Funeral Mass for Theresa (nee Logar) Clarke, 86, of Mentor, will be 12 noon Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. (*Please meet at church.) Theresa passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland. She was born Nov. 26, 1937. She was a former member of St. William Parish in Euclid, and a member of St. Mary of the Assumption in Mentor. Her passion was her family and she loved them all dearly. Theresa had worked at Parker-Hannifin in Cleveland and Mayfield Heights after she had raised her children. Theresa was the loving mother of Mary (John) Ostberg, Tess Clarke (Bill Brock), Ann (Dan) King, Brian (Debbie) Clarke, Peggy Clarke, John P. Clarke, and Jeanne Clarke (Todd Clarke); cherished grandmother of Nicholas Ostberg, Lauren Ostberg, Dan Ostberg, Brendan King, Sean King, Megan Freshly, Matt Clarke, Monica Mulpur, Morgan Clarke, Liam Clarke and Emmet Clarke; great-grandmother of Clarke, Emerson, Emory, Gabriella, Kolton and McKenna; dear sister of John (Margaret) Logar and Sr. Mary Joanne, O.C.D.; sister-in-law of Shirley Logar and Kathleen Kolar; and the aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John J. Clarke; son, Patrick Clarke; parents, Joseph and Kathryn (nee Touschner) Logar; stepmother, Emily Logar; siblings, Donald Logar, Mary Steigerwald and Catherine Logar; and sister-in-law, Anna Clarke. Francesca "Frances" Podolak (nee Franchino) passed away after living a fulfilling 100.5 years. Born to the late Charles and Mary Franchino from Italy, on August 24, 1923 in Cleveland, OH. Frances was the oldest of four children. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her daughter Denise, and her siblings Lil, Joe and Tom.After raising her siblings, she began working during the war at Bamburgers Textile Factory where she rose through the ranks to become a manager and even modeled sweaters for their catalogs.She met the love of her life, Edward Podolak and they were married on September 7, 1957 and had four beautiful daughters - Denise Leciejewski (deceased) (Bob), Debbie Caroscio (Tony), Diane Kaminski (Donnie) and Donna Podolak. She adored her daughters, and raising four teenagers in the 70’s, as a widower was no small feat. And yet she made a large family with all of her daughter’s friends, who affectionately referred to her as MP. She was a strong, caring woman who loved to speak her mind and have her family all together for Sunday dinners. Fran’s favorite hobbies include reading, watching over 50 years of General Hospital and enjoying a cold beer every now and then.She loved working as a caterer at Hillside Party Center until the age of 90. Frances also leaves behind seven grandchildren - Nicole (Ryan) Mann, Cortney (Gino) Conte, Matt (Kate) Lorince, Alison (Adam) Cletzer, Mikey Majewski, Emily (Brendan) Uhlir, and Gabrielle Caroscio. She has four great-grandchildren - Emmett, Cooper, Mariana, and Ophelia, with another on the way in June. The family has been lucky to have witnessed and been loved by such an amazing woman. She was loved by many and she will be greatly missed by all.Celebration of Life Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 10:00 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following at Calvary Cemetery. 90-year-old Holocaust Survivor Rose Nagler (née Mass), born December 18, 1933 in Lvov, Poland, passed away on March 2, 2024. Rose, the daughter of Adolph and Cyla Mass, was the loving mother of Abbie Nagler Sender and the adoring grandmother of Jon and Ted Sender. She was predeceased by her husband, Ben, and younger brother, Steve Czaczkes. Rose was also the older foster sister to Neil Brown and Charna Brown Kofsky (Marty) of Toronto, Canada, whose mother and father, Freda and Morris Brown, took Rose in to live with them for four years following her immigration In March 1949 from Föhenwald Displaced Persons camp to North America. A relationship that began as a last-minute benevolent gesture turned into a deeply loving relationship between the Brown family and Rose and her family, which continues to this day. Rose will be greatly missed and remembered for her joy of being a mother, grandmother, her feisty independence, quest for knowledge through reading about the world in the New York Times, knitting, and her inspirational cooking and baking. Funeral services will be held at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S Taylor Rd, Cleveland Hts, Ohio 44118 on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11 AM. She married her beloved husband Evarist in 1961and they had three daughters. Mihela worked for Euclid Hospital and Euclid High School. She loved to garden and bake and spend time with her family. She also loved polka music and Slovenian ballads. Her family will always remember her as hard working, fierce and industrious. She was hospitable, creative, loyal, kind, playful and tolerant. Mihela was a remarkable woman who always had a can-do attitude. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
