She was a lover of all things sports. She loved to be at anything and everything her grandchildren were doing. She loved being a “Sue” more than anything. Elma Rose Williams was born on November 2nd, 1929 and passed away peacefully at Glen Haven Nursing Home on February 22nd, 2024 at the age of 94. She was born to Hattie and Baughn Ambrose Truelove and married John Beaufort Williams on July 29th, 1950. She is survived by one granddaughter, Brandi Pamplin Parker (Mark) and two grandsons, Joel B. and Gregory P. Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Williams, a daughter, Dorothy Williams Pamplin, a granddaughter, Kelly Jo Pamplin and a host of other relatives. Mrs. Williams was employed by Gulf States Paper Company, First Baptist Church Nursery and several families as their longstanding protective babysitter. A graveside service will be held at Williamson Cemetery in Northport at 10:30 on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Coker First United Methodist Church. Donald Roy Simpson

Donald Roy Simpson, age 80, of Northport, Alabama passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 surrounded by family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Donald was born on January 12, 1944, to George Reed and Florence Simpson. He grew up in the Samantha, Alabama Community on a farm. He attended Northside and graduated class of 1961. Following high school, Donald enlisted in the Alabama Army National Guard, where he became a sergeant. He met Helen Shelby at a Northside homecoming game, fell in love and married on March 12, 1966. He worked at BF Goodrich for 40 years before retiring. He retired from the Alabama Army National Guard after 40 years as well. Donald would tell you the achievement he was most proud of was his family. He loved being a husband, father, and grandfather. He was loving and devoted. He loved being able to provide and take care of his family. He did it so well not only financially but through his unconditional love, support and actions. He had a nurturing heart and intentional in letting his loved ones know how much he loved them. When he did not have our hand, he always had our backs. Donald always supported his children and grandchildren by being their number one fan. He showed up and always cheered them on no matter what hobby, program, or academic achievement was taking place. Accomplishments big or small always meant to be celebrated. Donald always was a calm presence in a room. He was not the loudest or most talkative but he was intentional, attentive, present and ready to always add humor to the conversation. He showed his love through acts of service for his family and always tried to find ways to make life better for others. He held onto Southern family tradition and passed those down, and was always prepared for anything and could calm a storm by massaging or scratching our backs. He loved flannel, chocolate almond ice-cream, peanuts and peanut butter mixed with Gold Eagle Syrup. Donald was preceded in death by his parents George Reed and Florence Poe Simpson, siblings Jerry Simpson and Geraldine Strickland (Justin). Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 58 years, Helen Shelby Simpson; his children Patrick Simpson, Angela Simpson and Holly Tanner (Robert); his grandchildren, Danielle Simpson, Lillie Barnett (Jake), Annie Simpson, Ivey Jane Tanner, Lucy Beth Tanner and grand-pup Lockie; his great-grandchildren, Landry Kate Barnett and Beau Barnett. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Linda Simpson and many nieces and nephew who love him and will miss him dearly. A visitation for Donald will be held Friday, March 1, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sunset Brown-Service Funeral Home, 3802 Watermelon Road, Northport, Alabama 35473 followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM. Burial will occur in Sunset Memorial Park following the service. Serving as pallbearers are Steve Simpson, Kevin Simpson, Troy Strickland, Jason Falls, Jeremy Swindle, Nick Shaw. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM Moulton Memory Gardens with Rev. Richard Cain officiating.Born on June 15, 1928 to the late Ottis and Edna Flannagin Smith, Nadine lived a long and full life. She was most recently a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and attended services at Capstone Village while living there. Nadine has been a member of Okolona Baptist Church in Hatton for most of her life and then at Town Creek First Baptist Church for several years. Her faith was central to her life and she spoke often about her relationship with Jesus. She loved to read the Bible and study scripture. Nadine worked as a bookkeeper at First Colbert National Bank in Sheffield which became Bank Independent during her time there. Nadine enjoyed her work there and spoke fondly of her co-workers. She loved cooking, and especially baking, for her friends and family. The joy of her life was her family.Survivors include her daughter, Nita Boyd (Steve) Lovelady, daughter-in-law, Dr. Lynn Sanford Boyd; grandchildren, Beau (April) Boyd, Brantley Boyd, Stephen (Laura Mammina) Lovelady, Ali Grace (Cody) Eiland, and Caleb Lovelady; great-grandchildren, Hayes Boyd, Bella Boyd, Brooke Boyd, Riley Barrett, Reese Barrett, Curtis Eiland, and Ruthie Eiland; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 40 years, Hayes Boyd; their son, Hal Boyd; her second husband of 17 years, Wesley Davis; sisters, Lorene Hurst, Evelyne Witt, Azine Green, and Wanda Givens.Pallbearers will be Beau Boyd, Stephen Lovelady, Caleb Lovelady, Hayes Boyd, Brad Green, Ricky Givens, Tim Smith, and Mike Piznar. In loving memory of Elmer and Janie Bagwell of Fosters, AL. A remarkable couple whose love transcended time. Elmer and Janie departed this world just 5 days apart, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion that will endure for generations