He was born on Thursday, September 20, 1945, in Magee, Mississippi. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 11:00 a. m. until 1:00 p. m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3077 Simpson Hwy 13, Mendenhall, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 1:00 p. m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Rials Creek Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Bro. Charles Meadows will officiate. Special music will be performed by Hunter May. He loved watching the car races, communicating on the Ham Radio, traveling, and most of all spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Cliburn Russell; and his parents, W. D. and Gladys Axton Russell. Survivors include his son, Aubrey Dale Russell (Kim) of D Lo, MS; two granddaughters, Ashtin Russell Rawls of Mendenhall, MS and Taylor Russell Girgenti (Tyler) of Pleasant View, TN; four great-grandchildren, Keatin Whatley of Mendenhall, MS, Dusty Rawls of Mendenhall, MS, Axton Rawls of Mendenhall, MS and Pyper Girgenti of Pleasant View, TN; and a host of other family members and friends. Celia Ann Armstrong passed away at Hillcrest Nursing Center on Sunday, December 3, 2023. She was born on July 30, 1938, to John Thomas Barnes and Vergie Eliza Smith in Jefferson Davis County. She started playing the piano at the age of twelve. Growing up, she has played for too many churches and events to count. Most recently, she was the pianist at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, but before that, she played at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she grew up. She also played at Old Hebron Baptist Church for years. She enjoyed working outside in her garden and loved sitting on her front porch, enjoying the view and her peaceful time. Celia Ann is survived by children, John Walter Armstrong (Cami), Celia Darlene Randle, Rhonda Gale Sullivan (Al), Karen Lyn McCallum (Danny); sister, Jimmie Carol Fisher (Jimmy) and three grandchildren, Dorian Sullivan, Shannon Watkins (Bert) and Alan Fortenberry (Samantha). She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Thomas Billy Armstrong, and her parents, J. T. and Vergie Barnes. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Mt. Joe Howard Patterson(5/31/1937 - 12/2/2023) Joe Howard Patterson, 86 of Mendenhall, Mississippi passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall, Mississippi. He was born Monday, May 31, 1937 in Gulfport, Mississippi. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at First Baptist Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Mendenhall City Cemetery. Bro. Rodney Anderson and Dr. Jim Futral will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401Joe has been a member of FBC Mendenhall for many years serving as a deacon, member of the FBC choir, but his most important passion of ministry in the church was the Royal Ambassador ministry. He served as RA Director for many years and to this day many stories have been told and shared with laughter of the many camp-out trips. He helped to mold many young boys into fine Christian men. His love for Jesus was shared to many. Joe was an original founder of Simpson County Academy and his love and passion for Cougar sports was great. He along with his good friend, Mr. Gary Garrett, were seen many a "Friday night under the lights", running the fence lines cheering for their beloved Cougars. Joe was also an avid Ole Miss Rebel! Hotty Toddy! His family loved to hear the story of when he hitchhiked to Memphis, TN to watch the rebels play the Tennessee Volunteers. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the FBC Mendenhall Music Ministry. The family would also like to say a big thank you to Simpson General Hospital and We Care At Home Agency for the love and care given. was born October 13, 1962, to Reverend Walter and Geneva Lacey of Yazoo County, Mississippi. He departed this life on November 17, 2023. Walter was the oldest of six brothers and sisters. married Jackie Lacey in August of 1989, and to this union one child, Megan Jylenn Lacey, was born. He was also guardian to three of his nephews, Alvin Blue, Calvin Blue, Lonnie Blue, Jr. , and his niece, Tquondra Lacey. was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Walter Smith Lacey, Jr. ; his mother, Geneva Lacey; his sister, Patricia Lacey; and his nephew, Lonnie Blue, Jr. was baptized at an early age at the St. Paul AME Church in Natchez, Mississippi. He later became a member of the Capitol Street Church of Christ and worked as an usher. was a Hall of Fame Graduate of Cleveland High School and continued his education at Jackson State University as a Finance Major. was known for his fashionable attire, swag, and his love for grilling and cooking. He was a hard worker, known for his great work ethic and aspirational nature. He touched the lives of many of his fellow co-workers everywhere he worked. Walter was employed at Academy Sports and Outdoors in Flowood, Mississippi, as the merchandising team lead. was a tour guide on family vacations and could tell you the historical facts about any state he visited. He was a die-hard, dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan. On game day, he would gear up as if he was sitting in the Dallas Cowboys Stadium watching the game live. He loved collecting and watching movies. His favorite movie was The Godfather and his favorite TV show was The Sopranos. was greatly loved and revered by his family, friends and co-workers. He always said his greatest love, joy, and accomplishment was his daughter Megan. He was a proud father and often raved of her accomplishments. Believe it, she knew she had him wrapped around her finger. Deborah "Debbie" Diana Bradshaw was born on July 7, 1953, to James Burnell Taylor and the late Velma Sue Baynes. She left her earthly home and went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Forrest General Hospital. Debbie lived her life fearlessly and selflessly. She loved everyone she met and never met a stranger. Despite all changes she'd endured in her life, Debbie always loved the Lord and instilled it into her family to do the same. Debbie was such a loving, amazing servant of the Lord. She has been a beacon of light for so many people throughout her seventy years on this earth. Seventy years was not nearly enough time to spend with her but the Lord was ready for this angel. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Bradshaw; daughter, Tammie Lynn Wicker; mother, Velma Sue Baynes; paternal grandparents, Eva Estelle Taylor and James Madison Taylor; maternal grandparents, Luna Belle Stewart and Pink Stewart; sister, Charlotte Lynn Thomas and Damien. Mary Elizabeth Holbrook, 81, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Forrest General Hospital. She was born on November 19, 1942, to H. J. Hudson and Christine Warren Hudson in Jackson, MS. Liz was a faithful member of Goodwater Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ for over forty years. She also taught school at Magee High School for over twenty years. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, H. J. and Christine Hudson, and her husband, John Earl Holbrook and sister, Theresa Miller (Bill). She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Chip Holbrook (Theresa) and Rob Holbrook (Dana); brother, Frank Hudson (Annette); four grandchildren, Jacob Holbrook, Hannah Holbrook, Zachary Holbrook and Karlee Holbrook. He liked wrestling, going hunting, fishing and anything doing with the outdoors. He enjoyed going camping, guns and giving helpful advice.
