"Mary Nell Limburg, age 79, of Bristol, Virginia went to be with the Lord while surrounded by family at her home on February 15, 2024. Mary was born June 1, 1944 in Bristol, Virginia to the late Charles Elliott and Florence Helen Nave. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Joe Limburg, Sr., and sisters Betty Jean Nave and Peggy Ann Tilley. Mary graduated from Virginia High School, Class of 1962. She married the love of her life, Earnest Joe Limburg, on June 16, 1962. Together, they raised two children and shared many an adventure traveling to the Great Smokey Mountains and Talladega, Alabama creating memories with their family. They celebrated 49 ½ years of marriage before Joe passed on in February of 2012. Mary was a former employee of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and retired from Xpedx, formerly Dillard Paper Company, after 34 years of service. She was a member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church at the time of her passing. Mary was dedicated to her church, her work, and most of all, her family. Her competitive spirit was unmatched when it came to a good hand of Rummy, or rooting for her favorite football team, the Washington Redskins. She is survived by her son, Ernest Joe (Penny) Limburg, daughter Penny Sue (John, J.J.) Cornett, brothers James Nave and Charles (Marie) Nave Jr., four grandchildren, Logan (Taylor) Limburg, Jennifer (Eric) Jenkins, Austin Jay (Brittany) Cornett, Chelsea Paige (Trey) Long, five great-grandchildren, Londyn Grace Limburg, Maycee Brooke and Aubree Ella Cornett, Carson Jayce and Easton Hayes Long, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M., Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Jones officiating. The committal service and entombment will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 19, 2024 in Mountain View Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends and family are also welcome to visit the home of Joe and Penny Limburg. Donna Lynn Passamonte, age 57 of Bristol, VA, entered into heavenly rest in the arms of Yeshua on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Donna was born on August 30, 1966, in Staten Island, NY to Robert and Vera Hepworth. On August 13, 1994, Donna married her soulmate, Tom Passamonte, and after 29 years of a beautiful life and raising a family together, he survives. Donna loved reading scripture and she was a true prayer warrior. She loved worshipping her Heavenly Father, and she had a servant’s heart, never expecting anything in return. She was devoted to Yahweh, her family, and friends; she was true living testimony for Yeshua Messiah. She enjoyed her grandchildren and going to the beach. Her family and friends await the day when we will all be resurrected into the glories of Heaven and be reunited with one another. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Vincent. Those left to cherish Donna’s testimony are her devoted and loving husband, Tom; their six children, Gianina Haymaker and husband Harrison and children David and Caleb, Brianna Torres and husband Dalton and children Aubree, Adam, and Aaron, Thomas Passamonte and wife Taylor, Christina Passamonte, Joseph Passamonte, and Domenick Passamonte; her sister, Kim Norman and husband Eric; her brother, Guy Hepworth; many loving nephews, nieces; and many loving family members. A private military graveside service will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN with Pastors Matthew Miller and Scott Hillman officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 3-265. Thomas Passamonte, Joseph Passamonte, Domenick Passamonte, Harrison Haymaker, Dalton Torres, and Ethan Narro will be serving as pallbearers. Charlotte was born September 17, 1942, on Caney Ridge, VA, to the late Oscar Marshall and Edrie Violet Hamilton Marshall. She was a graduate of Coeburn High School. After high school she married Arvil Carson Lawson, Sr. and celebrated 56 years. Charlotte was a lifetime homemaker for her husband and two sons. one of her favorite hobbies was bass fishing with Carson. In addition to her parents, Oscar Marshall and Edrie Violet Hamilton Marshall, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Arvil Carson Lawson, Sr; brothers, Banner, Ronnie, Randall, Willard, Rabion, and Alton; sisters, Norma Lane, Rita Faye Marshall, and Josephine Miles; father-in-law Earnest Lawson, and mother-in-law Eula Mays Lawson. She loved going to church until she became too sick to attend. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She took pride in her housekeeping, yard work, flowers and cooking for her family. Anytime anyone visited she wanted to feed them. "In Loving Memory of Mike Kovacs, age 77 of Bristol, Virginia, who passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 14, 1946 to Dr. Louis and Lee Kovacs, he embarked on a journey that touched the lives of many. Mike was a beloved husband, a devoted father to his children, and a cherished papaw to nine grandchildren. He was a loving sibling and a loyal friend and mentor to countless others. