Blondean Pressley Bennett, age 86, of Clarkesville, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Born on July 4, 1937, in Toccoa, she was a daughter of the late Wade Sanford Pressley and Mamie Louise Presley Pressley. Mrs. Bennett was a machine operator at Coats and Clark for 15 years before becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, singing, reading, grocery shopping, and thrift shopping, but most of all, she loved her family. Mrs. Bennett was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church in Toccoa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Bennett; daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Gail Bennett; brothers, Jimmy Pressley and David Sanford Pressley; and sisters, Adrian Pressley Moore and Hylon Pressley Peoples. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Stephen James Bennett (Melody Diane Bennett) of Dallas, Georgia, Tony Michael Bennett (Tracey Proctor Bennett) of Toccoa, Richard Dale Bennett of Clarkesville, and Sanford David Bennett of Toccoa; daughters and son-in-law, Vicki Hylon McIntyre (Johnny) of Clarkesville and Tammie Denise Bennett of Hartwell; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Pressley Daniel of Stockbridge, Georgia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Stephens Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Umberhant officiating. Judy Elaine LaCount Owenby, age 75, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 Born on May 24, 1948, in Clarkesville, she was a daughter of the late George McGee LaCount and Rachel Clark LaCount. Over the years, Mrs. Owenby worked at Habersham Mills and American Woodmark. She was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church, who enjoyed singing and flowers. She loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. This included motorcycle rides with her husband, fishing, and camping trips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas "Tommy" Lee Owenby, Jr. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Lee Owenby, Sr. of Clarkesville; son, William "Billy" Edward Owenby (Julie) of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy (Terry) Miller of Clarkesville; granddaughter, Heather Lynn Owenby of Clarkesville; Hadlie (Phillip) Wall of Snellville; Kassidy Murray of Cornelia; brother, Mike LaCount of Mt. It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward Joseph Booth Sr. age 71 of Clarkesville, Georgia on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, on September 16, 1952, he was the son of Clarence John & Threasa Martin Booth. Ed enjoyed a multifaceted career. He was a professional drummer in a rock band, bringing joy and rhythm to many. His culinary skills shone in his time cooking and managing restaurants, including the Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta and Boston. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to find his calling in designing and building houses, where his commitment to high quality craftsmanship was evident. As a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, his faith played a significant role in his life. He contributed his time and expertise to the church's activities with enthusiasm. Most of all, Ed loved his family tremendously. Ed was a devoted husband and is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Judy Blank Booth of Clarkesville, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Edward Joseph, Jr. & Halie Booth of Fayetteville, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Stacy Anna Booth MacMaster & Peter MacMaster of Buckhead, GA; many cousins, other relatives, and friends. Sara Sue Cheek Scott, age 83 of the Chopped Oak Community, moved to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 19, 2023 Born on June 23, 1940 in Banks County, she was the baby daughter of the late James Harrison Cheek and the late Vera Inez Ward Cheek. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a 1960 graduate of Stephens County High School and she was a very strong, independent, hard working woman. She retired twice: first from Coats and Clark with 36 years of service and later from Wal-Mart in Cornelia with 15 years of service. She enjoyed reading and relaxing in her spare time. She was very loving, loyal and devoted to those she loved. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Scott is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Bruce Scott, brothers Ralph (Flora Mae), Eugene (Mildred), Clyde (Julie), Lloyd, Jewell (Marietta), Wilton (Mary Judith) Dewey, Roy J. , and Private Howard Cheek, sisters Corine (James) Pless, Bertie Mae Fitzgerald, brother in law and sister in law Violet and Harold Walker and Hoyt and Jewell Scott. Nettie Cleo Blair Ayers, age 96 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023. Born in Mt. Airy, Georgia on April 12, 1927, Mrs. Ayers was the daughter of the late Oscar Lamar Blair and the late Omie James Blair. Mrs. Ayers was a seamstress and earned her GED at the age of 62. She was a teachers aid at Baldwin Elementary. Mrs. Ayers was known for her sweet nature which made her loved by everyone. She was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayers is preceded in death by her husband Winston Weldon Ayers, Jr, sons Weldon Ayers and Michael Scott Ayers, brothers and sisters in law Garnett and Christine Blair and Burns and Lonie Blair, sisters and brothers in law Mary Elizabeth and Norman Davis, Bernice and Preston Davis and Australia and Schubert Williams. Mrs. Ayers was the last member of her immediate family. Survivors include daughter and son in law Dr. Marilyn Ayers Berrong and husband Larry of Hiawassee, niece that she helped raise Annie Mae Crawford of Mt. Grady Lee Nichols (August 5, 1930 - November 4, 2023) Mr. Grady Lee Nichols, age 93, of Alpharetta, GA, formerly of Clarkesville, GA, peacefully passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023. Mr. Nichols served in the U. S. Army as Sergeant during the Korean War. After a career of over 40 years, he retired from General Motors. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren celebrating milestones in their lives. Additionally, he was an active, lifetime member of Yaarab Shrine Temple where he was involved in several clubs and charitable activities supporting the Shriners Hospital for Children. He will be remembered for his quiet demeanor, his kindness, and his devotion to family and friends. Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Ramsey, his father, Brady Nichols, and stepmother, Myrtle Nichols, and his loving wife of 65 years, Margie Loudermilk Nichols. He is survived by his children, Terrill (Rhonda) Nichols of Alpharetta and Renee (Steve) Baiocco of Johns Creek, and grandchildren, Bridget Nichols Atchison (Tony) of Atlanta, Brandon Nichols of Alpharetta, Joseph Baiocco of New York City and Alex Baiocco of Alpharetta, GA, and several nieces and nephews. Dayle Elizabeth Sutton Fowler, age 78 of Buford, Georgia formerly of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023. Born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 9, 1945, Mrs. Fowler was the daughter of the late Starling T. Sutton, Sr. and the late Sara Kitchens Sutton. She was an honor graduate of Oglethorpe University. She retired from a 28 year career that ended as director of corporate public affairs. Mrs. Fowler later retired as director of Assisted Living for Kingsbridge Retirement Center. Her faith was the center of her life. Mrs. Fowler was always active in her church in many rolls. She enjoyed singing solos as well as singing in the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Fowler was a past board member for Shorter College and she was a member of Ivy Creek Baptist Church in Buford. Cooking was one of Mrs. Fowler's many gifts and she enjoyed sharing love through food to her family as well as many others. Her boys were her life. She was so proud of the fine men they have become. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fowler is preceded in death by brothers; Kent Sutton, Starling Sutton, Jr. , and Donald Sutton and sisters; Cynthia Sutton, Wanda S. Gross and Margaret S. Ehrman. Survivors include her husband Tolbert "T. A. " Fowler of Buford, sons; Keith Fowler of Suwanee, Russell Fowler (Kelly) of Buford, and Edward Fowler of Suwanee, brothers; Paul Sutton (Lynn) and Charles Sutton (Cathy) of Statham, as well as eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Monday, November 6, 2023, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Dr. Craig Ward and Rev. Chip Cranford, officiating.
