Pennington Gap, VA Jessica Lynn Posey Hester, 48, of Pennington Gap, VA, was born on Tuesday, November 5, 1974 in Harlan, KY. She passed away peacefully in her home on Big Hill the morning of September 8, 2023. Jessica is preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry "Shadetree" and Sina Posey, and Chester "Shorty" Foster, and several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her loving husband, David Lynn Hester of the home; son, Jamie Hester; grandchildren, Jasper, Rowan, and Emrys Hester; daughter, Alyssia Hester; parents, Billy Sr. and Wanda Posey; brother, Billy, Jr Posey and wife Carolyn; sister, Ashley Laney; her beloved brother and sister-in-laws; mother and father-in-law, Dr. Clyde and Freda Hester; special nieces, Jade and Haleigh; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a very best friend Christine Wells. Jessica spent her adult life as a devoted mother, wife, and auntie. She loved her family and friends passionately. She was an amazing artist and enjoyed simple things with big meanings and could see art everywhere. She was unapologetic and uniquely herself. Family and friends will have a celebration of life at the Big Hill Community Church, Big Hill Community of Pennington Gap, VA, on Monday, September 18, 2023 starting at 11:00 a. m. Donald Ray Belcher, age 67, of Pennington Gap, Virginia, passed away Saturday evening (November 25, 2023) at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. A native of Lee County, VA, he was born March 14, 1956 a son of the late Herbert Belcher and Ellen Isom Belcher Lemar (Sammy). He was a member of St. Charles Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Pennington High School and received a Bachelors Degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. He was a teacher at St Charles Elementary School for 2 years and was a coal miner with over 25 years of service at Powell Mountain Coal Company. His greatest passion was working with the youth as a longtime little league football and basketball coach, with nearly 30 years of service at Jonesville. Preceded in death by his parents and also a brother: Roger Belcher. He is survived by a brother: Randy Belcher and Joyce Deaton and a sister: Rosharon Blevins and 2 sisters in law: Sharon Belcher and Sheila Belcher along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members along with a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday evening at 7 PM in the chapel of the Pennington Gap Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Davis, Jr officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 preceding the service. Committal services will be Thursday morning at 11AM at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway. It is requested that family and friends meet at the funeral home at 10:20 to go in procession to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be all his former football and basketball players. She was born in Harlan, KY and was the daughter of the late Clairsie Wynn Jackson. She worked as a Dispatcher at Lee County Sheriff Office for many years and also worked as a beautician. She devoted most of her life to her beloved son, Royce Williams. She was a loving mother, sister,friend and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Gerald Thomas and Clairsie Jackson she was preceded in death by her 2 sons; Robert Williams III and Royce Williams, her brother; Harlis Thomas and nephew; Seth Thomas. She is survived by her son, Robert Williams IV and wife Sherry Williams, Grandchildren; Makalla Taylor and fiance Dillon Tignor, Dakota Taylor, Gabriella Williams, Dylan Stapleton, Miley Stapleton, Great-grandchild; Grayson Tignor "Little Willie". Pennington Gap, VA- James R. Evans (The Happy One) James Richard Evans, affectionately known as Jimmy, died on November 17, 2023, in Pennington Gap, Virginia, after a short-term illness. Born on December 14, 1975, in Norton, Virginia, Jimmy was 47 years old at the time of his passing. Jimmy was a graduate of Lee High School, class of 1994. He furthered his education at Mountain Empire Community College, where he studied Environmental Services. A man of the Baptist faith, He loved life, loved people, never met a stranger, and always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed playing music. Jimmy was the son of the late Randall and Angelia Diana Evans. He was also the grandson of the late Cecil and Maxie Napier Evans, and Rucker and Margaret Wells. Jimmy is survived by his very special aunt Lila G. Minton his brother, Lonnie Michael Evans and his wife, Tatum, of Pennington Gap. He was an uncle to his nephew, Jessee M. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine Myers and Hubert Blevins, her husband, David H. Brewer Sr. and one son, David H. She was raised In Lee County and graduated from Lee High class of 1993. She loved the outdoors, and hunting ginseng in the mountains. She will be deeply missed by her family, and all those that knew her. She was born and raised in Dryden, VA. , as a young girl she enjoyed playing ball with her family. She was married to her late husband James Edward Lawson. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, her brother Manley Dearry and brother-in-law Roy Lee Cain. Left to cherish her memory, sister Dona Cain, brothers, George Dearry, & Sam Dearry, niece, Polly Jones and husband Chris, other close relatives, and friends. "Anna Mae Goodwin Neff, 92, from Jonesville, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at her residence in Lee Health \u0026amp; Rehab Center, Pennington Gap, Virginia. Anna was born on March 21, 1931, in Staunton, Kentucky, and she lived in Jonesville, Virginia, for most of her life. She is a retired store clerk and manager who worked at the Country Scene, Rogers 5 \u0026amp; 10, and Jonesville Drug Store. In her spare time, Anna was a master quilter who created numerous quilts for family and loved ones that are now family heirlooms and will be treasured for years to come. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Jonesville. Anna loved to tell stories to family and friends, and she was always full of life and love for those around her, right up until the end. Anna was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished raising her children and spending time with loved ones. She was known as "Mammaw" to her closest family. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ransom Neff; parents, Will and Elizabeth King Goodwin; sisters, Loretta Frye, Naomi Goodwin, Eunice Hahn, and Venice Martin; brothers: Johnny and Virgil Goodwin. She is mourned by children, Linda (Eddie) Woodward and Mike (Kellie) Neff; grandchildren, Frank and Stephen (Katy) Woodward; and great-grandchildren, Elliott and Graham Woodward; as well as numerous other family and friends.
