Jerry Thurman McClanahan, 86, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau He was born July 3, 1937, to Victor T and Lilly Steakley McClanahan He and Phyllis Jean Sperling were married April 17, 1960, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville, Missouri Four children were born to their union: Bradley, Kimberly, Tammy, and Sherry Jerry and Phyllis had been married for 60 years when Phyllis passed away November 17, 2020 Jerry attended Jackson High School He was an Airman First Class, honorably serving in the U S Air Force, from July 1954 to July 1958, during the Korean War Jerry was always a complete gentleman, and often said, "The military had a big influence in his life and molded him into the man he became" After his military service, Jerry worked at McDonnell Douglas and Landgraf Construction He held licenses in electrical and plumbing In 1973, he established McClanahan Construction Company, where he enjoyed working 40 years with his late son, Bradley He enjoyed all construction but was happiest when he was able to build a home from "the ground up" Jerry was an avid bowler He liked shooting matches, fishing, rabbit and deer hunting, and billiards But, more than anything, he loved being with his grandchildren, and attending their school functions and sport events Jerry is survived by three daughters, Kimberly McClanahan of Salem, Missouri, Tammy Hunt of Oak Ridge, and Sherry McClanahan and husband Roger Hluzek of St Charles, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Tammy (the late Bradley) McClanahan of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jim (Jan) McClanahan of Cape Girardeau; George (Diane) McClanahan of Calabash, South Carolina; Roger (Betty) McClanahan, Doyle (Judy) McClanahan, and Pat McClanahan all of Jackson He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis McClanahan; a son, Bradley McClanahan (August 20, 2023); a granddaughter; and his parents Visitation is from 9:30 to 11:30 a m , Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville The Rev Dan Warner will conduct the funeral service at 11:30 a m , Tuesday, October 10, at the church Interment will follow in the church cemetery If considering a memorial donation, the family suggests Zion Lutheran Church Online condolences may be sent to the family by clicking on the tribute wall tab above Jerry's obituary article at mccombsfuneralhome com

Thomas R. "Bob" McLane, 81, of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the home of his daughter, in Oak Ridge. He was born August 23, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, to Kennett and Elois Drum McLane. He and Karen Darlene Scheper were married May 24, 1969, at First Assembly of God Church in Cape Girardeau. Three children were born to their union, Chuck, Heath, and Mary. Bob was a 1960 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He honorably served six years in the Missouri Army National Guard. Bob was a lifelong truck driver. He drove for O'Loughlin Farms; Sealtest, Litz Poultry, and Kasten's. He retired several years ago, but still liked to drive, so he kept driving part-time, "officially retiring" from Paving Pro's in 2021. Bob was a member of New Salem Methodist Church in Daisy, Missouri. Loving survivors include three children, Chuck McLane of Oak Ridge, Heath (Rebekah) McLane and children Kennett and Garrett of China Spring, Texas, Mary Mason and children Hunter and Dylan of Oak Ridge; a brother, Bill (Jean) McLane of Millersville; brother-in-law, Gary Scheper of Cape Girardeau; four nieces, Sara Turner of Jackson, Raegan Hinkle of Anna, Illinois, April Whiteside of Pocahontas, Missouri, Jan Miller of Oklahoma; a nephew, Chris McLane of Daisy; and former sister-in-law, Barb Scheper. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Gladys Baylor Scheper. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 7 p. m. , Friday, December 1, 2023, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Matt Stroder will conduct the funeral service at 2 p. m. , Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Daisy. "Mary Norma Buerck, 92, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Saint Francis Medical Center. She was born November 8, 1931 in Bloomsdale, Missouri to Virgil Hoffman, Sr. and Ellen Cissell Hoffman. She and Earl William Buerck were married November 11, 1950 at St. Mary\u0027s of the Barrens in Perryville, Missouri. Norma was a graduate of Perryville High School and Southeast Missouri State University. She taught at Notre Dame High School where she also served as the librarian. