Cathy Joan (Walsh) Allan, 77, passed away on February 11, 2024, after a long, ten-year battle with cancer.Cathy was born in Muncie on February 12, 1946, the daughter of Lawrence R. and Joan (Meyer) Walsh. Cathy graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1964. After graduation she moved to El Paso Texas to attend Texas Western College, now known as The University of Texas at El Paso. That is where met her husband Jim Allan.Cathy was known to voice her opinion at times, which made life with her an enjoyable experience for everyone who knew her. Cathy also known as “Nana”, truly enjoyed family gatherings, travel, and vacations. Some of her best memories included trips to Ireland, Paris, and Canada with her grandchildren. There were also numerous summer vacations at Hilton Head, South Carolina. Nana was loved by everyone in the family and will be remembered and deeply missed by everyone.Cathy is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Jim Allan; children, James (Amy) Allan and Jennifer (Brad) Allan-Hedrick; grandchildren, Kayla, Tristan, Jacob, Cameron, and Aidan; great-grandchildren, Rayland, Arabella, and Rosalina; brother, Bob (Ivy) Walsh; cousins, Jan and Chris Klein, Steve and Sandie Mills, Gary and Mimi Bontempo, and Greg Bontempo.Cathy was preceded by her parents, Lawrence and Joan Walsh; brother, David Walsh; and aunt, Janet Mills, who was like a second mother and grandmother to Cathy and all of her children.Per Cathy’s wishes there were no public services held and she was cremated.Online condolences may be left for the family at www.meeksmortuary.com

James A. Jackson, 82, of Gaston, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Muncie Estates. Jim was born on Decembrer 14, 1941, to the late Homer and Eva Jackson. He was a 1960 graduate of Gaston High School. Jim worked at Chevrolet of Muncie for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Jim also worked as a Farrier. He was a member of Prairie Grove Christian Church, the Matthews Masonic Lodge, Alexandria Eagles Lodge, the Gaston Conservation Club, and a 40-year member of the NRA. Jim was a marksman who enjoyed hunting, shooting firearms and archery, calf roping, horses, and farming. Jim is survived by four children, Katherine Blevins, Susan Mattingly, Laura Pickett, and Joseph Jackson (wife Jennifer); seven grandchildren, Justin Mattingly, Stephanie Nelson (husband Jason), Bradley Baumer (wife Katie), LeeAnne Anderson, Julia Jackson, Jillian Jackson, and Josiah Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Nelson, Melanie Nelson, and Jackson Baumer; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 20 years before her death in 1980, Marcia Jackson; and two brothers, Donald Jackson and Clifford Jackson. A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 4, 2024, at Prairie Grove Christian Church, 16775 N. County Road 775 W. in Gaston. Pastor Brian Wise will officiate. Agnes M Melton, 88, went to her heavenly home Saturday afternoon, February 24, 2024, at the Yorktown Manor Health Care Center following an extended illness. She was born on October 7, 1935, in Muncie, the daughter of Arlie and Genevieve (Dumpert) Lloyd. Agnes attended Muncie Community Schools and later married the love of her life Loyde R. Melton on June 15, 1951, and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2017. Mrs. Melton became a homemaker and attended The East 16th St. Church of God where she served in the Nursery and was also a Custodian. She treasured time with her family the most. Survivors include two sons, James E. Melton (Deann), and Randy J. Melton (Deborah), both of Muncie; one daughter, Patricia A. Butler (Ronnie), Muncie; eight grandchildren, Pat Walker, Amanda Wooldridge (Andy), Amy Logan (Joshua), Tiffany Watson (Aaron), Tonya Butler, Joe Melton, James Butler (Terri) and Dale Butler (Jackie); several great-grandchildren; several great, great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband of 66 years, Loyde, she was preceded in death by grandson, Matt Butler; one great-grandson, Landon Melton; one granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Melton; her parents, one brother Francis Lloyd; and one sister, Sharon Dalton. Funeral services will be held on March 1, 2024, at Parson Mortuary at noon with Pastor Doug Lucy officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. He married Kathryn Cross in July of 1969 and she survives.Duwayne was a bartender for most of his career after serving in the United States Army. He liked watching old cowboy movies and wrestling on T.V. Patricia Elizabeth White, 76, passed away on February 23, 2024 at home under the loving care of her soulmate, partner, friend, and husband of nearly 62 years, Gregory Alan White, along with Heart to Heart Hospice. Pat was born on October 11, 1947 in Muncie, Indiana to Louis and Doris (Renner) Stump. She and Greg were married on August 25, 1962 and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1965. Pat went on a little bit later in life to graduate from Ball State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in psychology in 1984. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt to many. Her love for her family was surpassed only by her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. Pat is survived by her husband, Greg; daughter, Carole (JJ) Justice; son, Matt (Nancy) White; daughter, Michele (Bill) Bauman; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Elizabeth Anne; grandson, Timothy Justice; brothers, Richard and William (Barbara) Stump; and sisters, Janet (Herb) Wilson and Marilyn (Donald) Dickson. Mary Ann Davis, 64, passed away on 2/212/24 at Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. She was born the daughter of Carl and Sharon Holdren, in Muncie, on August 18, 1959. Mary grew up in Muncie, graduated from local high school, and worked in a factory before an auto accident left her unable to work. Mary loved playing Bingo, drawing, and writing gospel songs. But her true passion was for her cat “Tiggy,” whom she received as a rescue. She is survived by one son, Matthew I. Davis, Lewisville, Indiana, one daughter, Cythnia Adkins (Scott), of Muncie, as well as a grandson Timothy Adkins II (Nicole). Garnet was known for her humor and love of the color green. She enjoyed music, walks, campfires, collecting angels, crosswords, and engaging in little crafts. She often felt lost in this world but is now at peace. She is survived by three daughters, Stephany Cortner, Amy Cortner, and September Baker, as well as eleven siblings.
