"Jerald Mark Duncan M. D. , age 83, died September 5, 2023. He was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma in 1939 to Jerald Mark Duncan and Donna McDaniel Duncan. Originally from the West Tennessee area, the Duncans returned to Memphis after WWII. His graduating certificates were from Bartlett High, Rhodes College, and the University of Tennessee College of Medicine (1965), where he completed his Residency/Fellowship in Pediatrics/Allergy \u0026amp; Immunology. As a founder of Allergy and Asthma Care, he spent 55 years of dedicated care for patients. His patients were fully friends. His undergraduate English degree provided a passion for lifelong learning as well as a communicating vehicle. Priority to Idlewild Presbyterian Church, Rhodes College, friends and family made his life more complete. His faith formed how he showed up in this world which was honorable, kind, trustworthy and generous. His favorite travel spots were Ireland and France. He loved chamber music, played piano by ear and was especially fond of organ music. Duncan earned his pilot\u0027s license and flew regularly to his Jonesboro medical practice and to East Tennessee where he and his wife, Martha Ann, had a cabin. They often entertained friends and family, and hiked the Appalachian Trail. He was known in the duck blind as well as on the dance floor, or in a Shakespeare reading class. Duncan was present in the lives and interests of all people. He was a devoted father and inspired his children to serve others, seek Christ in all things and pursue goals with the best of efforts. Duncan was a dedicated husband and caregiver to his departed wife and love of his life Martha Ann Chadwick Duncan. They spent 25 years of marriage as the dearest of mates, enjoying family and friends, music, cooking, with being of service to others as a life priority. He is survived by his brother Joe McDaniel Duncan and his wife Lee and son Andrew; daughter Ashley Duncan Mahaffey and her husband Mark and their children, Sara and Mark; daughter Donna Duncan and her children, Alberto and Marcus; step-daughter Courtney Shepherd and her husband James and their children, William and Caroline. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Idlewild Church, Rhodes College, or donor\u0027s choice. The funeral service will be Friday, September 29, 2023, 10:00 at Idlewild Presbyterian Church, 1750 Union Ave. , Memphis, Tennessee 38104. A reception and time for sharing memories will be held immediately afterward at Idlewild. "

"Dan Ralph died on Friday, December 1, 2023 after a valiant fight against cancer. Dan passed peacefully at St Francis Bartlett with his wife, Ann, at his side. He was 75 years old. Dan is survived by his wife Ann (Julius) Ralph, children, Amy Makowsky (Martin), Rebecca Allison (Lee), siblings James (Jim) Ralph (Becky), Michael (Mike) Ralph Sr. (Vickie), Lisa Lyon (David), and grandson James along with nieces and nephews. Dan was born on March 16, 1948 in Denver, Colorado to parents James and Gracelynn Ralph. The family later moved to Memphis, TN where Dan went to Central High School (Class of "66) where he ran track then went on to attend Memphis State University. After college, Dan used his passion for photography to enter the medical photography profession working for prominent surgeons at Smith \u0026amp; Nephew, The Medical Education \u0026amp; Research Institute, and Campbell's Clinic. He was instrumental in aiding several text books and research releases with his in-depth surgical photos. Dan taught photography for a time and had his own developing lab. Dan donated his beautiful framed artwork to the PBS Annual Art Auction. Later in life, Dan became a master locksmith and was an active member of the West TN Locksmith Association. He thoroughly enjoyed this profession for its detailed work. His last employer, AAA Locksmith, he cherished for the family environment and stayed in close contact with its owners and employees during his fight with cancer. Dan was an avid outdoorsman and lifelong athlete. His hobbies were all things in nature. He especially loved hiking, karate, fishing, horse back riding, outdoor photography, and dog training. His dog training brought him to showing the high point bitch Welsh Springer Spaniel which he was immensely proud of for his adult life. Dan trained in obedience, agility, tracking, and even professionally for commercials. Dan shared a love of horses with family. His aunt and uncle, Peggy and JR, had a small appaloosa farm in the hills of Colorado where he was likely to grab a pony and a bed roll and head into the hills alone for the weekend. Dan an enthusiastic member of Nashoba Amateur Radio Club for a decade. He used W4DQG as his call sign in remembrance of Fr. Joseph Julius. He enjoyed learning all about ham radios and their capabilities while developing close friendships through daily calls to other ham radio user daily. Dan was a devout Catholic who attended Holy Rosary Church and became one of the only diocesan certified Lecturers at his church. He was very proud to be a lecturer at the Sunday morning 9am mass. Dan joined the Knights of Columbus and later ascended to Fourth Degree in a ceremony with his son-in-law, Martin. The Celebration of Dan's life will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 4851 Park Avenue, Memphis, TN 38117. "Mr. Harry Russell Armstrong III was born December 6, 1946, the first son of Harry and Rosie Armstrong. Harry Armstrong was a quiet young man. He enlisted in the military at the age of eighteen. He completed his education in the military and achieved his GED. During his service in the military, he was an inquisitive young man who was eager to learn. Following basic training in the Army, he was sent to war in Vietnam, determined to be the best he could