Jay A. Morrell, 51 of Riverside, RI passed away at home on September 6th, 2023. He was the beloved son of the late Norman Morrell and Barbara Morrell. He is survived by his mother and his six siblings - His sisters Lee Lefranc and her husband Albert, Susan Ellinwood and her husband Paul, Sandra Falcao, his brothers Jeffrey Morrell and Paul Morrell, and sister Lori Dutra and her husband Michael. In addition, he is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews. Jay attended East Providence School as well as The Meeting Street School. After completing his education, he joined the ARC of Blackstone Valley, where he completed various jobs including helping to deliver Meals on Wheels and sorting recyclables. He was involved with the ARC for thirty years. Jay also participated in the East Providence Recreation Department Program for Special Needs. He was an athlete in the Rhode Island Special Olympics, winning numerous medals in swim and track. Jay was also a member of the Wampanoag Warriors swim team. He enjoyed going out to eat, and hobbies such as dancing, and attending summer concerts in the park. He loved country music, movies, and his trips to Disney World. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday September 13, 2023, 11:00 AM at Swan Point Cemetery, in The Redwood Chapel, 585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence, RI 02906. In lieu of flowers, Jay's family requests donations be made to the Rhode Island Special Olympics.

Born on May 23, 2023, to parents Keith and Victoria (DiRaimo) Huntoon, Levi was a beacon of joy and love during his brief time with us. Levi was born into a close-knit family with deep roots in Rhode Island. His parents, Keith and Victoria, were overjoyed to welcome their son into the world. The maternal grandson of Lucille (Zelano) DiRaimo of Johnston and the late Thomas DiRaimo, and the paternal grandson of Maria "Mary" (Pestana) Huntoon of Warwick and the late David F. Huntoon, Jr. , Levi was cherished by his grandparents, who showered him with love. He is also survived by his great grandparents David and Carole Huntoon of Seekonk, MA. Levi was also the beloved younger brother of Noah and Keith Huntoon Jr, of North Kingstown. His brothers were thrilled to welcome Levi into their lives, and they cherished every moment they spent with him. Levi's passing leaves a void in their lives that can never be filled, but the love they held for their brother will forever remain in their hearts. Levi also leaves behind his uncles Jordan, David, and Vincent, and his aunt Holly, who will miss their dear nephew. Providence - Maria Manuela (Rodrigues) Medeiros, affectionately known as Maria, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on November 9, 2023, at the RI Hospital in Providence, RI. Born on April 20, 1948, in Ponte Delgada, Azores, Portugal, she was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Jose (Faria) Rodrigues. Maria was the loving wife of Antonio Manuel Medeiros. Their enduring and loving relationship spanned over 53 years, a testament to their strong commitment and deep affection for each other. She was a devoted mother to Michael Medeiros and his wife Liandra of Providence, and Michelle Medeiros of Bristol. Maria was a cherished sister to Arsenio Rodrigues of Toronto, Canada, and Juvy Rodrigues of Providence. She was predeceased by her siblings Januario Dias, Fernando Rodrigues, Joaquim Rodrigues, and Zelia Dias. Maria's love also extended to her numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly. A hardworking woman, Maria spent over 45 years as a private duty housekeeper. She took great pride in her work, and the homes she cared for were always maintained with the utmost attention and care. Her dedication and commitment to her work were evident in every task she undertook. Maria had a variety of interests that kept her busy in her free time. She was an avid reader, often seen with a book in hand, engrossed in a captivating story. She also enjoyed watching soap operas, a pastime that provided her with much relaxation and entertainment. However, her true passion was cooking for her family. Her kitchen was a place of love and warmth, where she crafted meals that brought everyone together. Maria was the "glue" that held her family together, always ensuring that everyone was well-fed and happy. She was very giving, courageous and selfless woman. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend, Eduarda Pereira at the age of 77 at RI hospital on Nov 4th 2023. She was the daughter of the late Joao and Idalina Furtado. She was a woman whose life was marked by unwavering love for her family, a passion for her cultural heritage, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. Her journey, from Portugal to the United States, was one of resilience, hard work, and the pursuit of the American dream. Born in Ponta Delgada, St Michael Azores. She came to America in 1968 with her late husband Joseph Pereira. In 1975 she became a US citizen. Eduarda embodied the spirit of family and always had a nurturing presence. She worked as a nanny and housekeeper for many years with the Jaffee family. Her dedication to her work extended beyond professional duties, and the children she cared for became like an extended family to her. Eduarda adored her children, and