained there for 40 years until retiring in 2011. Ken would also eventually teach students, but college students, after he pursued and received his MS in Geography from Eastern Michigan University in 1991. Ken was especially elated when several years ago, he traveled to Washington D. C. where he saw his thesis on Basic Weather Elements displayed at the Library of Congress. In 1992, he began teaching an Earth Science telecourse at Wayne County Community College, which included a lab. His favorite lessons were on continental drift and of course, rocks and minerals. Ken built up an extensive rock collection which he cherished. His passion for rocks extended to some of his grandkids, which he greatly enjoyed. Besides camping and rock collecting, Ken loved golfing, photography, basketball, and sailing. He was a huge Star Wars fan, and was interested in anything that had to do with space. Moreover, he was a talented piano player, constantly playing at home and at times, sharing his talents with family and at church and community events. Furthermore, his athletic talents and passion for basketball led to him to playing as a starting guard on Mercy College's basketball team, although barely 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was very proud of his sons and they will tell you so themselves. He even made them scrapbooks of all of their achievements over the years. And he loved his 10 grandkids. One of the last things he did was to buy all the kids an adopt a puppy or kitten toy. He even wanted to help the kids fill out the proper paper work. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, John. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Walker; sons, Kevin (Kara), Kurtis, Nicholas (Sara), Anthony (Brittany); grandchildren, Hayden, Joseph, Luke, Avery, Stella, Skylar, Gabriel, Alyse, Oliver, Abigail; siblings, Steven (Stephanie), Patricia (Steven) Lenard; sister in law, Gina. Memorial Visitation will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home - Flat Rock Chapel, on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Time of Prayer will be held at 4 pm Thursday, and a Time of Sharing will commence at 6:30 pm Thursday. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Roch Catholic Church on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11:00 am. Father Ray Lewandowski will officiate the Mass. Sally Curcio of Flat Rock, Michigan passed away in the early hours of Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the age of 80. Beloved wife of the late John Curcio. Cherished mother of the late Julie Ann Rivett, the late Robert Anthony Bivins, and dear stepmother to Jeannine (Roy) Dodson, and Derrick (Linda) Curcio. Loving Nana of Katherine Bivins, Olivia Bivins, Alexis Bivins, and John Curcio. Caring mother-in-law of Christopher Rivett and Chris Bivins. Dearest sister of Helen (the late John) Albertson, and Shari Schulte. Devoted aunt of Michelle (Ty) Hadrian, Joseph (Sheryl) Sowa, and Helen "Dee Dee" (Brian) Erickson. Sally was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Maude Woldanski, her siblings Dorothy Sowa and Sonny Woldanski, and her nephew John McBride. Sally will be deeply missed by many loving family and friends.