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was a volunteer at Southeast Hospital. Survivors include her children, Vicky (Cliff) Hardt of College Grove, Tennessee, Becky (Wayne) Daume of Cape Girardeau, Randy (Susan) Buerck of Cape Girardeau, Christie (Michael) Morton of Austin, Texas and Pam (Dave) Bayer of Clearwater, Florida; 10 grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Carter, Heather (Shane) Douglas, Bryan Daume, Jennifer Barylski, Eric (Rachael) Daume, Daniel (Chris) Buerck, Timothy (Andrea) Buerck, Carlie Morton, Lance (Abby) Bayer and Beau Bayer; 11 great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Ralph Friga of Cape Girardeau. "Martin E. \u0026quot;Bud\u0026quot; Robinson peacefully passed to Heavenly rest Thursday, November 23, 2023. He was born January 12, 1930, and married Roberta E. Grossheider June 6, 1953. Martin was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Trinity Men\u0027s Club. Martin served in the Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War. Over the years his servant attitude benefited family and friends, using his carpentry, plumbing and electrical skills to build houses, perform light remodeling construction, electrical wiring and plumbing repairs. He and Roberta had two sons, Keith and Karl. Martin and Roberta traveled the United States extensively over the years and Martin was keen to explore the less - traveled paths, which led to numerous adventures. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alma (Siemers) Robinson, his wife, Roberta, sister Doris Snider, and brother Gerald Robinson. He is survived by his sister Carolyn White of Cape Girardeau, son Karl Robinson of Cape Girardeau and son Keith Robinson, a daughter-in-law Elise (Arnold) Robinson, grandchildren Kristen and Eric Robinson, grand-daughter in law Rosa (Arellano Parga) Robinson, and one great-grandson, Callan Robinson, all of Kansas City, Missouri. "Patty Mauldin, 81, passed away Nov 23, 2023 at her home in Cape Girardeau with her daughters by her side. She was born in 1942 in St Louis, MO. She graduated from Joplin High School and Pittsburg State University with a BS in Education. After graduation, she married Bill and was with him until his death in 2006. In 2012, she moved from Springfield, MO to Cape Girardeau to be near her daughters. She was a lifelong member of Chapel for Peace in Springfield, MO. Patty was an active member of PEO Chapter LY, Cape Girardeau. She enjoyed Tai Chi, spending time with her family, and traveling. She was an avid St Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan. She is survived by her daughters Lisa Begley (Randy), and Janet Johnson of Cape Girardeau; 5 grandchildren, Kristen Watts (Ryan), Nicholas Johnson, Ryan Begley, Emily Johnson, and Liz Young (Jeff); her brother Fred and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill of 42 years, parents, her brother Jim, and her longtime companion Ed White. At Patty\u0027s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. "Phillip Campbell, 76, of Cape Girardeau, MO, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on November 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after bravely enduring an extended illness. He was born in Cairo, IL at St. Mary Hospital Aug 1, 1947, to John H. and Margaret Jordan Campbell. Raised on the five-generation family farm on County Line Road in Alexander County, IL, Phil\u0027s roots ran deep in the soil of his community. He graduated from Anna Jonesboro High School in 1965 and furthered his education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. Phil\u0027s dedication to service led him to join the Naval Reserve, where he courageously served in Vietnam in the Gulf of Tonkin. On June 23, 1973, he married the love of his life, Barbara Bowers, and together they shared 50 years of a steadfast and loving marriage. For 29 years, Phil contributed his talents to Procter and Gamble, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many colleagues who became lifelong friends. A true enthusiast, Phil\u0027s passion for automobiles, motorcycles, and the antique tractor his grandfather acquired in 1959 was evident throughout his life. Over the years, he owned numerous cars and motorcycles, embarking on countless adventures with Barbara and friends to races, swap meets, museums, and race tracks. Motorcycle trips to various Western destinations with cherished friends brought him great joy. Phil was a member of the AMA, the Penton Owners Group, the Ferrari Club of St. Louis, and the Egypt Mills Tractor Club. Phil never met a stranger and appreciated people from all walks of life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara; son, Christopher, of St. Petersburg, FL; sister-in-law, Kimberly Schulz; nephew, James Schulz, of Cincinnati, Ohio; aunts and uncle-in-law; and numerous cousins and friends. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Campbell, and his brother, Stanley Campbell. Phil\u0027s legacy lives on in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His kindness, adventurous spirit, and zest for life will be deeply missed, but the impact of his love and generosity will resonate in the hearts of family and friends forever.
