IN LOVING MEMORY OF GEORGIA ANN (MILLER) RICHIE: D. O. B. - November 8, 1930 D. O. D. - November 14, 2023It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Georgia Ann (Miller) Richie on November 14, 2023, at OSU Wexner Medical Center. Over the past two years Georgia had courageously battled multiple health issues. She was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, great-aunt and dear friend. Georgia was also grandmother to many wonderful grand-dogs over the years. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. Georgia was born near Patriot, OH to Cecil A. and Margaret I. Miller, who preceded her in death. She had one sister, Barbara Ellen Ault. Georgia attended Cadmus High School and graduated in 1948. After graduation, she attended Bliss Business College in Columbus, OH. Shortly thereafter, Georgia would return to Gallia County where she resided for her entire life. Georgia married and began working at Buckeye Rural Electric in the 1950s and 60s. She left to raise her daughter, Crystal. When Crystal started school in the early 70s, Georgia took a position at the Ohio Valley Bank, where she remained for over 25 years. Georgia's family was the center of her world and her love for her only child, Crystal, knew no bounds. Crystal was the joy and pride of Georgia's life and their bond was unbreakable. The two navigated life together and their love and support for each other was evident to all who knew them. Georgia's love extended beyond her human family to her four-legged friends. A true animal advocate, she found joy and companionship in the wagging tails and unconditional love of her pets and grand-dogs. Her home was always filled with the love of her loyal four-legged friends - Lucky, Tuffy, Rylee, Dudley, Huntley Blade and most recently - Hudson, who passed just days before Georgia. Georgia enjoyed hearing stories about the lives of her loved ones. She loved her home along the Ohio river, where she resided for over 60 years. She enjoyed watching wrestling and always argued with her daughter that those matches were real. She enjoyed the Ohio State Buckeyes and many genres of music. Her favorite songs were "Tennessee Waltz" by Patti Page and, of course, "Georgia on my Mind" by Willie Nelson. Georgia is survived by her sister, Barbara Ellen Ault; her daughter, Crystal Renee Richie and Crystal's husband, John Mosher. She is also survived by a niece, Monica Carter and Monica's husband, David as well as a nephew, Marc Ault and Marc's wife, Guelda. She is also survived by a great-niece, Tee Carter and a great-nephew, David Carter, Jr and his partner, Robin Kaip. As we lay Georgia to rest, let us remember the legacy of love and compassion she leaves behind. May her spirit find eternal peace and may her memory continue to bring comfort to the hearts of those who knew her and loved her. A graveside service is planned for Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, 4423 Nebo Road, Patriot OH. Family and friends are welcome. In honor of Georgia's wishes, a celebration of her life is being planned by her family for the spring of 2024 and will be announced later by Waugh Halley Wood Funeral Home.
