Jerry Lynn Page, a lifelong resident of Southeast Texas, was called home on May 5, 2023, with his loving wife of more than 42 years, Clara Page, by his side. Born July 25, 1946, Jerry graduated from Silsbee High School in 1965 before joining the Air Force. After returning home to the Golden Triangle, he married Clara, his best friend and love of his life on October 25, 1980. As a proud Air Force veteran, Jerry served for over three decades as a reservist, jailer, and deputy with the Orange County Sheriff's Department. In his numerous retelling of stories from his time with the sheriff's department, his favorite stories always revolved around Blue Santa or Cops with Kids. Known as an adventurer, wanderer, and traveler, he and Clara enjoyed loading up in the car with his 50s and 60s music blaring or latest book on tape cued up to see where the road would lead them. Whether at home or on the road, he never met a stray animal he would not befriend or take in. In addition to his love of animals, the tough sheriff exterior could be melted away by his love of children. His rambunctious, playful demeanor made him the favorite uncle of every niece and nephew, but just in case Jerry would lock in his favorite uncle title by giving the "best" presents to his nieces and nephews and later great-nieces and nephews. While the parents of said children may not have agreed the loud noises, bright lights, or thousands of pieces (some assembly required) constituted the "best" presents, he knew his target audience. Seeing them light up smiling from ear to ear was all the encouragement he needed to search for the next big hit. At Christmas or birthday celebrations Jerry was easy to spot. He could be found on the floor playing with one kid as another jumped on his back while peals of laughter echoed throughout the afternoon until it was hard to tell who was more worn out at the end of the day: Jerry or the kids. Jerry is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Forrest Page and wife, Pernettie Richardson Page and Oscar Staley and wife, Fannie; parents, William Forrest Page and wife, Pearl Staley Page; son, Jason Scarborough; and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Welborn and Don Welborn. He is survived by his wife, Clara Page; sister, Gloria Page Riley and husband, Arthur, their daughter, Daedra D'ann Riley and her son, Logan Joseph Riley; sister-in-law, Carol Welborn; nephew, Grady Welborn his wife, Lindy, and their children, Rylen and Rhyes; niece Kayla Wiede, her husband Matt and their children Brynlee, Blake, and Brandt. A gathering of Mr. Page's family and friends will be from 10:00 a. m. until 11:30 a. m. , Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His graveside service will follow at 12:30 p. m. at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street, Beaumont.
