Audreanna Ohshay Marie Hidalgo, 26, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Audreanna was born into her loving family, on April 8, 1997. Audreanna passionately loved people, especially the elderly, children, and people in need. She especially enjoyed her time working as a caregiver and taking care of others. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends during her downtime. Her favorite color was pink and she loved flowers. Audreanna had an innate ability to see the good in everyone and was known for her incredibly fun-loving spirit and infectious smile. She loved to make people laugh and lift their spirits. She loved music and loved to dance. Audreanna accomplished her purpose in life as a much-loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and loyal friend. She was a beautiful individual and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In bidding farewell, I urge all of us to honor Audrey’s memory by living our lives with the same kindness, passion, and love that she exemplified. Billy Dean "Bill" Means, 89, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024. He was born January 31, 1935 to Evert F. Means and Lestie C. (McClellan) Means. Raised in rural Goddard, Bill worked alongside his father on the family farm even through his college years. Bill is a graduate of the Goddard school district, went on to attend Friends University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in education. With a thirst for knowledge and a drive to feed the minds of the next generation, Bill continued on his path of higher learning attaining his Masters from Emporia State University. Bill was a well-known and dedicated teacher and coach throughout Wichita and the surrounding areas and became a staple of the community. Coach Means, as he came to be known by many, was a pillar of the education and athletic system and will be missed. He began his coaching career in Haysville and then went on to Clearwater and Arkansas City; he continued on to Wichita Southeast and then retired from the Wichita School District. He continued coaching and teaching in the Andover School District and finally was an assistant coach at Wichita Northwest and Wichita West. In his spare time, he took immense pride watching his son, J. Means follow his path and continue the journey of coaching throughout the greater Wichita area. He found great comfort watching and supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren as they excelled in sports and theater. He is preceded in death by his parents, Evert and Lestie Means. Bill is survived by his wife, Meredith Means; son J. (Cindy) Means; grandchildren, Nic (Melissa) Means and Bailey (Michael) Andrako; great grandchildren: Preston Means, Carter Jensen, Laetyn Jensen, Anestyn Means, Sophie Andrako, Noah Andrako and Kai Jensen; brothers, Glea (Vicki) Means and Don (JoAnn) Means; sister, Sharon (Steve) Holloway; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation for Bill with family present will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209. A funeral service will occur Friday, March 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at College Hill United Methodist Church, 2930 E 1st St N, Wichita, KS 67214. A committal service will occur Friday, March 8, 2024 immediately to follow the service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in The Garden of Gospels. Mary Elizabeth Oakes Mehl, 84, died February 29, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born January 10, 1940, in Hookerton, NC to Benton Watkins and Thelma (Taylor) Oakes, Sr. Mary Elizabeth graduated from Stedman High School, Stedman, NC in 1958, and Lenoir Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Kinston, NC, in 1960. Her entire working career was that of a caregiver, working as a registered nurse in either a hospital or retirement community. From an early age, Mary Elizabeth attended church with her parents and currently was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson. She enjoyed singing in church choirs and gardening. Mary Elizabeth held many titles, but her proudest title was that of a wife, mommy, and grandma. On November 9, 1961, she married Gene L. Mehl. He died June 2, 2018, after they shared over 56 years of marriage. Mary Elizabeth is survived by: son, Gene A. Mehl (Debora); daughters, Connie Lynn Bohringer, all of Hutchinson, and Pamela Joy Conklin (Christopher) of Sanford, NC; Gene’s children, Michael Mehl (Cassie), Mathew Mehl, Lester ‘Tra’ Cape (Angelica), Christopher Cape (Crystal), Adam Cape, and Breia Venegas (Mario); Connie’s children, Lorenzo Bohringer (Adrienne), Mikel Bohringer (Chelsey), and Shania Green (Spencer); Pamela’s children, Jonathan Conklin (Brooke), Joshua Conklin (Rikki), and Christopher Conklin II; siblings, Joe Oakes (Pam), David Oakes (Ji Wone), Ellen Bill, Peggy Carter, and Carol Rouse (Bobby); sisters-in law, Sue Oakes, Louise Oakes, and Kathy Oakes; brother-in-law, Don Mehl; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in by: her parents; brothers, Keith Oakes, Benton W. Oakes, Jr., Fletcher Oakes, and Kenneth Oakes; and granddaughters, Jacqueline Rose Conklin and Amy Mehl; and brothers-in-law, Harold Bill and Pete Carter; sisters-in-law, Betty Beagley (Ermon) and Mary E. Mehl. Funeral service will be 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2024, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastors Quentin Nuttmann and Henry Blickhahn officiating. Graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Holyrood. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