be. He became an expert missile sharpshooter, saving many lives in his platoon. He would always say he never missed a target. My brother did a lot of things in the military that I had little knowledge of, but today, he is my hero. Upon his discharge from the military, Harry started working for Illinois Central Railroad. His duties were to ensure that the railway remained clear and safe with navigable maintenance of way. He inspected and replaced worn-out parts, etc. ; Harry carried out his roles which carried a lot of responsibility. He retired after 25 years of service. Harry gave his life to God in his later years and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church on South Parkway under the leadership of Pastor Eric L. Winston, Sr. Harry was a kindhearted person, always giving and sharing. He was loved by many and everyone spoke highly of him. He was mild-mannered and quiet. He loved to ride in a nice car and loved to dress really nice; he was loved by many. On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, he transitioned to his final home. Grateful for my nephew, Dewayne Lee Armstrong, and his friend for assisting me in taking care of his uncle during his final days of life. Harry had no children of his own. He is survived by four sisters and one brother, Doris J. Quinn, Juanita Lee Armstong, Ida Mae (Lonnie) Doggett, Rubystein Armstrong, and Anthony Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Danny Ray Harper passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour on November 30, 2023. He was the youngest of five children born to Lewis D. Harper, Sr. and Myrtle P. Harper. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lewis D Harper, Jr. sister Madeline C. (Harper) Russell, brother Jimmy S. Harper and brother Bobby E. Harper and his step-son Barry D. Sulpizio. He is survived by his loving wife Janice D. Harper of San Antonio , TX, son Aaron B. Harper and wife Jennifer of DeForest, WI, son Adam B. Harper of Reedsport, OR and daughter-in-law Diana L. Sulpizio of San Antonio , TX. He is also survived by his step-mother Fumiko (Tezuka) Harper of Benton, LA, half-sister Suzanne N. (Harper) Stinson and husband Ford of Benton, LA and half-brother Anthony K. Harper and wife Lisa of Mesa, AZ. Danny served in the US Army for 21 years retiring as a Master Sergeant. He saw service in the Republic of Vietnam and in Germany retiring from the Army in June of 1987 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. He held numerous jobs in life and greatly enjoyed working in information technology following his military service. Danny loved his family above all else. His happiest times were those spent visiting with family over the years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed tennis, softball, pool and table tennis. His hobbies were electronics, computer programming and occasionally playing the piano and plinking the guitar. Danny leaves behind grandchildren Micheal A. Harper and Vanessa Salazar of Liverpool, TX, Samantha C. Harper of Houston, TX, Audrey G. Sulpizio of San Antonio, TX, Adam W. Boehl of San Antonio, TX, great granddaughter Kya Harper of Liverpool, TX and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the staff and workers at Harbour Hospice of Bexar County for their dedication, kind and compassionate care provided to Danny. Danny requested cremation and to be entombed at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. No services will be held at this time per his request. Entombment with full military honors at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Pavillion is tentatively planned for March 14, 2024. "Joe Clement Harris died peacefully at his home on December 5, 2023, at the age of 78. Joe was born in Dresden, Tennessee on November 5, 1945. He was preceded in death by his father, Emerson Sidney Harris, and his mother, Alva Josephine Harris Robinson. Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Sue Pace Harris, and three sons, all of Memphis: Jonathan Andrew Harris (Jenny), James Christopher Harris (Jenni), and Jeffrey Thomas Harris (Marlow); three granddaughters, Taylor, Camille, and Corinne, and two grandsons, Jackson and Tucker. He also leaves his sister, Glenda Sidney Kennedy of Medina, Tennessee. Joe graduated from Dresden High School in 1963 and attended the University of Tennessee at Martin before graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in 1968. An interest in dentistry led him to the UT College of Dentistry and his 45-year dental practice in Memphis. Joe had a great love for his patients, family, friends, and his church. Throughout his life, Joe enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, including an annual fishing trip to Kentucky Lake with high school and college friends. Many fond memories were made at his farm in Byhalia, Mississippi, where he took great pride in the crops and enjoyed mowing fields with his "Little Red" Ford tractor. He loved playing card games, especially gin. He had a recent running game of more than 70,000 points with a close friend, and he enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to play. He loved watching Western movies and television shows. Above all, Joe's favorite pastime was sharing a meal with his family at home or taking them out to eat. One of his favorite verses was Psalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. " His family would like to thank the many health professionals at Stern Cardiovascular, Fresenius Kidney Care, West Cancer Center, and Segue who worked to help Joe. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Child Evangelism Fellowship. Visitation will be Monday, December 11, from 11:30 a. m. to 12:45 p. m. at Covenant Baptist Church, 3170 S. Houston Levee Rd. , Collierville, Tenn. , with a service at 1 p. m.
