James "Jim" R. Shelts, 75, of Jacksonville, IL, died Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at his home with his wife by his side. He was born Jan. 20, 1947, in Rushville, the son of Russell and Maxine Downs Shelts. He married Susan L. Riley on July 7, 1984, in Virginia, and she survives. He is also survived by his mother, Maxine Shelts of Camden; two beloved children from a previous marriage, Denise and Michael, both of Jacksonville; one brother, Kevin (Cindy) Shelts of Camden; and nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Dennis; and one nephew, Will. Jim was a therapist in drug and alcohol abuse. He was an avid golfer with his friend Ric Smart for 28 years. He loved woodworking and loved his rock and roll. Arrangements are pending. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Christian Church of Jacksonville.
