Mr. Jerry "Cobb" Abernathy, age 73 of Centre, passed away Wednesday April 24 at his residence. He was a native of Cherokee County, son of the late Henry Mark and Jessie Ruth Haggard Abernathy, retired from Fruit of the Loom and of the Baptist Faith. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, April 27 at Perry Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. Mickey Skates, Ricky Clark and Mike Ralney officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. Payne, Glenn (Carolynn) Abernathy of Centre; Sisters:Sarah Ruth Hunter, Centre, Virginia Slayton, Centre, Marie (A.J.) Corbin, Rome, GA, Five Grandchildren, one great Grandchild and several Nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by Brothers, Kenneth Ray and Danny Reb Abernathy and Sisters, Margie Bearden and Betty Ann Abernathy. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
