Joan A. (Warren) Frenkiewich, 77, of Littleton, NH passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023, at home surrounded by the love of family and friends. She was a kind and gentle woman with the utmost strength, tenacity, and courage against the greatest of adversities. Joan was born July 28, 1945, in Camden, NJ to parents, Thomas and Claire Warren where she was raised and attended school. In 1965, Joan married the love of her life, John Frenkiewich happily living in Manahawkin, NJ for over 35 years where they raised their two daughters. John predeceased her in 2001. In 2002, Joan moved to Littleton to follow a new chapter of her life. Joan is survived by her daughters; Donna Thompson and husband Brian Thompson of Littleton and Karen Frenkiewich and husband Adrian 'Spotty' Bowles of Mill Creek, WA. Also of Littleton, are the other great loves of her life, grandchildren Victoria and Tyler Thompson. The widespread east coast family includes her brothers, Thomas Mihalko along with wife, Barbara, William Warren, John Baglivio with wife Michelle and sisters Jaqueline Zang and Dorothy Radcliff (d. 1989). Loving in-laws include Ron and Beverly Frenkiewich, Carl and Betty Lou Baldini, and Bruce and Mary Lou Holl. Joan is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joan loved to entertain and create beauty and joy. Every holiday and season were special and ready to be celebrated. Joan loved to cook and make memories for all events, from St. Patrick's to Easter to Daytona 500 parties. As a life-long hobbyist and crafter, she shared her joys of creating. Her vast talents included crocheting, sewing and hand-painted ceramics. Joan was an avid gardener, enjoyed games from Scrabble to cards. She appreciated nature whether on Long Beach Island or in the White Mountains. Joan also enjoyed volunteering over the years as a Girl Scout leader, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish's Festival of the Sea, at Littleton Regional Hospital and at Lakeway Elementary School for her grandchildren's class events. A Celebration of Joan's Life for her NH family and friends will be held at her home in Littleton on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Joan's true essence of hospitality will be honored with her favorite, delicious foods and enjoying company. Later, a private family service and internment will be at St. Mary's Parish in Barnegat, NJ in October. Joan is forever missed, but her caring and determined spirit lives strong in our hearts.

George William Marlborough, aged 73, a longtime resident of Littleton, New Hampshire, peacefully departed this life on December 5th, surrounded by those dearest to him. Born on November 13th, 1950, to Ruth Ann and George E. Marlborough in Boston, Massachusetts, George attended South Boston High School, graduating in 1968. In the late 70s, he made Landaff, NH his home before meeting the love of his life, Anne Quinn, and subsequently relocating to Littleton a few years later. Their union in 1983 marked the beginning of a remarkable and fulfilling journey that spanned nearly four decades. George's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to family. He held a deep devotion for his two children and his many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Renowned for his passion for history, art, story telling, making mixtapes, cooking, craftsmanship, and the outdoors, George was a multifaceted individual who immediately became friends with everyone he met. Whether working on home projects, meticulously carving wooden art, sketching, telling stories about his youth and fascination with history, or casting a line into the waters during fishing excursions, he embraced his diverse interests while cherishing precious moments with his loving family. He was hard not to like and everyone he met adored him for his genuine and loving personality. George worked at Garnet Hill in Franconia, NH for many years as a shipping / receiving supervisor until it closed and then retired from the Mittersill Resort where he worked in maintenance. George leaves behind his loving wife, Anne, their two children, Sarah (Jeremy MacBain) and Brian Quinn, Sarah's children, Kaleb and Emilie Tyrrell, and Brian's children, Liam Quinn and Julia Scotti. He is also survived by his two sisters, Deborah (Leo) and their children, Kyle and Kevin, Cheryl (Eddie), their children, Katie (Keith) and Leanne, and Katie's daughter, Aubrey, as well as many other nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by his parents, George and Ruth Marlborough, and grandson, Michael Moffett as well as nephew, Christian Butler and niece, Claire Fendt. We know that George is Rockin' the Blues in Heaven now. We will miss him every moment for the rest of our lives.Show more

