Bennie James Pivonka, 93, of Sadieville, KY, entered into his eternal rest on Monday April 3, 2023 at Dover Manor Nursing and Rehab in Georgetown. Born on July 12, 1929 in Caldwell, TX, he was the son of the late Albin and Mary Hlavaty Pivonka. Bennie was united in marriage to the former Wilma J. Nelson; she preceded her in death on March 30, 2005. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the U. S. Army and was a member of Georgetown American Legion Post 24. Upon being honorably discharged from the Army, he was employed by Clark Material Handling Company as an assembly line worker. He loved animals, listening to country gospel music, fishing and participating in fishing tournaments but will best be remembered for his love for "doing for others". Upon retirement, at the age of 76 he would comment, "I enjoy mowing yards for all the "old people". He would often be seen delivering commodities to the Senior Citizens in Sadieville. Much fulfillment and satisfaction came from being an avid supporter of the R. A. West Singing and Preaching Ministries based out of Varney, WV; he followed him in much of his travels. He leaves to carry on his tremendous legacy, two sons: Rev. Bennie J. (Debbie) Pivonka of Nicholasville, KY, James (Freda) Hopper of Sadieville, KY; one grandson: Christopher (Rachel) Pivonka of Knoxville, TN and two great-grandsons: Elijah Pivonka and Noah Pivonka. In addition to his wife, Wilma Pivonka, he was preceded in death by a son: Joe Hopper and two brothers: Edwin Pivonka and Albert Pivonka. Visitation will be Friday April 7, 2023 from 11:00 a. m. - 1:00 p. m. at McDaniel Funeral Home in Corinth. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Rev. Tom Byrd officiating.
