Jewel Louise Peterson, age 93, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away on October 3, 2023. Jewel died peacefully with her eldest daughter by her side. Jewel Louise Watson was born October 18, 1929 in Mountain Grove, where she graduated from high school. She married Clinton Wayne Peterson on August 10, 1947. Jewel and Wayne moved to California in 1948 where their two oldest daughters, Glora and Sala, were born. The family moved to Oregon in 1955 where their youngest daughter, Gelena, was later born. Wayne and Jewel returned to Missouri in 1990 to be closer to family. Wayne passed away in 1996 and Jewel lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Glora and Bob Kelly, after Wayne's death. Jewel was an avid gardener, canner, and homemaker, and a talented quilt-maker, donating countless quilts to The VA Nursing Home and the Pregnancy Care Center. Jewel loved music and learned piano at an early age. She was a devout Christian, teaching Vacation Bible School and often filling the role of pianist in the churches she attended. After returning to Missouri in 1990, Jewel joined The Old-Time Gospel Singers, bringing song and joy to nursing homes around the Mountain Grove area. Jewel was kind and generous, often feeding others who were in need of extra help or company. Throughout the years, Jewel wore many hats. She worked beside Wayne on large farms in Dever-Conner, Oregon, working fields, and driving corn and grain trucks. In Redmond, they worked together in the potato processing plant Wayne managed. Later, she worked at Patrick's Hardware Store in Redmond, and in the Redmond High School cafeteria during the time their youngest daughter attended. Jewel and Wayne loved fishing, hunting, and being in nature, and instilled a deep love of the outdoors and nature in their daughters. Jewel is survived by her daughters, Glora Kelly and husband, Bob, of Shell Knob, Missouri, Sala Drake and husband, Parrish, of Boonville, Missouri, and Gelena Dedlow and husband, Tim, of Tualatin, Oregon. Jewel was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by her grandchildren, Kevin Kelly, Damien Walter, Toby Walter, Ty Dedlow, and Hannah (Dedlow) Vandervelden, and her great-grandchildren, Angelina Kelly, Lex Walter, Hazel Vandervelden and Porter Vandervelden. Jewel will be greatly missed by her family and community.

Carla Lanelle "Nellie" Eden, age 69, of Shell Knob, Missouri passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 at Aurora Nursing Center in Aurora, Missouri. She was born October 3, 1954 in Butterfield, Missouri the daughter of Carl and Ella Mae (Buntin) Brown. She was united in marriage to Jim Land in 1995 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, who preceded her in death on March 7, 2013. Shortly after, she was united in marriage to Gary Eden, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were one son, Brian Cahalan; one daughter, Bridgette Eden; two brothers, Bill Brown and Mark Brown and one sister, Norma Jean Harris. Surviving are one son, Eric Cahalan of Illinois; one daughter, Shelly Cahalan of Cassville, Missouri; one brother, Mike Brown and his wife Sharon of Goodman, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Glenna Brown of Greenfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Carla attended school in Cassville, Missouri living in this area her entire life. She was employed as a waitress at The Purdy Diner in Purdy and The Black Kettle in Monett. Carla was also a caregiver for several people in the area. She loved talking on the phone and going to casinos. Carla was of the Christian faith. The family wishes to thank the Aurora Nursing Center and Hospice Compassus of Monett for the wonderful care given to Nellie. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 6:00 P. M. Bobby Dexter Snow of Shell Knob, Mo. was born June 22, 1954, in Berryville, Arkansas, the son of Deck and Vennie Alderson Snow. He passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the age of 69. Bobby is survived by his four children; daughter, Misti McGowan (John) of Fayetteville, AR; sons, Timothy (Angela) of McKinney, TX; Dustin (Jana) of Rogers, AR; Cody (Kaila) of Jay, OK; grandchildren, Kerby Sue, Riley Renee', and Clara Grace McGowan, Autumn Mae and Ronnie Boone Snow, Satara Mae and Kenna Kayte Smith. Sisters; Cookie Graham of Forum, AR; Peggy Moon of Shell Knob, MO; and Judy Evans (Ron) of Berryville, many nieces and nephews, and Dog, Dixie. Bobby was proceeded in death by his mother and father, brothers Don and Elbert Snow; sisters, Dixie Beal and Betty Etchison, and Dog, Likker. Bobby was a machinist and retired from Delta Systems and Automation Co. in Lowell, although he continued to work part time. Bobby loved spending time with his friends and family, mushroom hunting, brewing moonshine, boat rides on Table Rock Lake, the Razorbacks, Dodgers and Raiders, fishing, listening to music and sitting around the fire with his family and friends. He was loved by all and will be missed every day. Visitation will be 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Carol Sue Houston, age 82, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away at 2:31 p. m. on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at her home. She was born September 20, 1940, in Greenfield, Missouri, the daughter of Wilford and Aileen (Vincent) Willis. Carol was a 1958 graduate of Lockwood High School in Lockwood, Missouri. She graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in 1961 as a Registered Nurse. Carol was the Director of Nursing at the Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, for 20 years. She drove a truck with her husband Ed from 1995 until 2001 and retired from the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon in 2008. