While in high school on the way to a basketball game, a flat tire would start a love story of over 60 years when Joanne met Bill. They were married in the chapel at St. Mary's College on December 14, 1963. In 1982 Joanne began working for the Richmond Braves Baseball Club in Richmond, Virginia. She would go on to work there for 27 years before retiring in 2009. She was beloved by her coworkers, being referred to as "mom" for many of them. The Diamond forever held a special place in Joanne's heart, and continues to in the hearts of her family as many evenings were spent there watching baseball and making memories. "Grammy" was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She adored her two granddaughters, Autumn and Brooke, and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed visiting her grand-dog, Teddy every day for walks. Joanne has touched the lives of many people and will forever be missed. Services will be held at 11 a. m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Road, Mechanicsville, Virginia. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
