Nancy Jo Trimble (of Leawood, KS) a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother, and a pillar of strength to all who knew her, passed away on December 1, 2023, at the age of 73. She fought cancer silently with a strength that was admired by all around her. Nancy was born on July 17, 1950, in Quenemo, Kansas. The harsh realities of growing up on a farm in the 1950s and 60s were formative to her personality. She exuded a strength that those who knew her wished they could emulate. Family was the most important thing to Nancy. She met her husband Mike while attending Pittsburg State University. After college, they moved to Kansas City where they would start their family and have three children - a daughter, Stacey, and two sons, Brett and Grant. As a mother, Nancy always placed her children’s needs above her own. She parented with compassion, wisdom, and humor. She loved to be the hostess, ensuring everyone always left with full of fun memories. Nancy was renowned for her famous Christmas Eve lasagna, which brought the family together in celebration. Nancy embraced every moment of motherhood with immense joy—her dedication is etched in the hearts of her children forever. Mike and Nancy owned a construction company together where she played an instrumental role in the success of the company. Nancy and Mike loved to travel together, exploring new places and frequenting several favorites where they created memories that will be cherished forever. Along with travel, Nancy loved playing the slot machines, indulging in TV shows and movies, solving crossword puzzles, and cheering on the Chiefs, KU Jayhawks and KState Wildcats. The role that brought Nancy the greatest fulfillment in life was that of being a grandmother—a role she performed with unmatched enthusiasm. Her grandchildren Ethan, Henry, Charlie, and Georgia held a special place in her heart. Affectionately known as Miss Amaw & Grandma, she showered them with endless love and attention, spoiling them with treats, special sleepovers, and creating beautiful memories that will be cherished for generations to come. She loved to attend their games and performances and was truly their biggest fan. One of her favorite things about being a Grandma was watching the pure joy and excitement on her grandchildren’s faces as they tore through package after package at Christmas time. Nancy was not just a family-oriented woman; she also had a vibrant personality that people gravitated toward. She radiated kindness and inspiration. Her strong and compassionate nature left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Many who knew who would describe her as simply "the best.