Donald Lavoie

Donald J "Donnie" Lavoie of Bethlehem, NH passed away peacefully in his home on November 29, 2023 at the age of 66, surrounded by those who love him. He died 10 days after being diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob's Disease. He is survived by his wife, Meglyn (Bull) Lavoie, his daughter, Grace Anne Lavoie and her partner Daniel Shamberger of Lincoln, NH, stepson Declan Bull of Philadelphia, PA, and his sister Lorraine Lavoie and her wife, Lucie Bolduc of Wells, ME. Donnie was born in Littleton, NH in 1957, to Charles A Lavoie and Donna (Wysocki) Lavoie. He graduated from Littleton High School in 1975, attended Bryant College in Smithfield, RI for his freshman year, then graduated from Colby College in Waterville, ME with a Bachelor's of Business in 1979. Later in life, he achieved a lifelong dream by attending White Mountains Community College where he received a certificate of Massage Therapy in 2019, and opened a studio in his home in Bethlehem, where he devoted his time to serve people in need of comfort. Donnie was a lifelong resident of Bethlehem, NH, with a few short stays in Colorado, Alaska, and Maine. He loved his hometown and took his civic duty very seriously. He held positions in Bethlehem's town government for most of his life, beginning in 1987 and serving until his death. In addition, he served on many non-profit boards in the community, including Littleton Regional Hospital, North Country Community Radio, Mount Eustis, and most recently, he co-founded Bethlehem Reimagined, a community and economic development organization. He worked in the family business, Lotta Rock Dairy, from an early age until it was sold to Deering Ice Cream in Portland, ME. He then worked for Sno. engineering as the Business Manager, until he left to open Exit 41 Rentals, which later became P&S Equipment. Each of his businesses served the community and the people of the North Country above everything else. We will recall Don as a thoughtful man, highly intelligent, who loved his family and knew how to have fun. He enjoyed the outdoors in countless ways, including skiing, biking, whitewater rafting, scuba diving, hiking, canoeing, camping, and kayaking. He loved his chainsaw, chocolate, music, photography, gin, ice cream, cigars, irish whiskey, refunds, white birds, and most of all, enjoying these things with his friends and family. Don greeted the world with a gleam in his eye and a wicked grin. He delighted in simple things, taking time to savor the world. He made his morning coffee by grinding beans in a hand grinder and making hot water in a kettle on the wood stove. He was patient, loved simplicity, and working with his hands. He never sat still - when he had free time, he would cut/stack wood for the wood stove, reimagine lawn layouts to include natural areas, or create new playlists for his 30,000 song music library. (Who else would create a playlist called "Blues Hussies"?) He loved sharing all these activities with his family - rafting with Grace on the Salmon River, paddling with Meglyn at their cottage on Pensioner Pond, building a treehouse and zipline on Swazey Lane for Declan, and jamming with all of them at Jerry Jam. Don's final act of selflessness was to allow an autopsy by the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center at Case Western Reserve University, hoping to find answers about the horrible disease that took him from us. BRI is creating a program in his honor to foster the next generation of community leadership, while continuing the projects that were important to him and his town. Karen Carbonneau

Age - 74

We are sad to announce, Karen Lyn Carbonneau passed away comforted by loved ones on the morning of December 5, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Victor R Carbonneau Sr. for 50 years. Karen was born in the town of Holyoke, Massachusetts on November 28, 1949. , daughter of the late David A. Johnston V and Marjorie Ann (Wheatley) Johnston. She graduated from Holyoke High School and Holyoke Community College with an Associates Degree before attending Dean-Traut School of Floristry in New York City. Throughout childhood, Karen was actively involved with numerous organizations like the Girl Scouts, 4-H Club, Boy Scouts and Church. She was the Secretary of the Southampton Historical Society. Karen modeled her deep passion for community involvement with her own children by continuing as a Cub Scout and 4-H Leader. For over 20 years, Karen volunteered with the Scottish Arts of New Hampshire by serving on the Board of Conveners for the St. Andrew's Society of NH, the Board of New Hampshire School of Scottish Arts and the Dance Coordinator for Highland Dance at the New Hampshire Highland Games. In addition, Karen continued her faith in God as a member of The First Congregational Church, Littleton, NH; she served as a Deacon, a member of the women's society and the chair of the Caring Tree. Each card for the Caring Tree was made by scratch and unique in design. Karen's kindness, generosity and creativity shined in every act for others. Those who she met were soon adopted into her family; where her support and passion to teach arts, crafts, gardening and cooking brightened the lives of all she touched. Her luster for life and affection for others will be truly missed. Karen is survived by her husband, children and their spouses: her son Victor Carbonneau Jr. and wife Hannah Carbonneau, her son Mark Carbonneau and wife Kris Carbonneau, her daughter Nancy Goddette and husband David Goddette, and her daughter Hannah DeOlympio and husband Pete DeOlympio. Karen also leaves behind her brother David A Johnston VI and sister Dale Peer and five grandchildren Ben Carbonneau, Maxwell Goddette, Chantal Goddette, Sophie DeOlympio and Owen DeOlympio. Karen was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose memory will be carried in our hearts. DJ Garneau Daniel Richard Garneau Jr. (DJ) passed away peacefully at home on November 20, 2023. He was born on March 6, 1982, to Daniel Richard Garneau Sr. and Jacqueline Ruth (Brodeur) Garneau of Twin Mountain. DJ was a 2001 graduate of WMRHS. DJ had his own business (DJ Garneau Landscaping) enjoying the finished products of his landscaping and driveways. He found joy in the satisfaction he provided for his customers. Starting at a very young age, DJ was a jack of all trades. He was very mechanically inclined. DJ enjoyed outdoor activities such as riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles, hunting, and fishing. He shared many of the outdoor activities he loved with family and friends. DJ was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Grampy John and Grammie Brodeur. He is survived by his loving wife Tamther (Tammy) Garneau, his beloved boys Ryder and Remick Garneau, his step-sons Alex Dow and Eric Payette-Knights, his granddaughter Aurora Dow, his parents Dan and Jackie Garneau, his sister Nichole (Garneau) Treadway, his brother-in-law Bill Treadway, his nieces, Piper and Quinn Treadway, and his grandparents, Grampy Brodeur, Grampy Butch, June Garneau, and Gram Staples, along with many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends. Michael Andrew Marshall, "Mikey," was welcomed into the world on April 20, 2002. Michael started his new journey on October 24, 2023, after a tragic motor vehicle accident. Michael enjoyed spending times with friends and family. His kind heart and sense of humor was known for lighting up the room. If someone was in need of a friend, Michael was always there to listen, encourage, and find a positive solution to whatever problem was presented. Michael enjoyed exploring the outdoors, listening to music, gaming, and making Tik Tok videos. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Alice Bergman and Christopher Marshall, his paternal grandparents, Carol Herbert, and David R. Schultz, his mother, Jean Marshall, father, David D. Schultz, four siblings: Angel, Chloe, Nathaniel, and Morrigan. He is also survived by his aunt, Micheline Schultz, and his uncles, Christopher and John Marshall, Jermey Herbert, and Stephen Schultz, as well as many cousins. Michael loved with his entire heart. The one relationship Michael cherished immensely was with his mother; they shared a bond like no other. Age - 75

