| | Jimmy E. "Jim" Long, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away on April 21 , 2023, at the age of 59. Born on June 23 , 1963, in Carrollton, Jim was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, known for his funny, wise, and interesting personality. Jim was a member of the CHS Wrestling team and received numerous medals during his wrestling career. He was a proud graduate of Carrollton High School with the Class of 1981, and continued his education at Culver Stockton in Canton, Missouri. Jim received a Bachelor of Science Degree in American History, and during his college years, participated in Martial Arts Competitions. He worked on his Master's Degree at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg before moving to Seattle, Washington, where he was employed at Microsoft, and later at the Space Needle. After his father's death, he returned to Carrollton to become his mother's caregiver, and Manager of Long's Auto Salvage. An avid outdoorsman, Jim loved to fish and go mushroom hunting. He was a very talented artisan who designed custom knives by cutting the blades and making intricate and unusual knife handles. Jim enjoyed giving them as gifts to friends and family. In his spare time, he liked watching movies and had quite the collection. Jim had a funny sense of humor, and a friendly smile along with his gift of gab! No matter how busy he was, he would always take time to sit down and talk. He adored his nieces and nephews and was very involved in their lives, always making time for them and sharing his wisdom and humor. Jim will be remembered as a loving and caring family man who brought joy and laughter to those around him. Jim is survived by his loving mother, Carol Long of Carrollton; one sister, Sandy Long of Carrollton; one brother, Tom Long and wife Michelle of Higginsville; nieces and nephews, Jessica Long, Haley Nowak, Thomas Long, Samuel Long, Isaac Long, Eliza Long, Jacob Long, and Molly Long; one uncle; and one aunt. He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Long; one brother, William Edward "Bill" Long; and several aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a. m. until 10:45 a. m. , on Wednesday, April 26 , 2023, at Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 North 65 Highway, Carrollton, Missouri. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a. m. , with Pastor Perry Copus officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
