Joan Mahone Magoni, 91, Columbus, GA passed away on Friday, October 6th, 2023. Born December 08, 1931 in Columbus, GA she was the daughter of the late Marion and Runette (Knowles) Mahone. Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. Graduated from Columbus High School in 1949 and attended University of GA. She enjoyed working with her hands creating beautiful works of art, sewing, needlework, knitting, painting and pottery. She loved watching her grandsons participating in different sports through the years. Survivors include her daughter, Jena (Mote) Andrews; her grandchildren, Mote W. Andrews IV, Bobby (Macy) Andrews; her great-grandchild, Meriwether B. Andrews. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bobby) Magoni and her son, Matthew H. Magoni. Private burial will take place in Parkhill Cemetery with her immediate family. Family will visit with friends at Mote and Jena Andrews' home on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Ellen Louise Blackwell, 87, of Columbus, GA died Friday, December 1, 2023 at her residence. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 4, 2023 at Parkhill Cemetery with Pastor Barbara Starling officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Ellen was born May 7, 1936 in Crawford, AL to the late Eddie Lee Brown and Willie Harrison Brown. She was a tufting machine operator at Columbus Mills. Ellen was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and a friend to many. She was a devout Christian and a member of Kirkland Memorial Church. She loved all of church friends. She loved working in her yard, playing cards and Bingo and spending time with her family. But, most of all she loved her dog "Moe". A special thank you to her niece/friend Kathryn Bailey for the wonderful care she provided to our Mom. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Blackwell, sons, Danny Michael Blackwell and Tommy Lee Blackwell. Cuba- Grant Allen Gravitt, 52, of Cuba, passed away, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Piedmont Columbus Regional-Midtown Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. He was born on March 11, 1971 in Peoria. He married Kathryn (McIntyre) Ringenberg on October 12, 2019 in Cuba. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Kody (Jessica) Gravitt of Canton; Kyle Gravitt of Lewistown; Carlie Gravitt of Farmington; Jacob (Breanna) Ringenberg of Chillicothe; Jessica (Kyle) McManis of Hope, Indiana; six grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden Gravitt; Aubree Staley, Brantley Ringenberg; Mackenize and Michael McManis; two brothers, Derek Gravitt of Pontoosuc; Erin Gravitt of Macomb, and one sister, Brenda Johnson; brother-in-law's, Chris McIntyre of Cantrall, Benjamin (DeeAnn) McIntyre of Chillicothe, Casey (Brittany) Steiner of Cary; sister-in-law, Angela (Brian) Garis of Cincinnati, Ohio, along with many nieces and nephews. Grant worked and retired from the United States Army as a Staff Sargent, retiring in 2005 after 18 years of service, and later receiving his welding certificate from Midstate College, working for various companies as a welder. Grant had a love for the outdoors, whether it be fishing, hunting, or spending hours scouring the forest floors for mushrooms. He enjoyed working on his vehicles, usually with one of his sons by his side as he did so, and had a passion for riding most anything on two wheels. Grant also loved to work in his and Kathryn's gardens, and got joy from being able to share the fruits and their labors with others. Grant was well-liked and deeply loved and respected by many people, and will be missed. Per the family wishes, there will be no services, and cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton. Burial of ashes will take place in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois at a later date. Carole Annette Cacciatore, age 81, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023. A visitation for Annette will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907, on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. A committal service will conclude services at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. Annette is a dedicated child of God and attended Evangel Temple and Edgewood Assembly of God. She would regularly spend time participating as a member of the Edgewood Activities Center. Annette was a 1960 graduate of Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama. She did clerical work for Dixie Bearing for many years. Annette enjoyed traveling, especially to Panama City Beach, and reading. She loved Alabama Football and spent her time making memories with her family. Annette will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Annette is preceded in death by her Son, Joseph Samuel Cacciatore Jr. ; Mother, Mary Evelyn Fuller; and Father, Albert G. Allen. Annette is survived by her daughter, Angela Cacciatore; devoted brother and sister, June Allen and David "Gil" Allen; grandchildren, Noah, Charles, and Benjamin; six Great-grandchildren; specially loved nephew, Kaleb Allen (Amber); and great-nephew, Riley Allen. Ruth Ann Jones, 70, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023. Ruth was born on December 25, 1952 in Frankfurt, Germany to Charles and Phyllis Jones. After living in Germany for some time, her father was then assigned to Fort Benning in 1961. Since then, she has remained in Columbus the rest of her life. In 1970, Ruth was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and has remained devoted to serving our creator her whole life. She loved sharing hope of a world without suffering with all that she could. She was employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield for 8 years and held various other clerical jobs. Ruth loved her cats, especially Whiskers and Leo. She liked to read, cook, play card games, shop, visit friends, and go on vacations to Savannah. Ruth was grateful for her friend; Joyce Hatcher, her loving, spiritual caregivers; Leopolia and Carrolyn Cheney, her oldest friend; Michele Barfield, and her devoted sister; Deborah. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Phyllis Jones, and her sister; Victoria Roti. She is survived by her sister; Deborah Cordy, her nieces; Phyllis Campbell and Rebecca Shannon, as well as great nieces and nephews and many friends. Mrs. Ana Delia Hix, 92, of Columbus, GA, died Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at St. Francis-Emory Healthcare. Services will be held at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Ana was born Tuesday, December 16, 1930 in Manati, Puerto Rico, to the late Vijilio De Pozo and Ana Maria Diaz-Fernandez. After graduating high school, Ana moved to New York where she met the love of her life and future husband, a solider named Webster Augustus Hix II. After Webster returned from the Korean War, they traveled wherever the Army needed them. Ana was a loving wife and together, she and Webster raised four children through the rigors of being a part of a military family. Ana was a devoted Catholic who enjoyed working on her yard in her free time. She worked as a seamstress for many years before she retired. Her family remembers their Nana as a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking for them; especially her famous Spanish steak with rice and beans. In addition to her parents, Ana is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Webster Augustus Hix II and son, Webster Albert Hix III. Karan Cargill Brown, 70, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 26, 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday December 1, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Green officiating. Karan was born September 30, 1953 in Columbus, GA to the late Gillespie Thacker Cargill and Joan Wood Freeman Cargill. After graduating high school, Karan attended college to pursue a career as an educator. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA with a Masters Degree in Special Education. Through her career as an educator, she taught at various schools and eventually retired after more than 32 years from the very same high school she attended as a teenager, Hardaway High School. Karan was a member of the Junior League of Columbus, GA, an avid reader, loved riding horses and being around her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her younger sister, Kay Cargill Ellison.