Carol A. MacIver of Littleton, NH passed away on October 14, 2023 at the age of 75. Carol was a life-long resident of Littleton. She was the oldest of six children born to James and Mary (Ward) Knight of Littleton. Carol was an avid gardener, often spending hours tending to her passion. She also enjoyed traveling with her girlfriends, including her annual trip to Wells, ME with the twelve lovely ladies. She was always quick to prepare a meal for family or friends, making sure they had enough to bring some home to heat up later as a quick snack. Carol was a staple in town, often supporting the local establishments, especially Theater UP (formally known as the UPstage Players) and the Garden Club. Surviving family members include her two sons, Duncan MacIver and Angus (Julie) MacIver; four grandchildren, James, Chloe, Shannon, and Kris; and her five siblings, Irene, Janet (Marty), Nancy (Dave), Sally (Ken), and John (Holly). Carol is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Per Carol's wishes, there will be no service at this time. In the spring, when her garden is in bloom, we will have one last spring fling to celebrate her life. Harry Bergin passed away at the Veteran's Hospital in White River Jct, Vt. on September 28, 2023, following a lengthy illness. His brother, Robert, wife Jean, and long time companion, Dorothy Mardin were at his side at the time of his passing. Harry was born on November 20, 1945, in Littleton, NH to Carl and Edith Bergin of Littleton, NH. He was the youngest of 5 siblings, Norma, Andrew, Barbara, and Robert. He spent his childhood in Lisbon, NH and Whitefield, NH, graduating from Whitefield High School in 1963. Following graduation, Harry was drafted into the Army, serving his country in Viet Nam. This past year Harry was presented with a Quilt of Valor for his service in the Army and to his country. Upon discharge from the Army, Harry worked locally at the Whitefield Public Works, the Wire Mill in Lisbon NH, Henschel Shoe in Littleton, NH, and lastly at Bond Auto in Littleton, NH where he retired from. Harry was predeceased by his parents, Edith and Carl Bergin, sister, Norma, brother Andrew, and step-daughter, Lisa. He is survived by his sister Barbara of Lisbon NH, brother, Robert (Jean) of Whitefield, NH, stepdaughter, Annette King of Lancaster, NH, stepson, Glen Bergin of Lisbon, NH, and many nieces and nephews. For anyone who knew Harry they will remember him, as a soft-spoken, gentle and kind person. It was important to Harry to be remembered once he passed. Robert W. "Butch" Thompson, 78 of Littleton, passed peacefully at his home of 50 years on Monday, September 11 with his loving wife of 56 years Paula by his side. Butch was born in Littleton on November 29, 1944. The son of Wallace and Lillian (Hunt) Thompson, he attended Littleton High School and was a graduate of the class of 1963. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years. Butch and Paula (Carbonneau) were married July 1, 1967, at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church where they are both parishioners. An electrician by trade, Butch's local claim to fame was sales manager of 42 years at Pilgrim's Furniture. Avid sportsman from birth, Butch's passion for deer hunting, trout, and ice fishing, was unparalleled teaching Hunters' Safety Education for the NH Fish and Game Dept for years.
