Dr. Antonio Davalos

Dr Antonio Davalos passed away on February 24, 2024. He was born in Juarez chihuahua on February 29, 1944. He attended medical school at the University of Medicine in Chihuahua, Mexico and did his internship at ThomasonHospital in El Paso, before going on to complete his residency in general surgery at the University Hospital of the Puerto Rico Medical Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Dr. Davalos began working in Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso TX in 1980. He was a brilliant general surgeon and was also a pillar ofthe Del Sol Medical Staff having held Chief of Staff; Chief of Surgery; Vice Chief of Surgery; and theChair for the hospital's Credentials Committee. Dr. Davalos always took anactive role in helping determine the direction the hospital. He was named Dr of the year in 2009.Dr Davalos was a kind and compassionate man and physician. But he was mostly known for telling people what they needed to hear not what they wanted to hear. His brutal honesty and candor was one of his most endearing qualities to friends and family.His generous spirit, keen insight and quick wit will forever be missed but we are grateful for the lessons learned, the laughs shared, and the memories created together.Dr Davalos is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Rosalba. His children, Dr Mauricio Davalos, Carla (Dan) Nelson and Tony (Joanna) Davalos. He was loved by his grandchildren, Isabela, Diego and Nicolas Davalos, Sophia, Daniel and Mateo Nelson, Pablo and Vivienne Davalos and David Narvaez.The family would like to give special thanks to Dr Alfonso Chavez for his many years of friendship and for his compassionate care and service.Dr Davalos lived a great life and will be missed dearly on this side of heaven.The Funeral Mass to honor Dr. Antonio Davalos will be held on Thursday, February 29th at 11 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, located at 1551 Belvidere St.The services have been entrusted to Perches-West Funeral Home.For more information, please contact them at 915-581-0102

James Richard Hiles Sr., age 75, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, in El Paso, Texas. He was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico on March 21, 1948, to Jim and Margaret Hiles. Bent, New Mexico was home, though he spent many of his days in Mescalero, New Mexico where he would meet his future wife and best friend, Melinda. James and Melinda Hiles married on October 25, 1967, in El Paso, Texas. They would go on to become proud parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. James was employed by the Mescalero Apache Tribe for many years, where he put his countless skills to use throughout his positions. From Tribal Maintenance to the Housing Department, and the Cattle Grower’s Association. He eventually went on to become the Foreman of the Mescalero Roads Department, hanging up his hat for retirement after 47 total years of service with the tribe. James is survived by his children, Tarena Hiles (Kerry Enjady), Patrick Hiles (Sonya Hiles), and Jodi Hiles-Cojo (Jody Cojo); brothers, Michael Hiles and family, along with Elbert Hiles and family; 19 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; and his four-legged companion named “Chapo”. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melinda Hiles; parents, Jim and Margaret Hiles; daughter, Eugenia Mendez; son, James Hiles Jr.; brothers, Eric (Rick) Hiles, and Mark Hiles. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Mission Catholic Church in Mescalero, New Mexico. Viewing will begin at 9:00 AM, Rosary at 9:30 AM, and Mass at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at the Hiles Family Cemetery in Bent, New Mexico. We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our father, and brother Jose Angel Schaffino Jr. on February 7, 2024. Born October 26, 1949, he was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Jefferson High School, was a football player and track runner. He also loved to sing, dance, listen to Classic Rock and enjoyed working on his 56 Chevy pickup truck. He was a successful, charitable HVAC and Welding Business Owner. He is preceded by his parents Jose A. Schaffino Sr., Maria Schaffino and son John C. Schaffino. He is survived by his brother and sister. Jose is survived by Rose Mary Schaffino his loving wife of 54 years. His only daughter Evett and (Angel) Magdaleno, his son Rick and (Maria) Schaffino, Phillip and (Lety) Schaffino, his six grandchildren Dominique, Derek, Richard, Charlie, Samantha, John and two great grandchildren Aubrey and D’Angelo. “Tears are prayers too. Cecilia Martinez Alvarado, "Cecy," was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at the age of 57. She was born in El Paso, Texas and a 1985 graduate of Riverside High School. Cecy was also a proud member and the front line leader of the Riverside High School Rangerettes. After graduating from Riverside High school, she continued her education at El Paso Community College, which strengthened and enhanced her knowledge and skills in the Secretarial Business Office area. Her extraordinary skills, talent and wisdom, which manifested throughout her life, became a huge asset to her career. She was an exceptional, proficient, intelligent, confident individual. Despite her trials, tribulations and challenges, she remained strong in her faith to God. Her daughters remember their mom as an extraordinary person of resilience and compassionate character. Thank you mom for the love and sacrifices you endured to make our lives better. Cecy is preceded in death by her dad, Jose Martinez.
