A celebration of life will be Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 11:00am in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dresden Cemetery. "

Irene is survived by her mother, Julia Gonzales; siblings, Edward Gonzalez and wife Wanda, Pete Gonzalez, Fernando Gonzalez Jr, Josie Parras and husband Davis, Julie Ann Crittenden and husband Ty, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Crawford on November 28, 1959 in Corsicana. Barabara was a member of Lone Star Cowboy Church Navarro County. She loved to ride her horse. She also loved all animals, especially her German Sheppard \u0026quot;Shiner\u0026quot;. Barabara loved her family and liked to love on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always put others ahead of herself. She is preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind the cherish the memories, husband of 64 years, A. C. "Richard Thomas Stearns, 87, passed from this life on November 25, 2023. Richard was born in Irving, Texas on January 1, 1936, to Charles. M Stearns and Effie D. Richard graduated from Irving high school in 1955. He was a technician at General Motors and retired in 1999 after 42 years. Richard loved to bass fish across lakes in Texas, liked to build and remodel and was a \u0026quot;honey do-er\u0026quot; for his wife. He also loved football. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary Stearns, his parents, brother Charles Stearns, and sister Lola Daily and grandchild Cameron Mears. He is survived by his children Retta and Dennis Williams, Ranette Mears, Ranelle Martinez, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Bobby Daily as well as a number of extended family members and friends. "Rita Bernsen of Corsicana, TX passed away at the age of 79 on November 20,2023. Rita was born on 6/2/1944 in Corsicana, TX, and was 1 of 11 siblings born to parents Talmadge DeWitt Farmer and Laura May Patrick Farmer. Rita married Wayne Bernsen of Corpus Christi Tx on May 20, 1967, and had I child, Darryl Bernsen. Rita worked at the Navarro County Tax office for 28 years and eventually held the position of Chief Deputy of the Auto Registration department. At one point she finished the vacated position of Tax Assessor for almost 1 year. Rita is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wayne Bernsen, son Darryl Bernsen, daughter in law Shannon Bernsen, Grandkids, Derek, Kelsi, and Bret, brother Buddy Farmer, sisters Lita Farr, and Barbara Blum and dozens of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rita was preceded by her parents Talmadge and Laura May Farmer, sisters, Francis Buck, Bessie Armstrong, Emma Christian, Sandra Youngblood and brothers Ed Farmer, Dwayne Farmer, and Thomas Farmer. "Cheryl Ann Hopkins April 14, 1948 - November 18, 2023 Everyone that knew Cheryl commented that she always had a big smile. Cheryl had a very positive outlook on life. Her faith and determination never allowed anything to sour her zest for life. Cheryl Ann Hopkins, 75, of Corsicana, died on November 18, 2023. She was born in Dallas, TX in 1948 to Kenneth and Ellaneita Keenum. Cheryl attended R. L. Turner High School before studying at Texas Women's University where she received a bachelor's degree. She delivered the Daily Sun newspaper for 33 years. Met a lot of people and made a lot of friends. Cheryl is survived by her husband Jerry, of 53 years, her mother Ellaneita Keenum age 97 of Farmers Branch, her sister Cindy and husband Sam Clem of Farmers Branch. Her children Christy Hopkins and Randy of Anna, Brian and Heather Hopkins of Corsicana, Bradley Hopkins and Marisol of Leander. Her grandchildren Brendan Hopkins of Paris, Haleigh Salazar of Leander, and Roxanne Salazar of Leander. Her great granddaughter Blakelyn Hopkins of Corsicana. Preceded in death by her father and grandparents. Cheryl will always be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends. She was a selfless person. Would sacrifice nearly anything for family. She loved her Texas Longhorns. Jerry and Cheryl were season football ticket holders for 20 years. Jerry and Cheryl spent countless hours watching all Longhorn sports on the Longhorn Network. Gameday in Austin, TX was an important and fun experience for Cheryl. Working in the yard with flowers was something she always enjoyed. Cheryl was active in the booster club at Corsicana High School for many years. Some of her best times were spent with the Fairy Football Moms making locker decorations. Cheryl was strong willed. When she was diagnosed with cancer, she said, "I am going to beat this!" And she did. Her determination gave her four more years with her family. In the end, it was dementia that snuck up on her. We will miss her every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. The family of Cheryl would like to thank Dr. Kent Rogers, Dr. Matthews and Dr. Nair of Texas Oncology, Bristol Hospice, Country Meadows Nursing Home and especially Heather Hopkins. A memorial service to celebrate Cheryl will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 2pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Corsicana, TX. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Dementia Society of America. "Show more