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Louis and Lee Kovacs, and a brother, Mark Kovacs. Mike shared 55 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Kay Kovacs, who stood by his side through life’s joys and challenges. Mike is also survived by his three loving children, daughter, Meredith Barlow and husband Jason, daughter, Kathryn Waddle and husband Brian, and son, Kevin, and wife Summer. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Thomas Barlow and fiancé, Hannah Arnold, Josh Barlow and fiancé, Makenzie Sheets, Nathan Barlow, Ava Waddle, Abram Waddle, Georgia Waddle, Ellyson Kovacs, Hudson Kovacs, and Stella Kovacs. He is also survived by special nieces, Amy Kovacs Sweet and LindaKay Kovacs of California, Katie Kovacs of Texas, Mary Lou Sokolow of Knoxville, Tennessee and dear friends David and Jerri Lively of Bristol, Virgina. There are many countless other family members, friends, students, and athletes who were blessed to have him in their lives. Educated at Emory and Henry College, Mike earned a degree in Recreational Management and Physical Education. He dedicated his career to education and coaching. He served in various roles throughout his career including the Recreational Director of the Bristol Juvenile Detention Center, the Executive Director of the Janie Hammit Home, the Executive Director of the Boys Club of Bristol, and as a special education instructor at Van Pelt Elementary and Virginia High School. While in the Bristol Virginia Public School System, he also worked with the VHS Athletic department on the coaching staffs for various sports teams including baseball, basketball, and football. In 1966, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served time in Vietnam as a Signal Operator. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. A true patriot at heart, he embodied the ideals of duty, honor, and sacrifice. He was passionate about his family, Virginia High Bearcat athletics, and the Tennessee Volunteers. First one in the stands to cheer on his children and grandchildren, he was our biggest fan and supporter. He never missed a football, baseball, basketball, or volleyball game, swim or track meet, tennis or soccer match, or ballet recital. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and sitting on an ocean shore fishing all day long. His enthusiasm for life was infectious, and he touched the hearts of everyone he encountered. Mike will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and unwavering love. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created. A funeral service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at 6 P.M., Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Akard Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 4 pm prior to the service. Graveside service will be held on February 9th at 11 am at Mountain View Cemetery. Officiated by Gary Breeding, Associate Pastor at NorthStar Church. Bristol, Virginia Ann Koffman Morison, 93, died Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Oakmont at Gordon Park in Bristol, Virginia. Born in Kingsport and a life-time resident, Mrs. Morison was a 1948 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, attended Hollins College (1948 – 1950) in Roanoke, Virginia, and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1952, majoring in history. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Morison in 2000, her daughter, Sarah Nelms Morison in 1996, and her parents Frances Nelms Koffman and Charles K. Koffman. Surviving are her son, Peter Whitworth Morison and wife Jane DeLoach Morison of Bristol, Virginia; grandchildren, Lena Claire Morison of Winston- Salem, North Carolina and Peter Daniel Morison of Ruther Glen, Virginia ; a brother, Charles K. Koffman, Jr. of Kingsport, Tennessee. Mrs. Morison served a number of years as chairwoman of the Kingsport Historic Zoning Commission and the Kingsport Library Commission, and as an officer of the Dobyns – Bennett Alumni Association, and as secretary of the Board of Directors of the Dobyns-Bennett Educational Foundation. She had also served on the Sullivan County Human Services Advisory Committee, was a long-time member of the Kingsport Junior League, former president of the Kingsport Book Club, and held memberships in the Wednesday Book Group, Pi Beta Phi National sorority, the Netherland Inn Association, and the Survivors’ Club. She was a lifelong member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church, Kingsport, TN. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, Virginia with Reverend Ann Aichinger officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.
