Jeanette E. Laudick OTTAWA - Jeanette E. Laudick, 92, of Ottawa, passed away at 6:30 a. m. on Monday, September 11, 2023 at The Meadows of Ottawa surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 14, 1930 in Glandorf to the late Hubert and Emma (Recker) Schmitz. On October 7, 1950, she married Richard E. Laudick, who preceded her in death on April 4, 2022. Survivors include five children: Deborah (Harold) Birkemeier of Ft. Jennings, Jeanne (Mike) Verhoff of Ottawa, Kevin (Julie) Laudick of Glandorf, Joseph (Ann) Laudick and Annette (Jeff) Kendall, both of Ottawa; 15 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by two granddaughters: Katie Laudick and Lori Verhoff; and four sisters: Norma (Bernard) Brown, Helen (Herbert) Teders, Alice (Ralph) Schroeder and Thelma (Norbert) Vennekotter. Jeanette was the former co-owner of the Putnam County Sentinel and previously worked for Sylvania/Philips, Ottawa as well as the Putnam County Welfare Office. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. Funeral Mass will begin 10:00 a. m. , Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Diana W. "Danni" Mayhew OTTAWA - Diana W. "Danni" Mayhew, 80, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully at 11:08 a. m. , Thursday, November 30, 2023, at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born September 16, 1943, in Coshocton to the late Jack and Zola "Pat" (Fletcher) McCleary. On June 28, 1964, she married David C. Mayhew. He passed away December 21, 2012. Survivors include two children: David (Deanna) Mayhew of Hicksville and Dean (Sharon) Mayhew of Glandorf; five grandchildren: Erica, Cecelia, Anissa, Kendall and Connor; eleven great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; and a brother-in-law, Bill Vorlicky of West Palm Beach, FL. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jacquie Vorlicky. Danni and her husband Dave were the former owners of Hickory Hills Golf Course in Hicksville. She also worked numerous years in the Ottawa-Glandorf School System as an aide and at the Car-E-It in Ottawa. She enjoyed golf, playing cards and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and OSU Buckeyes. Danni loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Glandorf on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 2:00 p. m. Melvin "Whitey" Kreinbrink NEW CLEVELAND - Melvin "Whitey" Kreinbrink, 84, of New Cleveland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, one day short of his 85th birthday at 4:56 p. m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at his residence. He was born December 1, 1938, in New Cleveland to the late Harry and Lena (Bellman) Kreinbrink. On August 5, 1961, he married Janet Schumaker, who survives in New Cleveland. Other survivors include four children: Trina (Phil) Boehnlein of Findlay, Beth (Jeff) Steffan of New Cleveland, Ned (Lisa) Kreinbrink of Ottawa and Bruce (Paula) Kreinbrink of Beavercreek; eleven grandchildren: Zach (Julie) Boehnlein, Sam (Brittany) Boehnlein, Andy (Chris Allemang) Boehnlein, Garrett (Theresa) Steffan, Chad (Brittany) Steffan, Toni Steffan, Ben (Karli) Kreinbrink, Jessica (Drew) Kreinbrink-Ellerbrock, Amanda Kreinbrink, Spencer Kreinbrink and Gabi Kreinbrink; thirteen great-grandchildren: Jayden, Luke, Alison and Grace Boehnlein, Rebecca, Vanessa, Violet, Logan and James Steffan, Bentley and Lillian Steffan, and Beckham and Blake Kreinbrink; a sister, Delores Kuhlman of Ottawa; and a sister-in-law, Joan Kreinbrink of Ottawa. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Angela (Vernon) Wolke; a brother, Norbert Kreinbrink; and a brother-in-law, John Kuhlman. Mel was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer. Both the Kreinbrink and Bellman family farms have been in the family for 150 years. He was a US Army National Guard veteran and served on the Ottawa Township Building Zone Board. Mel was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland, where he was an usher and member of the Holy Aid Men's Group. He loved sports, played softball, was on a men's and co-ed bowling team, and coached junior high basketball (4 time PCL champion), little league baseball, and pony league. He