her heart swelled with pride and joy as she became a grandmother and, later, a great-grandmother. She would often prepare traditional Portuguese meals for everyone to enjoy. She was the matriarch of a close-knit family that cherished every moment spent together, and her laughter and smile were a testament to the happiness she found in their presence. In addition to her family, Eduarda had a few great loves that brought her immense joy. She was known for her passion for coffee, sweet desserts, knitting, and her many pugs. She also loved watching Telenovelas, American Football, and European Football. Her love for this simple pleasure was shared with those around her, creating a warm and welcoming environment for friends and family. As we say goodbye to Eduarda, we remember a woman who embodied love, strength, resilience, and an appreciation for the simple joys of life. Louise Hawkins passed on November 1st at the age of 89. She is survived by her son Chip and daughter-in-law Susan and grandchildren Sarah Hawkins and Alden Hawkins. Louise was pre-deceased by her loving husband Nelson Hawkins Sr. and her son John Hawkins. Louise spent most of her life in Barrington. Her life revolved around family, boating and skiing. Most summers were spent cruising the waters of Narragansett Bay, Buzzards Bay, Vineyard Sound and Nantucket Sound. Alongside Nelson, they sailed at every opportunity including trips in the Caribbean. Her offshore experience included a return trip from Bermuda following a Newport to Bermuda Race. Winter weekends were faithfully committed to skiing up at Waterville Valley, NH with family and friends. The Barrington Yacht Club played a huge role in Louise's life and she was involved with several of the Club committees for many years. Nelson and Louise were Barrington Yacht Club Life Members. Louise was the first female at BYC to skipper a Sunfish in what was the Tired Father's Series (now known as the Thursday evening Senior Championship). The Barrington Yacht Club cruises were family affairs for over 55 years aboard all their vessels each named "Foxy". During the 60's, 70's and 80's they raced their boats all over Southern New England and spent countless voyages enjoying the water, family and companionship of other BYC members. Louise was an athlete at heart and beyond her love of sailing and skiing, she was a competitive tennis player and swam whenever possible. Antonio was also the beloved brother of Joao Pereira of New Bedford, MA, and the late Jose Pereira. He was the proud uncle of Marisa Wilson, Kirsten Pereira, Andrew Pereira, and Neil Pereira. Antonio took great joy in his role as a grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his granddaughter, Avianna. Tony was the son of the late Viriato Tavares Pereira and Elisa (Vicente) Pereira. He carried the values and lessons from his parents throughout his life, embodying their spirit of resilience, kindness, and generosity. In his professional life, Tony dedicated over 20 years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Fatima Hospital. Born on July 28, 1933, in Vila De Rei, Portugal, Jose was the son of the late Jose D. and Ermelinda (Nunes) Mendes. He immigrated to the United States and settled in the Fox Point section of Providence before moving to Rumford in 1969. Jose was the beloved husband of Maria C. (Paulo) Mendes for over 62 years. Their bond was one of deep love and mutual respect, a testament to their long, happy marriage. Their union blessed them with two children, Dennis Mendes and his wife Alison of Rumford, and Edith Zitrides and her husband George of Laughlin, Nevada. He was a loving father who instilled the values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion in his children. In addition to his wife and children, Jose was the cherished brother of Ramiro "Ray" Mendes of Rumford, and Mary Martins of East Providence. He was predeceased by his brothers Abel Mendes and Peter Mendes. As a grandfather, he was a source of wisdom and comfort to Diane Powers, Brian Raymond Jr. , Zachary J. Mendes, Damon P. Phyllis (Bicknell) Huddleston, 97, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. She was the wife of the late Robert D. Huddleston, for 56 years. She was a devoted mother to Linda (Jim) McCann, Susan (Phil) Thow, Doris Huddleston and Dana (Christine) Huddleston. She is survived by 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was born in Weymouth, MA, on February 6, 1926. She was the daughter of the late George and Doris Bicknell and sister of the late Verna Dupree. Phyllis graduated from Abington High School on June 6, 1944. Upon completing high school she trained to become a dental assistant and worked in that field for the next 6 years. She loved baking for others and was an avid Red Sox Fan. Phyllis was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, Whitman, MA and attended Barrington Baptist Church, Barrington, RI. She was a kind and loving person to all who knew her. Phyllis will be remembered as a woman who loved the Lord, had a contagious smile and was a dedicated prayer warrior. The family would like to extend special thanks to the many staff at HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care of Rhode Island for their exceptional and compassionate care for Phyllis which enabled her to remain at home.
