Debra Kay Ramon, a cherished resident of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on November 28th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength. Born on September 7, 1973, to Anita Marie and Fritz Speckman of Lubbock, Charline grew up surrounded by the simple joys of life. Her passion for creating and crafting was a lifelong source of joy and fulfillment. She especially delighted in crafting keepsakes with her grandson Robert, memories he will hold near and dear to his heart. Charline's greatest joy was her family. She cherished her role as a daughter, a wife, mother, and grandmother, showering her loved ones with unwavering love and support. A passionate cook, Charline possessed a natural talent for transforming simple ingredients into savory masterpieces. Her meals were not just sustenance; they were expressions of her love. Charline's kindness and compassion were not limited to her family and friends. She was a true embodiment of compassion; her heart and home were always open to those seeking in need. Charline's legacy of love, creativity, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be cherished as a reminder of the transformative power of kindness, generosity, and an open heart. Dillon Guy Fergerson, 86, of Pampa, Texas, passed away on November 29, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas. Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, December 4, 2023, at Central Baptist Church with Pastor Norman Rushing, pastor, officiating. An entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Director and Crematory. Dillon will be available for viewing from 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Saturday and 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. He was born on February 4, 1937, in Gruver, Texas. Dillon was a follower of Christ, first and foremost. He served for over 50 years as a Deacon in his church. After retiring from Pantex, he spent many years as a volunteer chaplain at the prison in Pampa, where he taught the book of John. Dillon was a loving husband and father. He was blessed with two great loves in his life, his first wife Joy Juanice Fergerson, and later in life, after Juanice’s passing, he married Cora Fergerson, both of whom were amazing women. He was a strong, dependable, hardworking man. Dillon attended Vega High School and went on to have a successful career. He worked for the Texas Highway Department, owned the Shamrock full-service station in Pampa, and later retired from Pantex. Dillon worshipped at Barrett Baptist Church and then later found his final church home at Central Baptist Church. He found solace and community in his places of worship. In his free time, Dillon enjoyed watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He also had a passion for collecting antique radios, records, and phonographs. Dillon took great joy in keeping up with his grandchildren and their activities. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Fergerson, his mother, Loretta Shirley, his wives, Juanice Fergerson and Cora Fergerson, and his brothers, David Fergerson and Tommy Dean Fergerson. Dillon is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Tracy Fergerson, as well as his brother Jim and Jim’s wife Sheri and brother Donald Fergerson. He is also survived by his grandsons, Jaden Fergerson, Kaden Mace, and Kolton Mace, and his granddaughters, Jacy Mace, Maelee Fergerson, and Landri Fergerson. Wilma Richards Key, lovingly known as Wemu, entered into eternal rest on November 28, 2023 at the age of 78. A native of Lubbock, TX; she was born to John and Annie May (Tyler) Richards on May 1, 1945. Wemu was a loving and devoted wife to Mickey. She loved and adored all her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She not only enjoyed being in the presence of her loving family, but she liked playing games such as: SkipBo, Uno, and 42, to name a few; and watching westerns. She was a clothing expert for Mahon Cleaners and Texas Tech Housekeeping for many years, but her true joy and passion was being with her family and making memories with them. She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Billy, Bud, Clifford, Ronnie, and Laverne. Delbert David Dalton was born on September 16, 1931. On, November 26, 2023, at 92 years old he ascended to Heaven to be with the Lord and family in Heaven. David, as known by all of his friends and family, was born in Running Water, Texas, and lived in Halfway, TX, until he was 7 years old. His family then moved to Ropesville, TX where he was active in sports while in the Ropes School District. David received a basketball scholarship to Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, TX. During the draft of the Korean War, David enlisted in the Naval Branch. He served 4 years in the Navy and 2 years in the Reserves. After the service, he returned to Ropesville, TX, to farming. David was a member of the Baptist Church and gave his life to Jesus Christ when he was 7 years old. He was active in the Baptist Church as a church secretary. David was active as a coach in Little League Baseball, Little Dribblers (boys and girls), FFA and 4H showings, and a school board member. David fell in love with Adelle Yvonne "Von" Fuller when she was in 8th grade and David was a senior in high school. They married after David was out of the service. He was preceded in death by his parents: Omer William Dalton of Odessa, MO, and Nellie Patience Shropshire of Alvarado, TX; his only brother, Omer Lee Dalton; his wife, Adelle Yvonne "Von" Fuller. David is survived by his 2 children, Larry Dalton and wife Judy McKinley Dalton, and Sharon Kay Dalton; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Drue Dalton and Katherine Jill Morton and husband Chance; and 5 great-grandchildren. The service will be a graveside service at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 5740 19th St, Lubbock, TX 79407. The date and time are to be determined and we will update the obituary notice. Vernon Ardine Peterson Jr, 77, of Lubbock died on November 29th, 2023. He was born May 29th, 1946 to Vernon Ardine Sr and Wanda Jean (Patton) Peterson in Lovington, New Mexico. He grew up the eldest son of a Master Sergeant in the US Army, so he traveled the world from an early age. The family settled in Lubbock where he graduated from Lubbock High School and immediately began working towards his passion as a mechanic. He retired from Fenner Tubbs Chrysler after over 40 years of service. He loved everything with an engine; cars, motorcycles, boats and planes and while it was his job, it was also his favorite hobby. He had a penchant for learning all sorts of random facts. He loved history and had a unique sense of humor and will be remembered by many friends as the man with several memorable one liners. He met and married the love of his life, Jackie (Penny) Peterson in August of 1969. They traveled and adventured and raced cars until they began to grow their family. He was preceded in death by his father Vernon Sr, his mother, Jean and his brother, Wayne. