DILLON Ms. Bessie Irene Grimsley, 84, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at Pruitt Health in Dillon, SC, after an extended illness. Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 23, at 3:00 P.M. at Dillon Second Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. Friday, prior to the service at the church. Born in Dillon, S.C., November 27, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Roy Carter and Louise Ammons Carter. Survivors include her grandchildren, Tommy Grimsley, Melinda Grimsley, and Michelle Grimsley and her great grandchildren, Harlee Lange, Hayden Lange, and Mason Repp of Michigan; her aunts, Frances Bailey and Annie Mae McDaniel and sisters-in-law, Barbara Carter and Margaret Carter of Dillon, S.C.; and many nieces and newphews. Mrs. Grimsley was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Eddie Grimsley, Johnny Grimsley, and Michael Grimsley; brothers, Roy Lamar Carter, William (Bill) Carter, Jimmy Carter, and Bobby Carter; and sisters, Virginia Kernodle, Rachel Owens, and Christine Huggins. Irene was a hard worker, starting with farming in her early years, later at Dillon Manufacturing, and then retiring from Craftex and becoming a caregiver for many before her illness. She loved her family and friends dearly and attending church at Dillon Second Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Pruitt Health-Dillon and Pruitt Health-Hospice for the care given to Ms. Bessie Irene while she was there.

Miller of Dillon; son, Wade F. Miller, Jr. (Caroline) of Baxley, GA; daughter, Christina Segars (Carlton) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Alan Miller (Andria) of Aiken, SC, Sarah Hoosier (Halsey) of Wallace, NC, Clayton Segars, and Claire Segars, both of Columbia, SC; 2 great-grandchildren, Rhys Miller of Aiken, SC, and Caroline Hoosier of Wallace, NC. Zackary “Zack” Lee Willis, a hardworking laborer and self-taught mechanic, passed away on February 10, 2024, at the age of 24. Born on September 9, 1999, in Galion, Ohio, he was a beloved son, brother, and friend. Zack's determination and love for the outdoors were evident in his passion for fishing. Whether it was casting a line in the early morning or spending long afternoons by the lake, he found solace and joy in the serenity of the water. His enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, and he often shared his knowledge and techniques with others. Many will remember him for his skillful fishing, as they carry on his legacy with rod in hand. Beyond his love for fishing, Zack possessed an innate talent for repairing vehicles and machinery. Through his self-taught mechanical skills, he had the uncanny ability to fix just about anything. Friends and family would often seek his assistance, knowing that he could solve any technical problem that came his way. Zack's resourcefulness and dedication illustrated his commitment to helping others and making their lives easier. However, it was Zack's unwavering devotion to his family that truly defined him. He cherished the bond he shared with his younger brother, Zander Hooper, and took on the role of protector and role model with pride. Zack's nurturing nature extended beyond his immediate family, as he looked out for his friends as well. His caring spirit illuminated every gathering and brought people together, creating memories filled with laughter and love. Zack will forever be remembered as a vibrant soul who embraced life and its challenges with a positive mindset. His passing leaves behind his grieving mother, Glori Johnson, father, Edward Willis, and Grandfather Phillip Breece, all of whom will cherish the cherished memories they shared with him. Also surviving are Zack’s closest friends Taylor Warren, and Michael Heatherington, along with his second mom Tara Warren. Zack was taken from this world too soon, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he find eternal peace and continue to inspire us all to cherish our loved ones and embrace the beauty of life. Zack is preceded in death by his grandmother Lola Breece and his stepfather Darrell Johnson. Friends may call on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home; 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Graveside service will take place at Iberia Cemetery at 1:30pm. Journey Layne Marberry, 2 years old, went to heaven on Saturday, January 27, 2024 after helping other families by donation. She will now have days of playing outside way past bedtime, being goofy, laughing and non-stop giggling.Journey was born on May 14, 2021 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She joined her brother, River and sisters, Zoie and Mariah, who adored her!She was as sassy as any 2-year-old can be (pretty sure she thought she was a grown up somedays). She loved unconditionally, sharing her big heart with anyone who could make her laugh or smile, and was loved back just as much by all who knew her. Journey loved playing with make-up, Baby Shark, Coco Melon, and most of all, she loved her family.Those left to cherish Journey’s memory are her mother, Kaytee Gregson; her father, Kenny Marberry; her siblings, River Palmer, Zoie Marberry and Mariah Marberry; her grandmother, Renee White; her grandparents, Tara and Roger Gregson; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.Journey was preceded in death by her grandparents, David “Bulldog” White, Jack Fields, Rosemary White, Fred Garrison and Ethel Garrison.Per wishes, Journey has been cremated.