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Cassville, Missouri. On July 14, 1961, she married Ed Houston, in Lockwood, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2021. Carol is survived by one daughter, Carla Gold of Marionville, Missouri; one son, Tom Houston and his wife, Abby, of Marshfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Amy Ford and her husband, Andy, of Republic, Missouri, Allie Houston of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Addison, and Afton Houston of Marshfield, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Paisley, Silas, and Hudson Ford; two sisters, Nancy (Leon) Daniel of Stockton, Missouri, and Patty (Mike) Bishop of Willard, Missouri; sister-in-law, Peggy Willis of Carl Junction, Missouri; niece, Charlie Duston and her children, Shiloh and Raleigh of Branson, Missouri and several other nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff, and Aileen; one son, James Houston; son-in-law, David Gold; two sisters, Jane (Tom) Duston and Martha (Bob) Kinnick; one brother, Jack Willis; nephew, William Duston and two nieces, Leslie, and Mary Beth Duston. Robert "Bob" Ricketts, 78, of Shell Knob, passed away Tuesday June 20, 2023. He was born October 14, 1944 to parents Maurice and Wilma Ricketts from Fairbury, Illinois. Bob was a country boy who didn't know how to stop working. In September 2022 he was honored by the Operators Union Local 150 for 50 years of dedicated service. He could build a car from the ground up and spent many weekends at the dirt track races with his son and grandson. He was a kind man who would do anything to help, whether it be family, friend, or a stranger. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved fur babies. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gail of 31 years; siblings Wayne (Donna) Ricketts, Marlene (Gene) Colclasure, Barbara Allen; children, Stephanie Babbs, Troy (Laurie) Ricketts, Ryan Ricketts, Trent Ricketts, Heath (Teresa) Forney, Sr. , Heidi Forney and Christina Forney; Grandchildren, Krystal Yunker, Ashley Forney, Heath Forney, Jr. , Kayla (Damian) Reed, Jeremy Babbs, Wesley Ricketts, Charles Babbs, Heather (Chris) Crosthwait and Kyle Forney; 6 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews & many friends. Lorretta Ruth Cartwright of Shell Knob, Missouri was born August 2, 1926, in Granby, Missouri to Charles and Stella (McGahan) Gibson. Lorretta passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023, in Berryville, Arkansas at the age of 96. Lorretta graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Kansas City, MO in 1947. She worked at McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage, MO after her graduation. She then became an occupational therapist at St. John's Hospital in Joplin, MO. She and her husband formed Cart's Ceramics in 1973 where she worked until her retirement in 1995. At that time she relocated to Table Rock Lake. An avid fan of the Lady Bears basketball team, Lorretta also loved to fish and was active in water aerobics. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Shell Knob and a member of the LWML. Lorretta is survived by her son Peter Cartwright (Clara) of Shell Knob, Missouri, daughters Ann Cartwright (Pat Harfst) of Phoenix, Arizona and Virginia DePetro (Matt) of Denver, Colorado, four grandchildren: Nick DePetro (Laura), Sam DePetro, Aaron Cartwright (Deb), and Sam Cartwright, four great grandchildren: Sara Cartwright, Abbey Cartwright, Josiah Cartwright, and Samantha DePetro, as well as other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband William Cartwright, parents Charles and Stella Gibson, great grandson Hunter Cartwright, two brothers Elton Gibson and Bob Gibson, and daughter-in-law Nancy Cartwright. Jerry Donaldson, age 82, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away May 25, 2023, at his home. Mr. Donaldson, son of Delmer and Velma (Arnold) Donaldson, was born on November 25, 1940, in Carr Lane, Missouri. He was a 1958 graduate of Berryville, Arkansas, and went on to attend the University of Central Arkansas. Jerry was a U. S. Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. On December 26, 1969, he was united in marriage to Wanda Villines, in Compton, Arkansas; she survives. Jerry was an insurance agent, and in his later years he sold advertisements for The Rattler newspaper, in Shell Knob. He was a member of the Shell Knob Masonic Lodge and the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine in Springfield. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge, and a life member of the V. F. W. Post 2203, both in Shell Knob. Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Robertson, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; two grandsons, Billy "Joe Buck" Robertson and his wife Lauren, Aaron Robertson and his wife Robin, all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gary Donaldson and his wife Diann, of Shawnee Mission, Missouri. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 2:00 p. m. at Lohmer Church in Shell Knob, with Pastor David Donaldson officiating. Military services will be performed by the U. S. Navy. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital in care of the funeral home.
