Jack W. SellsDecember 19, 1937 – February 23, 2024At the age of 86, he left all the pain and sorrows of this earth and entered into eternal peace and joy with his Lord and Savior to reunite with his loving wife of 43 years, Margie; father and mother, Wayne and Helyn Monk Sells; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Irene Sells; sisters, Jerlene Perkins and Betty Pugh.Jack served his country in the U.S. Army. While employed at Virginia House Furniture, he encountered an injury and during the healing period he decided to work outdoors. He dedicated 40 years to farming, raising his family working with beef and dairy cattle. Jack instilled into his children a hard work ethic while teaching them more about agriculture than they could have learned in a classroom. Gardening was a way of providing food, raising hogs and hunting wildlife was a means of obtaining meat. He enjoyed the compliments from his jealous friends and neighbors of a beautiful garden producing the largest potatoes and delicious tomatoes in the county. Jack and his wife, Margie enjoyed harvesting and canning the vegetables as displayed on the shelves in their Can Room.Left to cherish his memories and to look forward to joining him one day in Heaven; a daughter and son-in-law Jackie and Tom Myers of Chilhowie, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Jimbo and Bonnie Sells of Sparta, NC; son, Jerry Sells of Troutdale, VA; grandchildren, Joseph “Peabody” Holdaway, Bo Sells, Jared Sells and wife, Jenni, Brandy Burke and husband, Dakota; great grandchildren, Colton and Emmie Sells; sister, Carlene Absher; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and “Bus” Wood,; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Teresa Sells; several nieces, nephews, neighbors, drag racing friends, coon hunters and bear hunting buddies also survive. In keeping with his wishes there will be no services.Memorial donations in Jack’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
