"Joan Pound, of Lewis Center, Ohio went home to be her Lord and Savior on May 6, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born in Newark, Ohio (Nov. 1932) and was the oldest of five children. Joan attended and graduated from Newark High School and worked at Ohio Power. She married Gerald Pound in June of 1953 and they resided in Newark until they moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1957. Joan had multiple interests and talents* She loved the Lord - was active in the church, taught a ladies bible study for 20 years, and ensured her family knew of the Saving Grace of Jesus. She loved music - was a church organist for 40 years, taught piano in the home, was a member of the Northland Organ Club, and was partner in a piano duo for 15 years playing at various retirement and independent living centers around central Ohio. She loved sewing and needlework - led an embroidery, quilting, sewing group. She was a member of the Westerville Senior Center and taught her friends many (card) games. Above all, she was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her faith is grounded in the Gospel of Christ and promise of eternal life. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (NASB): Now I make known to you, brothers and sisters, the gospel which I preached to you, which you also received, in which you also stand, 2 by which you also are saved, if you hold firmly to the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 3 For I handed down to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 (NASB): For if we believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead, so also God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. 15 For we say this to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore, comfort one another with these words. She is survived by her children, David (Debbie) Pound, Susan Pound; grandson Aaron (Jackie) Pound; two sisters (Clare Ann and Kathy), nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband (Gerald), parents (Michael and Margaret), sister (Claudia), and brother (Richard). Visitation and Funeral will be at Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home, Worthington, Ohio on May 13, 2023. Visitation will be from 9 am - 10 am with the funeral service immediately following at 10 am. Interment and graveside committal will be at Glen Rest Memorial Estate (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) following the funeral. Pastor Dan Hammers, Grace Polaris Church, Westerville, Ohio will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Samaritan's Purse to bring physical help and relief and the hope of the Gospel to hurting people around the world. "
