Buford, GA

Jessica, the only daughter of Travis and Julie Walker, was born on August 28, 1993, in Atlanta, Georgia. She grew up in Marietta, and most recently resided in her own home in Lawrenceville. Jessica idolized her older brother Terry at a young age and loved going to his baseball games. She was so excited when she was finally old enough to play softball herself, and played until middle school. She then shifted her interest and focus to golf, and she competed at a high level throughout high school. Jessica began high school in East Cobb County and attended Pope High School, and finished at Lambert High School in Suwanee where she was part of the inaugural graduating class. She went on to graduate from Georgia Gwinnett College where she found her professional passion in IT and CyberSecurity. She began her career as a student assistant in the college's IT department, and was hired on full time as soon as she graduated. Jessica is survived by her parents Travis and Julie; her brother Terry Walker, sister-in-law Amanda Walker, and her niece and nephew Beau and Jemma; and her grandparents Anne Rushworth and Peter Rushworth. She would be mad at us if we didn't also include her dogs Cagney and Magnum and her cat Lucy here; she loved her animals so much and they were a daily lifeline and support system for her. Jessica had a huge heart, loved deeply, and cared so much for all she met. Below are the words of her best friend Abby that are the best we can imagine to describe who she was. "A more loyal and hard-loving friend could not be found. Over the past few years, I witnessed Jessica take mental health head-on. She was determined to forge a path of healing. She was learning how to stand up for herself, and I was simply taken with her hard-won confidence. Jessica had a keenly developed sense of what was right, and a passion for the truth. She was principled in ways I could only dream of achieving. Julie and Travis - you raised a smart, righteous woman, with a heart of gold. I know she made you so proud with her loving and generous nature. "To celebrate Jessica's remarkable life, funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 12:00 pm in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory. Prior to the service, visitation will be held starting at 11:00am, all are welcomed. In honoring Jessica's wishes, we kindly request attendees to dress comfortably, coming as they are, to celebrate her life and remember her vibrant spirit. Her family invites everyone to share their cherished memories and stories as they gather to pay their final respects and express their condolences.
