Lemuel Lucelo Majam, age 77, joined his creator on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. He was born in Carigara, Leyte, Philippines, April 3, 1946 to Crisanto and Isabel (Lucelo) Majam. Lemuel enjoyed the best of both worlds, with established ties in Fresno, California and re-established ties with friends and family in the Philippines near his most recent overseas hometown of Taytay, Rizal. In his younger days, Lemuel had varied interests, including but not limited to playing the guitar, chess, fixing cars, and martial arts. Lemuel taught karate to high school and college students as well as instructed the local police department in his province of Leyte on self-defense. For many years, Lemuel owned an automotive body shop in Quezon City, Philippines. He was also a long-term, hard-working employee at St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno, California, where he retired after 22 years of service. As a young man, Lemuel had a heart for charitable causes and in connection with this he provided second-hand eyeglasses to elderly folks in a remote island in the Philippines. Even in his later years, he continued to show compassion and generosity to folks typically taken for granted, celebrating his most recent birthday by distributing food to laborers he befriended in Taytay. He is fondly called by many who know him as "Tatay," meaning father. His full life reflected love, faith, courage, hard work, goodness, humbleness, and positivity. Lemuel was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle (second dad to many of his nephews and nieces), and friend. He is loved by many. Lemuel is survived by his wife Carmen Canamales Majam, his son Lemuel Canamales Majam Jr. , his daughter Eunice Majam-Simpson (son-in-law, Kenneth R. Simpson), and sister Rebecca Majam Belfry.
