Brigitte M. Bryant, of Zanesville, passed away on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024. Brigitte was born on July 25th, 1937, in Erfurt, Germany. She was educated in German, French, and English translation and worked as a translator in Germany before she got married. She was an outgoing person who lived life to the fullest. She was a wife and mother who raised three children with her husband. She also had a career as a travel agent in Zanesville which took her on many adventures. Brigitte appreciated art, particularly paintings. She was an avid reader of history. Brigitte was a Christian all her life and attended First Christian Church in recent years. Survived by her son Robert F. (Jane) Bryant of Portland, Oregon, daughter, Susan L. (Steven) Boyer of Westerville, and grandsons Kenneth and Kurt Boyer of Columbus. Preceded in death by her father Frederick, her mother Susanne, her brother Peter, her loving husband Robert W. Bryant, and her daughter Sarah E. Banco of Columbus. McGee (Kirkbride). In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her brother, Carl E. McGee Jr. Karen leaves to cherish her memory, her special friend and caretaker, William Day; good friends, Carol and Jeff Lemley; nieces and nephews, as well as many other friends and family. Karen enjoyed golfing and bowling when she was able. She will be missed by all that knew her. Penny Rae Scott, 68, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born June 19, 1955, in Zanesville to the late Vernon and Charlotte Wise Porter. She was a 1973 graduate of West Muskingum High School. Penny received her cosmetology certificate from Carousel Beauty College and worked at Elder Beerman’s in the make-up department. Her grandson was her life and she enjoyed watching him grow into the young man that he is today. She is survived by her husband Dave Scott; daughter Angie (Derek Alford) Porter; a brother Pat (Paula) Porter; a sister Polly (Rick) Jesse; mother-in-law Donna Scott; her grandson Jarrett Alford; brother-in-law Doug (Cindy) Scott; sister-in-law Dodie (Chauncey) Warstler; a special niece Kali Rae Parrish; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a nephew Colt Porter, and father-in-law Jim Scott. Constance “Connie” K. (Carter) Burns, 89, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away on February 18th, 2024, at Altercare Zanesville after a life well lived. Connie was born July 9, 1934, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Fred and Helen (Baughmann) Carter. She had one younger sister, Jan (Carter) Lucas of Zanesville, and a step-sister later in life, Elsie Ann (Hansel) Derry. She married her husband, William “Bill” Burns July 7th, 1955. Connie had two daughters, Molly and Julie, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Connie attended Bethesda School of Nursing in Zanesville and successfully graduated in 1955. She went on to work as the staff nurse at Mosaic Tile and Armco and then at Bethesda Hospital. She would later be Head Nurse in the latter part of her career. She enjoyed reading novels and her Bible, traveling with her husband Bill, and eating good food with her family. In her life she attended of Brighton Presbyterian Church, Brighton Free Methodist Church, Coburn United Methodist Church, and Central Trinity United Methodist Church. She was always ready to listen or have a chat with you. Connie is survived by her sister, Jan and brother-in-law, Jim; a daughter Julie Cater; son-in-law David Smith; grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Ryan (Jamie) Dulin, Taylor Cater, Paige Cater (Dustin Holstein), Jamie Smith-Ellis (Kyle Ellis); and great grandchildren Chloe Holstein, Jack & Ava Dulin. Connie is preceded in death by her parents Helen and Fred; husband, Bill; daughter, Molly Smith; step-sister Elsie; and a granddaughter Lindsay Cater. Connie was a friend to all, and a fierce advocate for doing right by her loved ones. She once tackled a bully as a kid, and her family believes she was feisty to the end. Mamaw will be sorely missed, but her family knows she has moved on to a much better place. She was born June 18, 1957 in Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of William Smock and Margaret "Peg" Cain Smock. Julie was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, was a Licensed Practical Nurse having worked at Genesis Healthcare & most recently at The Chestnut House in Newark. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandson. She is survived by her son, Mark Allen Cain Hinds; a grandchild, Mark Allen Hinds II; two sisters, Rebecca Wilson, and Erin Shrimpton; many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Julie was preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandparents, Mary and Ralph Cain and paternal grandparents, Edith and John Lenoard Smock. No public visitation or funeral services will be observed at this time. A celebration of life service will be held later. Memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Shelter Society. Nita was born on May 5, 1956, in Zanesville, Ohio. She is the daughter of the late Frank H. Sr. and Lafern (Samson) Edington. Nita loved laying out in the sun at the beach, playing games on her phone, and most importantly spending time with her family. Nita was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose memories will always be cherished by the ones she leaves behind. Nita is survived by her devoted husband of thirty-nine years, Gregg Norris, whom she married on February 17; her children, Michelle (Fred) Morgan, Shree (Brian Boyd) Hutton, James (Shannon) Stackhouse; her grandchildren, Octaisha, Gage, Kiera, Taylor, Shreona, Thomas, and James; her great-grandchildren, Clayton, Hayden, Kingston, and Zuri; her sister, Vonnie (Tom) Dunaway; her mother-in-law, Sam Norris; her brothers-in-law, Ronnie Norris, Chris Norris; her sister-in-law, Autumn Norris; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was a member of the Muskingum Valley Boating Association, was an avid woodworker and worked for the Lear Corporation for many years.