followed the Miller City Wildcats, OSU Buckeyes, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. Mel loved to watch his grandkids' games and performances, and keeping up-to-date by reading the newspaper from cover to cover, especially the Sporting News. Mel loved to travel, taking many trips to Wright State to watch Bruce play baseball. He also took annual trips to Florida and many trips to Coldwater Lake and Merry Lake with family. Mel enjoyed cards, solo, poker, euchre, sudoku puzzles, and was proud of his outdoor Christmas light displays. The family would like to thank Dr. Kesireddy, Bryan Hospital, Dr. Gerschutz, Blanchard Valley, Putnam County Home Health and Hospice, Angie Brinkman, PT Services and Dr. Leopold for their great care of Dad which gave us 10+ additional years with him. Donald R. "Gus" Heringhaus OTTAWA - Donald R. "Gus" Heringhaus, 83, of Ottawa, passed away at 12:21 a. m. , Thursday, November 30, 2023 at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born August 16, 1940, in Lima to the late Robert V. and Alma (Gulker) Heringhaus. On June 5, 1965, he married Kay Curtis, who survives in Ottawa. Other survivors include two children: Suzanne (Matthew) Strayer of Paulding and Jeff Heringhaus of Ottawa; two grandchildren: Steven Curtis (Darcie) Strayer of Perrysburg, and Katelyn Strayer of Columbus; great-granddaughter, Mara Kay Strayer; two siblings: Jim (Christine) Heringhaus of Ottawa and Ann Elizabeth Heringhaus of Blacklick; four sisters-in-law: Mary Heringhaus of Lima, Marlene Heringhaus of Toledo, Pam Heringhaus of Port Clinton and Jane Heringhaus of Findlay; and many nieces and nephews. Gus was also preceded in death by five siblings: Thomas Heringhaus, Mary Jane Schmenk, William Heringhaus, Allen Heringhaus and Bernard Heringhaus; and two brothers-in-law: Russ Kersh and Don Schmenk. Gus was a 1958 graduate of Sts. Peter and Paul High School and veteran of the US Army National Guard. He was a well-known businessman and owner of Heringhaus Furniture, Ottawa. Gus served on the Village of Ottawa Water Board and was an organizing member of the Ottawa Four Deuces Car Club. He was the past president and held many other offices in the Ottawa Kiwanis Club. Gus was also an amateur radio operator W8ZRZ, private pilot, member of the Ottawa Radio Club, Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 636, Findlay Steam Club, and Leipsic Hunting and Fishing. He was a member of the former Barbershop Musical Chorus, the Putnamaires. He loved singing with his Barbershop friends, Benchmark, and singing and playing bass with Harps and Strings Music Group. Gus enjoyed a special camaraderie with his many friends, business associates, and Ottawa residents. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a. m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Faith Baptist Church, Ottawa with Pastor Denny Coates officiating. The private interment will take place at Sts Peter & Paul Cemetery, Ottawa. Gerald L. Niese NEW CLEVELAND - Gerald L. Niese, 76, of New Cleveland, passed away at 6:05 a. m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, at his residence. He was born December 20, 1946, in Lima to Charles H. and Ruth (Leinsetter) Niese. His father is deceased and his mother survives in Ottawa. On December 17, 1966, he married Phyllis Lammers, who survives in New Cleveland. Other survivors include a son, Jeffery A. (Laurie) Niese of New Cleveland; a son-in-law, Adam Klosowski of North Carolina; three grandchildren: Allison (Jared) Kern, Travis (Elizabeth) Niese, both of New Cleveland, and Megan Niese of Miller City; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; and three siblings: Nancy (Jim) Niese of Miller City, Tom (Jane) Niese of Leipsic and Carol (Mike) Nemire of Pandora. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kristine Klosowski. Gerald worked for Campbells Soup, Napoleon from 1984-2010 and was a lifelong farmer. He served in the US Air Force, working as jet mechanic. He enjoyed farming, restoration projects and collecting antique tractors. Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Linda Sue Verhoff MT. CORY - Linda Sue Verhoff, 60, of Mt. Cory passed away at 4:38 p. m. on Monday, November 27, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born May 15, 1963, in Lima, to Herman and Eileen (Warnimont) Klausing, her father is deceased, and her mother survives in Ottawa. On October 19, 1985, she married Keith Verhoff, who survives in Mt. Cory. Linda is also survived by three children: Kayla (Chris) Swartz of Findlay, Logan (Tyler) Verhoff of Mt. Gilead, and Kassi (Sydney Harris) Verhoff of Perrysburg; beloved dogs: Laci and Ivey; siblings: Cindy Niese of Ottawa, Wendy (Bill) Armstrong of Coldwater, MI. , Tim (Jamie) Klausing of Ottawa, Victoria (Randy) Wolverton of Convoy, and Stacy Klausing of Ottawa. She is preceded in death by her twin daughters: Becky Lee and Brandy Lee; grandparents: Jacob and Agnes (Wallen) Warnimont and Alfred and Alice (Fairchild) Klausing; and mother-in-law and father-in-law: Norbert and Juanita (Fout) Verhoff. Linda worked as a clerk for the Hancock County Board of Elections. She was a graduate of BGSU Firelands Campus and Rhodes State College. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and its C. L. of C. Linda loved spending time at Coldwater Lake, MI. on her pontoon. She enjoyed fishing off her pontoon. She also enjoyed attending craft shows and making crafts of her own. She loved Christmas and most of all she loved having all of her family home and spending time together. She was born August 2, 1927 in Fort Jennings to the late Edward H. and Philomena (Knueven) Nichols. On May 29, 1947 she married Urban J. Lammers. He died March 30, 2014. Survivors include six children: Lois Lucking of Clayton, Elaine (Edwin) Steffen of Miller City, Jeanne Greer of Yorktown, IN, Jan (Bruce) Moening of Ottawa, Alan (Susan) Lammers of Brookville and Kevin (Carla) Lammers of Waterville; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and 3 sisters: Joan Baxter of Georgia, Georgia Thines of Lima and Sue McGue of Delphos. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Greer; a grandson, Chris Greer and 6 siblings: Edna Hedrick, Kermit Nichols, O. J. Nichols, John Nichols, Milton Nichols and Virginia Eickholt. Germaine was a homemaker. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, its Altar Rosary Society and Ottawa VFW Auxiliary 9142. Germaine played tennis and golfed until age 88 and pickleball until age 93. She loved people and was an avid visitor to the residents at The Meadows for many years. She was born December 17, 1948, in Harrisburg, PA to the late Carl and Arlene (Kuhn) Laverty. On June 22, 1974, she married William "Bill" Bockrath. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2017. Survivors include two children: Rebecca "Becky" (Mark) Broxterman of Hamilton and Andrew "Andy" Bockrath of Ottawa; two grandchildren: Amber and Lindsay Broxterman. She was the American Mom to Hilko Bengen, Kathrin Kinzer and Frauke Kleinsorge, exchange students from Germany. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Marty Ann Laverty, Connie Laverty and Patricia Schwab. Linda was a teacher for Continental Elementary and Columbus Grove Middle School until 2005. She had worked for the Continental EMS and Ottawa EMS. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, where she was a Minister of Praise and member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She volunteered for the Red Cross, Child Conservation League and Putnam County Hospice. Linda loved following her granddaughters in their soccer and softball sporting events. Vernon, Thomas James (Sarah) Loman of Tremont City; five grandchildren: Leona Alise, Vivian Inez, Willow Ellen, Christopher James and Hazel Jane; three siblings: Kathy (Pete) Sawicki of Orono, MN, Kris (Dan Buckland) Loman of Cross Plains, WI, and Jacque (Mark) Ward of Bay Village; a brother-in-law: Skip Ruhe of Grand Haven, MI; and sister-in-law, Anita Loman of Ottawa. He was also preceded in death by three siblings: William "Bill" Loman, Connie Ruhe and Jonathan Loman. Robert retired in 2022 after working 27 years as an engineer/operator for Gerken Paving, where he was a Union 18 member. He loved music and the outdoors, especially hiking, canoeing, rock hunting, mushroom and arrowhead hunting.
