Rod Trivette, age 103, of Mountain City passed away February 21, 2024 in the Mountain City Care Center. He was born October 9, 1920 to the late Garfield and Vira Martin Trivette. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by several nieces and nephews, brothers, Arlis, Dean, Bob, Clay and Ottis and sisters, Elva Mae Stout, Virda Mae Stout and Patsy Eggers. Rod attended Rainbow Mennonite Church. He enjoyed busting wood, mowing and gardening. In addition to his brother, Bill Trivette and wife Rita of Mountain City, he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 pm - 2 pm Sunday, February 25, 2024 in the Buford Lipford Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Gambill officiating. Following the visitation we will go in procession to the Trivette Cemetery on Forge Creek Road for the Graveside service. Stephen Dale Capps passed peacefully at home with his wife by his side February 21, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Louise Brown Capps of North Carolina and baby son. Stephen retired from the United State Army in 1986. He and his wife, Patricia had many adventures together. Both worked for the State of North Carolina and decided to drive long haul OTR for TRL Trucking and WLA Trucking as team drivers. Stephen and Patricia were together for 21 years, filled with love and laughter. In addition to his wife, Patricia, those left to cherish his memories include his sister and brother in law Gailyn, Kevin Thompson; niece Kimberly white and husband John; son, Richard Capps; 2 daughters, Beverly and Marie; grandchild, Nigela Capps; step-son and wife, Jessie and Patty Moore; step grandchildren, Alexander and kaitlyn Wakefield and step great grandchildren, Wyatt, Mason Wakefield and Ava Wakefield and cousins, Janice and Don Smith.We would like to thank our loving friends who have reached out with prayers and the wonderful staff of Gentiva Hospice Care. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rick Mabe and a niece, Susan Ibarra.Rhonda was a member of Wesley Chapel Church. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with her family and was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Russell Everett Hokanson, age 82 of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully at Mountain City Care Center on January 25, 2024 after a brief illness. He stayed with his daughter in Delaware for a few months then came to live with his daughter and family in Mountain City after the loss of his beloved wife of 59 years, Barbara Hokanson. He was born on March 16, 1941 in Worcester, Massachusetts to the late Everett and Lillian Hokanson. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws; as he was an only child. He is survived by his two daughters, Donna Hokanson of Wilmington, DE, Debbie Jennings and husband Moses of Mountain City, TN; his grandchildren, Krista Jennings, Mark Jennings and wife Sarah; great grandchildren, Shawn, Matthew, Kelsey Forrester, McKenzie and Luke Jennings all of Mountain City, TN. Russ loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and making memories. He worked as a chemical engineer with DuPont for 30 years before retiring at the age of 50. He then became very active, going to the YMCA every day and traveling all over the world. He had many friends all over the place. He was a healthy, fit man who ran a lot of races including the New York Marathon over the years. A special thank you to the wonderful caring staff at Mountain City Care Center for the care he received while there; as well as Gentiva Hospice. The memorial service for Russ will be held on February 16, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. with calling hours from 11:00-12:00 at St. Philips Lutheran Church, 5320 Limestone Road, Wilmington, Delaware. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Brooks and Carl Stanley; daughter, Kathy Testerman; grandson, Chris Brooks; and brothers, David Combs and William Combs. Eva was giving and caring; she would give her last penny to someone in need. She was a great cook and was known for her biscuits and gravy. Eva loved to watch Days of Our Lives and enjoyed talking on the phone. She was a member of Ackerson Creek Church of Christ for many years.Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Michael Brooks and wife, Brenda; granddaughter, Tonia Jones and husband, Chris; great-grandson, Cash Jones; brother, Fred Combs; stepchildren, Steve Stanley and wife Kim, Jerry Stanley and wife Perriann, and Tony Stanley and wife Charmin; step-grandchildren, Faye Baker, Justin Stanley, Tanieka Halberg, Leslie Forrester, Ashley James, Katie Stanley, Kayla Stanley and Jessica Jupin; several step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Delmar Stanley and wife Evelyn. Chris Fuchs, age 61, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at his home. Chris was born April 7, 1962 to the late William Fuchs, Sr. and Helga Kenipp Fuchs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gayle Fuchs; sisters, Margaret Fuchs, Ann Kasinerve, and Celeste Fuchs; and brothers, William Fuchs, Jr. and Gary Fuchs. Chris was a veteran who proudly served in the United States Air Force. He liked gardening and also enjoyed decorating for Christmas. It gave him great joy to put up hundreds of lights each year to spread cheer to anyone who saw them. He also retired from the aerospace industry after over 39 years of service. Chris was of the Christian faith. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Lynn Fuchs; sister-in-law, Rosemary Hedgedus; and special friends, Charlie and Janice Eckmann, Laurie Dutchrn, Joe Staco, and Dave and June Hubbard. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home. Gaylon N. Taylor, formerly of Laurel Bloomery, joined his beloved wife, Susan Taylor, on January 18, 2024 following an extended illness. Mr. Taylor was a former member of the 776 Maintenance Co. and he served his country during the Persian Gulf War. He was also a member of Taylorsville Masonic Lodge and Maple Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. In addition, he also was a member of the Jerico Shriners and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.He is survived by his three children, Nathan Taylor, (Greenville, TN), Lucinda Snyder (Waynesville, MO) and Travis Taylor (Waynesville, MO); two grandchildren, Carson Taylor (Johnson City, TN) and Maylee Snyder (Waynesville, MO) as well as his special canine companion, Chewbacca.Mr. Taylor requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to his favorite charities he supported throughout his life: Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.This obituary is posted as a courtesy to the Taylor family, Mountain City Funeral Home is not handling any services.
