JANIE RUTH YOUNG THACKER, age 84, of Jefferson City, TN passed away September 10, 2023. She was born on January 27, 1939 in New Market, TN. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Jefferson City Water department, Jefferson Elementary School and finally at Jefferson County High School, retiring in 1998. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 61 years, Bobby. She is survived by her son, Randy and his wife, Cyndie; daughter, Laura Jane Walker and her husband Steve; five adult grandchildren, Zach (Crystal) Walker, Nathan (Elizabeth) Thacker, Will Hutchens, Daniel Thacker, Grayson Walker and two great grandchildren, Rhett and Hadleigh Walker. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p. m. to 1:30 p. m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City. A graveside internment service will follow at 2:00 p. m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Dr. Gene Wilder officiating. Donna Claire Wallace Reed, age 70, of Jefferson City, TN, went peacefully at home to be her Lord on November 29th, 2023. She was born on February 15th, 1953, in Hanover, New Hampshire, the daughter of Donald Clyde and Betty Louise Wallace. She is preceded in death by her baby sister, Diane Lynn Wallace; father, Donald Wallace; brother, Robert Wallace; oldest sister, Wanda McCrosky; and brother-in-law, David McCrosky. Donna moved to Jefferson City in 2005 after her husband, Roy Reed retired from ABF Freight Systems, moving here from Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1986 she and her husband were team drivers for Schneider Transport. Donna attended and graduated from the ADN RN program at Walters State Community College in 1989, being the 1,000th graduate of this program. She dedicated her life helping people as an RN. Not only did she serve as a clinical RN, but she also taught CNA programs in Albuquerque and Tennessee Tech in Knoxville for two years. Donna retired from nursing in 2007. In her lifetime, Donna took pride in her family and old-soul crafty nature. She loved collecting vintage dolls and angels, and her walls were always filled with family pictures. She frequently gave friends and family pictures that she colored herself, a passion of hers. She is survived by her husband and soul mate of 35 years, Roy K Reed; daughter, Leniya Cheyenne Reed; son, Joshua Kent Reed; son, Barry Sheldon Reed; stepson, Marty Cline; stepdaughters, Clarissa Manning and Dorothy Roberts; mother, Betty Louise Wallace; sisters, Carol Carswell (Marty Carroll) and Brenda (Rick) Hatfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that she cherished. He was a wonderful step-father, an incredible husband, and a very hard working, loyal and dedicated worker. He loved riding his Honda Tallon with family and friends, vacationing at the beach, and his dogs. He dearly loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. Dustin had a tough exterior with a big heart, and was excited about his two grandchildren on the way. Preceded in death by his nephew, Dillon Prater; and grandchild, Hadley Grace Akers. Reverend Garland E. Long, age 77 of Jefferson City, TN, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023, following a brief illness. He was a minister for 28 years and was currently serving as a Chaplin of Amedisys Hospice where he had been for 17 years. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Garland E. Long, Sr. and Chrystel; brothers, Jerry Ray and Glenn Long; and brother-in-law, Jerry Matney. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane Long; sons, Beau (Jama) Long and Daniel Long; grandchildren, Chrysta Long and her fiancé, Andrew Leffingwell and Garrett Long who he greatly enjoyed spending time with; sisters, Sharon (Tom) Shubert, Susan Matney; brothers, Kenneth Long and Donna, Chester Long and Judy, Neil (Debbie) Long; sisters-in-laws, Bertha Long and Karen Long; and several nieces and nephews. She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Strawberry Plains, where she served as organist for 70 years, church secretary, church treasurer, librarian, and senior adult director. Jewell retired from Thompson Cancer Survival Center in Knoxville and Mr. J. M. High’s accounting business in Jefferson City. Jewell was preceded in death by her spouse of 69 years, Robert "Bob" Hux; her parents, Robert Haskell and Elsie Brooks; sisters, Vivian Bailey, Roberta Cook, Anice Ogle; and granddaughter, Tiffany (Lockhart) Eldridge. Ricky "Rick-Ro" Lynn Denton, age 64 or White Pine passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was born September 18, 1950 at Milligan Clinic in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He is the son of the late Claude "Buck" and Martha Ellen Hazelwood Denton. Over the last twelve years, Ricky enjoyed working on and racing his drag racing car. Many happy hours were spent with his grandson as he taught him about cars and how to work on them. Ricky also loved his time spent on the lake in his boat and the fishing expeditions with his son and his family. He is survived by his son, David (Dee Dee) Denton; close friend, Amy Gibson; granddaughter, Teresa Denton; grandson, James Denton; brother, Jimmy Denton (Diane Charette) of Acworth, Georgia; sister, Glenda "Susie" Neal (JW Neal) of Powell; nephew, Michael (Laurie) Morris of Athens, Alabama; uncle, Ronnie (Carolyn) Denton. Special friends that were his racing, working, and fishing buddies-Doug Skeen, Richard Wolfe, and Jim Murphy. There are several great nieces and nephews along with a host of cousins.