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jackie, his eldest daughter, Brenda and grandchildren, Taylor and Chance and his youngest daughter, Melissa and husband, Trevor and grandchildren, Colter and Natalie. Jimmy Dan Winn, age 71, of Lubbock, Texas, died Thursday, November 2, 2023 in Lubbock. He was born May 30, 1952 in Roswell, New Mexico to Jess and Laverne (Lewallen) Winn. Jimmy grew up in Crosbyton, Texas where he was a standout basketball and football player. He loved Texas Tech athletics and was an avid supporter of all Red Raider sports. He had a passion for life and loved making people laugh, which allowed him to excel in a successful career in sales. He was always able to make people smile with an encouraging word or a funny joke. In his final days, his smile persisted and lit up the room. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Jess. Jimmy is survived by his son, Justin Winn and his fiance, Nicole Varner of Washington, D. "Karen Schulze, 64, of Lubbock, Texas passed away on November 23, 2023. Karen was born August 9, 1959 in Bakersfield, CA to Erwin and Ramona Schulze. Her family moved to Lubbock in 1964. Karen graduated from Lubbock High School in 1977; attended Concordia Lutheran College in Austin and graduated from the University of Texas-Austin with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1986. Karen was one of only five women in her graduating class of sixty-nine students. Karen worked in the semiconductor industry for many years with Hewlett Packard, MCC and Motorola in Portland Oregon and Austin, TX; she later worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Austin. She returned to Lubbock in 2016 to be with her family. Loved ones include brother, Dennis Schulze and wife, Nancy; sister, Kathryn Rogers; sister, Janice Honerkamp and husband, Russell; nieces, Brittany Rogers and Ellie Rogers; nephews, Rowdy Rogers and Tyler Kubisz and many aunts, uncles and cousins. "Evelyn Joy King Smiley passed away peacefully at home on November 24, 2023 from complications of metastatic colon cancer. She was born in Ralls, TX on November 30, 1932, the 3rd daughter of John Coleman (Ted) King and Emma Daniel King. The family moved to Levelland, TX early in 1936, and Evelyn subsequently graduated valedictorian of Levelland High School in May 1950. She did pre-med studies at Texas Tech College and the University of Houston before entering medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, TX. After graduating in 1957, she completed a rotating internship at the George Washington University in Washington, DC and moved to San Francisco, CA in 1958. She worked in Oakland, CA as a General Practitioner in the very early days of the Kaiser-Permanente Hospital. In 1962, her family moved to Lamesa, TX where she practiced as General Practitioner at the Medical Arts Clinic and Medical Arts Hospital from 1962 to 1990. During this time, she delivered over 5000 babies and answered tens of thousands of after hours calls. Following her private practice years, Dr. Evelyn worked with the South Plains Rural Health Clinic in Lamesa until May of 2007 when she took a leave of absence for family illness. When she retired at age 75, she had practiced medicine for over 50 years. She was a career-long member of the American Medical Association, a delegate to the Texas Medical Association, and a member of the American Academy of Family Practice. She served as the Medical Director of the public health department for five counties for many years and mentored numerous medical preceptors through the AAFP to support development of future members of the medical community. Evelyn married David Neil Smiley on January 30, 1953 in Houston, TX. David was also a physician, and they had 5 children together: Dr. Samuel Neil Smiley (Roberta) of Houston, TX; Susan Emma Smiley, chemical engineer-retired of Austin, TX; Dr. Sarah Imogene Smiley (Andrew Donnelly) of Austin, TX; Stephen Ted Smiley (Stacey), civil engineer of Cedar Park, TX; and Sandra Rebecca Smiley, deceased in childhood. Dr. Evelyn and Dr. David lived in Mill Valley, CA while he worked in the US Public Health Service at the Presidio, and both of them loved the natural beauty of the San Francisco Bay area and the temperate climate. She was delighted to find she had no allergies for the years they lived there. Both of them thought these years were the happiest of their married life with limited call schedules and 9-to-5 working hours, giving them more time with children and to explore the West Coast. They left California to return home to West Texas so their children would be able to grow up around their extended families. After struggling with dementia, Dr. David passed away in 2009. Dr. Evelyn sold her home in Lamesa in 2014 and moved to Austin to be near her children and grandchildren. She was a life-long, faithful member of the Church of Christ and a regular contributor to African Christian Hospitals and other Christian charities. She is survived by 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as well as 3 sisters (Nancy Carr of Levelland, Ruth Bird Byrne of Levelland, and Kay Houston (Richard) of Morton), 1 brother (Benn Stanley King of Beulah, CO), and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, youngest daughter, and older sister, Mary Nell Baggett Denny. A visitation will be held in Levelland, TX, on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 6-8 pm at Krestridge Funeral Home followed by a graveside service with Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock, TX on December 2, 2023.
