A Celebration of Life for Tori Mae Durre, 5 months old, will be 10:30 AM Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Faith Community Church in O'Neill, NE with a luncheon to follow. Pastors Doug Durre and Mike Durre will officiate. The family is respectfully asking that those in attendance wear purple to support prematurity awareness in honor of Tori, Madi, and all preemies. The service will be live-streamed on the Faith Community Church YouTube channel. Tori passed away peacefully in her parents' arms on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Children's Nebraska Hospital in Omaha, NE. Memorials may be sent to the family for later designation to honor Tori's NICU stay. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a children's book. The books will then be donated to the NICU's at Methodist Women's Hospital in Elkhorn, NE, and Children's Nebraska Hospital in Omaha, NE. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Tori Mae Durre was born on June 25th, 2023, in Elkhorn, NE, to the proud parents of Derek and Miranda (Schnebel) Durre. Born 2 minutes before her identical twin sister Madi, Tori weighed 2 lbs 1. 5 oz. She gave the NICU team at Methodist Women's Hospital a delivery they will never forget. Don't let her small size fool you, Tori was ready to show us all just how strong, feisty, sweet, brave, loving, and tenacious she could be. The twins were born exactly 3 months early due to Tori's amniotic sac rupturing, referred to as preterm premature rupture of the membranes (PPROM), at 16 weeks. From the start of her remarkable birth, Tori's strength and will to fight surprised everyone she met. She pushed her care teams beyond the standard level of treatment and conquered the unimaginable. However, it was her sweet soul, beautiful eyes, red fluffy hair, and button nose that stole our hearts. There wasn't a day that went by where someone didn't mention her full head of hair and sweet heart. This is especially true for those that were blessed with the opportunity to love, care, and snuggle with her. Some of Tori's favorite things were hearing mommy and daddy's voices, snuggling with her twin bestie Madi, hearing big sister Lexi call her TorTee, getting spa days and head massages, and staring up at her mobile. She absolutely loved it when Mom sang "You Are My Sunshine" and read "Cuddle Close Little Koala. " Tori's journey is being shared by doctors across the world in hopes that her story can save the lives of other babies like her. In the time we got to spend with her, Tori taught us more than we ever thought possible - and she did it without having to say a word. Tori is survived by her parents, Derek and Miranda Durre; big sister Lexi and twin sister Madi of Chambers, NE; grandparents, Rande and Jodi Schnebel of Norfolk, NE; great grandparents, Roger and Caroline Schnebel of Madison, NE, Marian Hayes of Emerson, NE; aunts and uncles, Matt (JoHannah) Schnebel of Norfolk, NE, Cody Schnebel of Omaha, NE, Doug (Rosalyn) Durre of Ord, NE and their four children, Elliana, Zanetta, Jerriah and Brielle, Michelle (Matt) McKay of O'Neill, NE and their three children, Cooper, Colby and Cash; and many extended family members and friends. Tori was preceded in death by her baby sibling, Adin (prior to birth); grandparents, Mark and Diana Durre; great grandparents, Jim and Inez Haspeslagh, Ernest Jr. and Patricia Durre, and C. D. Hayes.
