Joan Lewis Obituary

Joan Lewis, 89, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord Jesus, Thursday, September 7, 2023. Funeral: 9:30 am Monday, September 18, 2023 at Greenwood Chapel Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park at Greenwood Visitation: 6 to 7 pm Sunday, September 17, 2023 Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan's name to Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County. Joan was born October 4, 1933 in Shanghai, China. During World War II, her family was imprisoned in a Japanese Concentration camp for three years. At the end of the war, they sailed to England where they lived for 18 months before the family immigrated to the United States in 1947 to live in San Francisco. She met the man she would marry in San Francisco, a young sailor named Bobby Ray Lewis, who was stationed in California. They married in 1952 and had three sons, Marshall, Mark and Martin. She became a naturalized citizen in 1962 of which she was very proud. Joan embraced being a stay at home mom. She was an accomplished seamstress and painter. She was also wonderful at knitting, and never met a household remodel job she wouldn't take head on. She enjoyed singing and line dancing, volunteered at the hospital and worked at the church office while raising their three sons. She enjoyed serving others. Joan was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family and friends well. Joan was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Grace Borsberry and her husband, Bobby Ray Lewis. Survivors: Sons, Marshall and wife, Jayne of Benbrook: Mark and wife, Traci of Dennis: Martin and wife Trina of Plainview: Nine grandchildren: Nine great grandchildren: Sisters Beverly Domeniconi of San Francisco and Rachel Beck and husband Jack of Spirit Lake, Idaho, Glo Scott, sister in law of Tyler and numerous nieces and nephews. We love you Lola, and we will see you again!
