Wilma A. Twigger, 97, of Washington, formerly Houston, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born February 11, 1926, in Briar Hill, a daughter of the late Harry and Sara Inks White. Mrs. Twigger was a graduate of Redstone High School. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Houston and Chartiers Chapter #97 Order of the Eastern Star. Wilma enjoyed cross stitching and baking. On July 23, 1943, she married James R. Twigger who died October 24, 2003. Surviving are a son, James R. Twigger Jr. (Becky) of Cecil Township; two daughters, Joan Rohaly (the late John) of Canonsburg and Karen Milne (John) of Washington; five grandchildren, Melissa Brower, Jamie Bonazzoli (A. J. ), James F. Twigger (Amy), Greg Twigger (Dianne) and Alison Allison (Jason); eight great grandchildren, Madi Bonazzoli, Ellie, Emmie, Zachary and Bethany Twigger and Bailey, Kaitlyn and Whitney Allison. Sharon M. Rutan, 79, passes away peacefully, Thursday, November 2, 2023. She was born November 9, 1943, in Washington, a daughter of the late Charles and Florence Clutter Loughman. Sharon was a 1964 graduate of McGuffey High School and was a member of the New Life in Christ Church, Washington. She loved flower gardening, cooking, baking, decoration for every holiday and spending time with her neighbors. Her true joy was as the primary care giver to her son Charlie. Her husband, Jack Rutan died September 20, 2020. Surviving are a daughter, Tammy Burgess (William) of Houston; three sons, Harry Hartzell of Butler, Roger Hartzell (Nikki) of Bethel Park and Charles Rutan of E. Liverpool, OH. ; a brother, Ronnie Loughman (Rose) of Prosperity; a sister, Shirley Miller of Prosperity; a brother-in-law, Barry Rutan of E. Liverpool, OH; a sister-in-law, Linda Rutan of Washington; 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, a brother Nelson Loughman is deceased. Douglas W Bush, 64, of Washington, passed away after a two-year fight with cancer, Monday, October 9, 2023, in the Washington Hospital with his family and long-time friends at his side He passed just as he lived, with intention Douglas was born June 20, 1959, in Washington, a son of the late Clifford and Clara Boldon Bush Doug was a 1977 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School where he was a standout athlete in football and wrestling and attended Williams College in Williamstown, MA He loved his tropical fish that filled his six aquariums and his many plants in his home and even more at the mission He and his cousin Terri Bush-Brown made an annual pilgrimage to a nursery every year to replenish He was an avid reader and watched and would not be interrupted during Jeopardy every day and he frequently knew the answers He loved participating in the community drum circle Douglas loved to travel He annually visited Martha's Vinyard and his cousin Cheryl Williams in Jacksonville, FL He called his longtime friend Doug Young every Christmas Eve since they met almost 20 years ago Doug's life centered around his love of the Lord and bringing God's word to all He was a member of the Legacy Church International and was Pastor at Legacy Recovery Church Doug worked with the Observer Reporter for 12 years delivering Newspapers and called it his duty of washing feet He did it for exercise and for the community and always sent a text message morning devotion after he finished the route He spent over 24 years with the Washington City Mission Early on as a place to stay, but as time evolved, so did Doug In those years, he served as Donations Manager, Director of Operations and most recently as Paul's House Coordinator and most importantly to Doug - Chaplain Doug's mission was to heal and restore the homeless to independent living without judgement or discrimination He let God touch people through him and brought hope to all who met him through his presence and testimony For his dedication and humanitarian actions, Doug received the Washington County Community Foundation - Louis E Waller Humanitarian Award in February 2023 He was also presented with the Resurrection Power- Faith and Community Award in April 2023 He was instrumental in work with many agencies that served individuals in recovery and was an active participant in 12 step recovery fellowships He shared messages of hope that have been heard around the globe Left to cherish his memory are a sister, Patricia R Bush and her husband William H McAfee of Washington D C ; his significant other Lydia Taylor; nephew, Kaz McAfee (Alexis); niece, Lena McAfee Young (John); great niece and nephews, Mariah, Shane, Carter and John; two uncles, John Bush (Chris) of Las Vegas, NV and Billy Joe Bowen of Washington D C ; aunt, Virginia Boldon of Fort Washington, MD; and many loving cousins, friends and believers He loved everyone unconditionally Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Friday, in the Life Church, 100 N Main St , Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held 11:00 a m , Saturday, October 14, 2023, with Rev Lance Whitlock officiating Interment will be private The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to City Mission or Legacy Recovery Church in Doug's name in lieu of flowers Donations may be sent to City Mission at 84 West Wheeling Street, Washington, PA 15301 designated to the Doug Bush Memorial Fund or Legacy Recovery Church, 144 South Wade Ave , First Floor/Apartment 1, Washington, PA 15301 Arrangements have been entrusted to the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd , Robert K McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave , Houston, PA 15342 To to the family or in memory of Douglas W Bush, pleaseShow more

Raymond A. Catalano, 85, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 23, 2023, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington. He was born February 21, 1938, in Westland, a son of Giuseppe and Maria Foleno Catalano. Raymond was a 1956 graduate of Chartiers Township High School, received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Edinboro University, his Master's Degree in Biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and his Doctorate in Zoology from Brigham Young University. Dr. Catalano was a professor of biology for many years at the former California State College/California University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his professorship, he was a teacher in the Avella and Gateway School Districts. Dr. Catalano was very proud of his education and was the first in his family to earn a college degree. He was affectionately known as "Dr. Cat" to the thousands of students whom he taught and influenced over the years. A lifelong lover of music, Raymond was a dedicated band member in junior high and high school. In his younger years, he belonged to numerous dance and polka bands as a piano player and was a member of the Marianna Fireman's Marching Band where he played baritone and trombone. Raymond enjoyed watching harness racing at the Meadows. He also had a great sense of humor throughout his life, often joking around with his family, friends, and students. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish in Canonsburg and a former member of the Lyons and Kiwanis Clubs. Surviving are a sister, Patricia Fabian of Canonsburg, and eight nieces and nephews: Tricia (Dan) Alderson, Karen Breese, Frank (Lilli) Catalano, Jr. , Michael (Jamie) Catalano, Richard Fabian, Nicole Hale, Joanne (Ted) Hervol, and Diane (Tom) Hutchinson, along with many great nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are a brother, Frank Catalano, Sr. ; a sister, Rose Dusza; and a nephew, James Catalano. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation.