to come. Elmer passed away peacefully on February 13th, 2024, at Glen Haven in Northport, AL. Janie shortly followed him, passing peacefully at their home in the early hours of February 18th, 2024. Elmer was Born January 11th, 1945. He Served 6 years in the US National guard under the 167th infantry. He went on to work for B.F. Goodrich until he retired. He was known as a quiet, kind man with a big heart who loved to fish; as well as a devoted, loving husband to Janie. Janie was born February 19th, 1948. She spent many years working for the University of Alabama but went on to work for Skyland Oaks retirement home until she retired. It was there she touched many lives and made many close friends that she kept throughout her life. She was known for her caring spirit, lively sense of humor, and dedication to those she loved. Married for over 50 years, anyone could tell you that these two were simply made for each other, oftentimes being referred to as “attached at the hip”. Their love was not only bound by earthly ties, but also by their shared faith. They found strength and solace together in their Christian beliefs, which helped to guide them through life’s joys and challenges. Janie and Elmer also shared a love for camping and the serene beauty of the lake. This love of the outdoors was not only a reflection of their appreciation for the wonders of creation, but also a testament to their belief in the presence of God in all things While they were never blessed with children of their own, Janie and Elmer’s devotion to their family was abundant, pouring their hearts into helping raise their nephews Alan and Doug, seeing them as their own sons. As Janie and Elmer reunite in eternal peace, their legacy of love, faith, and devotion continues to inspire all who came to know them. The impact on everyone who had the joy of calling them friends or family is truly evident. May their life and love story serve as a guiding light to those who follow them. They will be deeply missed, but forever remembered with love and gratitude. They are preceded in death by Elmers's mother and father, James and Georgia Bagwell, Janie’s mother and father, Calvin Hunter Jr. And Rosie Ethel Holcomb, as well as Elmer’s brothers James Donald Bagwell and Paul M. Bagwell. They are survived by their siblings, Floyd Bagwell (Vera), Sue Salvador (Tino), J.C. Hunter (Marilyn), John Hunter (Peggy), Danny Holcomb (Angela), Jerry Holcomb (Trina), and Tony Holcomb. Nephews, Alan Hinote (Christi), Doug Hinote (Joni), Jeremy Hunter, Jason Hunter (Rachael), Jason Pate (Candi), Adam Holcomb (Heather), Grayson Holcomb, and Slade Holcomb. Nieces, Danni Stoudemire, Andi Corbett, Brandi Hatfield (Joel), Lacy Bazinet (Chris), Jennifer Dunkling (Josh), Alanna Holcomb, Jessica Grissett (Mitch), and Britany Plowman, as well as Numerous great nieces, great nephews, and 2 great-great nieces. Pallbearers are Jason Hunter, Jeremy Hunter, Hunter Hinote, Ethan Elmore and Nate Weaver. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Pate, the staff at Glen Haven Rehabilitation, and the staff of Hospice of West Alabama. Frances was born in Fayette County, AL and grew up in the Circlewood community in Tuscaloosa. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and attended the University of Alabama. She was a faithful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. “Mimi” was widely known for her cooking skills, particularly her poundcakes, peanut brittle, fig preserves and potato salad. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her husband (of 62 years), her family and the Atlanta Braves. Nothing thrilled her more than to see her great grandchildren burst through the door, give her a hug and dig into the candy jar. She is preceded in death by her parents Vashti and William Cole Sr., her husband Oinest Sartain, brother William (Bub) Cole Jr. and great grandson Hunter Sartain Jr. She is survived by her son Ted Sartain (Kim), daughter Donna Hoffman (Wayne); grandchildren Hunter Sartain, (Andrea), Clay Sartain (Jesse), Laura Kirk (Robbie), Cole Kennedy, Tyler Elmore (Lacey), Lindsey Elmore; and ten great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Hunter Sartain, Clay Sartain, Cole Kennedy, Tyler Elmore, Doug Henry, and Jeff Kelly. Lewis Errol Beasley, age 70, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Graveside service with Military Honors will be held Thursday, February 15, at 9:30 at Sunset Memorial Park and a Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. at Northport City Hall. Errol is preceded in death by his father, John T. Beasley, Jr. Survivors include his mother, Laura Brazil Beasley, daughter, Jennifer Lynn Beasley, Northport; grandson, Brantley Alexander Hodo (Kierston), great grandson, Paxton James Hodo of Samantha. Brothers are Steven Craig Beasley (Tammy) and Donald Wayne Beasley all of Northport. Errol was born and raised in Northport; he joined the Army National Guard and retired with 42 years of service as Master Sergeant. He worked hard to provide service to his country, his community and his family until his final day. Errol was owner of Major Service Company and employed by the City of Northport as a Maintenance Superintendent with Public Works for 27 years. He was a member of Friends of Historic Northport Board of Directors and his involvement was intricate to maintaining Friends of Historic Northport properties, including The Shirley Place, Northport Heritage Museum, Clements House, and Umbria Schoolhouse. He was also extremely involved with Kentuck Festival of the Arts. Pallbearers are Jeff Wheat, Sylvester Whitehead, Emmitt Prince, Dalton Higgins, Don Beasley, and Brantley Hodo. Honorary pallbearers are Alabama Army National Guard, Cathy Randall, Clark & Sandra Collins, Ryan deGraffenried III, Ken Swindle, City of Northport staff, Donna Barrett, and City of Northport Fire Chief, Bart Marshall.
