Obituary of Jerry Beckstrom Jerry Delain Beckstrom, 77, of Falconer passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. Jerry was born June 23, 1941 in Jamestown where he lived most of his life. He had resided in Falconer for the past 44 years. He graduated from Jamestown High School 1959. He retired from Blackstone Business Enterprises (formerly Jamestown Metal Mfg.) in 2013. Jerry was previously employed by Watson Mfg, Dawson Metal and Hendrix Corporation. Jerry enjoyed spending summers at Hidden Valley Campground, making many lasting friends. He enjoyed nothing more than chatting with old friends or new acquaintances about the 'good old days.' Following many years of tipping a toddy or two, his most prized accomplishment was celebrating his 5 th year of sobriety on December 28, 2018. That feat could not have been reached without his AA family, especially his dear friend, Tommy B. To these people, his family will be forever grateful. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Heasley Beckstrom whom he married in 1971 in Jamestown; 6 children: Dale (David) Mathews of Westfield, NY, Daryl Johnson (Rick Smith) of Dorchester, MA, Darcy (Brenda) Beckstrom of Cohocton, NY, Delain Johnson of Fredericksburg, VA, Daphne Swanson of Richmond, VA and Kimberly Beckstrom (Adam Bell) Hockessin, DE. He is also survived by two sisters: Anne Hunsznger of Painted Post, NY, Kay (Dan) Aiken of Newburgh, IN and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Richard Beckstrom, in 1980 and his mother Dorothy Delain Beckstrom, in 1989. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Deacon Dan Tyler officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701.
