Sister Ferro

Sister Ferro

Age - 86

December 1, 2023

Eleanor Marie Tilley Ferro was born in Porterville, California, on December 23, 1936. She was the second of six children born to Everett and Lova Stamper. Eleanor went to her heavenly reward on November 24, 2023. Eleanor graduated from Porterville High School in 1954. In 1967, she and her husband, Lonnie Tilley, and their five children packed up and moved to Texas. In 1970, she began her long-standing career with Texas Instruments, from which she retired twenty-six years later. That would also be the same year that Eleanor began her life-long commitment as a child of God, and became famously known as "Sister Tilley. " Eleanor was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a hard worker, but her first love was for God and His house. She enjoyed anything that had to do with her family or helping the church. In her early years, at what is now known as "The Lighthouse Church," you could find her helping in the annual rummage sales, making peanut brittle, walking in a walk-a-thon to help raise money for missionaries, or studying/decorating in preparation for her Sunday School class. In her later years, you could still find her reading at Bible Revival, helping with food at Vacation Bible School, or other community outreach events. For a couple of years, on every Monday you could find her helping at the local food pantry. She also dearly loved her "Prayer & Share" group on Thursdays. If there wasn't anything happening at the church, you could count on her being with her beloved family. Eleanor took many trips with her girls, visited her sons, and if her vacation time permitted--she spent a couple of weeks every summer in California with her only sister, Barbara, and other relatives. Eleanor is preceded in death by both of her parents; her first husband, Lonnie Tilley; her second husband, Sam Ferro Jr. ; her four brothers--Charles, Richard, Everett, and Wayne Stamper; her three sons--Rodney, Randy, and Richard Tilley; and her granddaughter, Latasha Tilley. She is survived by her daughters, Denise Hile (Joe) of Deer Park, and Marilyn Crosson (Leonard) of Sweeny; and her daughter-in-law, Karen Tilley of Baytown. Surviving grandchildren include Christina Matthews (Freddie) of Brazoria; Robert DeWitt (Kassey) of Fairfield; Nicholas (Carmen) of Baytown; Melissa Ihle (Danny) of Baytown; Amberly Brown of Arkansas; Randy Tilley (Shelly) of Arkansas; Tiffany Hubbard (Justin) of Arkansas; Stephanie Marr (Lance) of Arkansas; Rachel Carr of Missouri; 22 great-grandchildren including Wyatt Crawford, and Kendra Carr; and one great-great grandchild, Aleigha, and her adopted "little helper," Serenity Ford. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Stamper. Pallbearers are her great-grandsons: Jarett DeWitt, Jake Carr, Carson DeWitt, as well as church family members David Bass, Greg Fillip, and Noah Ford. Honorary pallbearers are great-grandsons Kyler Tilley and Keaton Ihle. The graveside service will follow at Columbia Cemetery, 211 East Jackson Street in West Columbia. Johnny Salinas

Johnny Salinas

Age - 79

November 30, 2023

Johnny Salinas sadly passed away from COPD in West Columbia, Texas on November 25, 2023 surrounded by his wife, his children and other Family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rosendo Salinas and Amalia Garcia Salinas, sisters, Josie Garcia, Guadalupe Gutierrez, Mary Ann Gomez, brother, Pete Salinas, brother-in-law, Rosendo Garcia, sister-in-law, Sandy Salinas, nephew, Daniel Salinas and niece, Yvonne Lara. Those left to cherish Johnny's memory is his loving wife of 51 years, Janie Salinas, his son, Johnny Salinas, Jr. (Alicia), daughters, Jerri Lynn Rhodes (Richard), Melissa Mezger (TJ), Jennifer Servin (Noe) and Veronica Montemayor (Anthony). Siblings, Rosendo Salinas, Severa Lara, Joe Salinas, and Mike Salinas. Johnny had fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren with one more on the way. He also had sisters in-law, brothers in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Johnny Salinas was born in Danevang, Texas on August 29, 1944. Johnny, his parents and his siblings Rosendo and Josie moved to Freeport in 1945. He served in the Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1970. Johnny and his wife, Janie settled down in Richwood in 1975 to raise their family. He was a butcher by trade. He worked at several grocery stores and sometimes he would do meat processing or mow lawns on the side to provide for his family, especially during the Christmas Holidays. Even as his Family grew, he always wanted to be sure he gave something to everyone for Christmas. He LOVED Christmas and giving gifts made him happy. His hobbies included making homemade jerky, which EVERYONE LOVED. When he made a batch, everyone called him to place their order. Hot or Mild. Fortunately, one of his grandkids has the ''secret'' recipe. He also loved to go fishing or crabbing. It did not matter to him that the places he liked to go was overgrown with brush and you had to watch out for snakes or alligators. That was just a fun time for him. When he went crabbing, he always made a point to catch just enough crabs for his wife, his grown children and grandchildren. He would sometimes have to go crabbing a couple of times to be sure that all five of his children got their fair share. But the most important thing to Johnny was FAMILY. He loved his wife with all his heart and would pick special flowers just for her. He also LOVED that he had a big family. He loved when we all got together to celebrate birthdays, holidays or just because days. He was so proud of his Family. We are thankful that we were able to celebrate one more Thanksgiving together. Until we are together again, we will hold you in our hearts. Love you always Pallbearers: Isaac Pena, John Michael Salinas, Adrian Servin, Richard Allen Rhodes, John Christopher Salinas, Marcus Servin, Gavin Miller, Garrett Miller and Lucus Servin Services are as follows: Lakewood Funeral Chapel, Lake Jackson, Texas on December 1, 2023.
